#black lives have always mattered

LIVE

When you say “All Lives Matter” when I say “Black Lives Matter” it sounds like your saying “Black lives don’t matter as much.” And are things to condescend and minigate the importance of our message. And if “All Lives Matter” then “Black Lives” are included and you should be just as mad and heartbroken and standing with us.

When you say “White lives matter too.” when I say “Black Lives Matter” It sounds like you are saying “White lives matter more then black lives.” And it makes me feel like you see me as a traitor of my race for defending another. I akwoldge I have white privlage but at least I can use it to help anyway I can.

When you say “They are all just thugs who are looting and setting things on fire.” when I say “Black Lives Matter" you are only choosing to focus on the handful of the most radical and misguided of those involved and willfully ignoring the peacful protesrs who are using their voice instead of their hands. .

Those are crimes and that is wrong, But the only casualty were things, items, objects that could be replaced and profit, no one was harmed. Murdering unarmed indaviduals based on skin color and suspicion and brutallizing peaceful protesters is arguably much worse. They WERE harmed while not committing any crime other then speaking out and going about their day. Even if they did do something wrong, you should be arrested lawfully and investigated. Not murdered.

When you say “Blue Lives Matter” when I say “Black Lives Matter” it sounds like you are saying “Police matter more and should not be held accountable when they cross a line or take a life unjustly.”

Police know when they signed up that they put their lives on the line everyday to protect and serve others. They knew that there would be a chance they could get hurt or die to protect the community. Black people did not sign up to be black or be killed for doing everyday things or to be asssumed guilty and suspicious wherever they go or whatever they are doing. You can take off a uniform. You cant take off your skin.

When I say “ Black Lives Matter” I am merely stating a truthful fact. If you deny the truth or try to divert it, you are part of the problom, I’m trying be part of the solution.

Her name is Assa Traoré and she’s Adama Traoré’s sister.

Adama was killed 4 years ago on his 24th birthday by the police in 2016; Assa decided to fight for her brother and not let this crime be an “accident” or be part of the local news, for 4 years she kept fighting for her brother and for the black community. Her voice will not be stifled and we will keep shouting Adama’s name until justice is done.

So, I posted these pictures on Facebook last month. I used it as a sort of means to compare the protests for Black Lives Matter and the Prince of Peace losing his shit.

The comparison being the riots. Burning businesses as a result of Black individuals being murdered unjustified. Jesus, out of disgust for the profits being made in his Father’s house, destroyed shops and dumped their monies everywhere. He also made a whip and chased people around.

Anyhow. I was surprised to find how much resistance I got from the comparison. I felt it was a decent comparison. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, violent and destructive over the profits made on holy grounds. And the violence and destruction as a result of the alarming number of Black individuals being publicly executed, found chopped up, lynched, missing, etc.

I dunno. Maybe I am a shitty person for making the comparison. It just took me by surprise (not really) how aggressive/defensive/closed off some Christians can be. Honestly don’t mind being educated or constructive criticism, but the attacks were a bit ridiculous.

Is the US government gonna call this an act of terrorism? Call these individuals thugs, troublemakers, and terrorists? Or are these just good average American citizens or ‘fine people’? What will you call these people, Mr Trump?

Will you tell the police and armed guard to brutalise these individuals, lock them up, shoot at them, or beat them? Or will you let them tear up this ‘amazing and great country’ of yours? Too threaten people with their automatic weapons because, you have made people believe that the voting system is corrupt?

When do these dangerous individuals stop being called fine people, and start being called terriosts? Like you have done with every other protests that doesn’t fit the mould of your belief, Mr Trump. When will you be held accountable for your actions, and dangerous influence of the American population?

And I will ask one last time:

Mr Trump, where do you draw the line in your belief, that will condemn this as terrosim?

After the first or tenth death?

John Boyega speaking today during a Black Lives Matter peaceful protest in Hyde Park, London

Seeing this video I now know what a real leader looks like. I know I don’t understand the weight of his words as a white person, but I can recognise the pure unity and strength and honesty here and even to me it’s bloody awe- inspiring and if this doesn’t make people listen I don’t know what will.

Non-black allies, take note of the lady holding a microphone to his megaphone. For us, she’s an example of what we should be doing. Amplify their voices, don’t drown or talk over them. Stand beside them, not in front of them and lend our resources however we can. And if John Boyega’s career is in danger, or even if it’s not, we can watch, stream, boost and generally elevate the shit out of anything he’s ever been involved in- even instagram posts- so white casting directors and producers cannot ignore him because whatever anyone says, Hollywood is about profit and ifthey think audiences, especially white audiences, will pay to see him they won’t drop him so easily

TW: racism & death

Ok so I know that this is supposed to be a safe space for my fellow black people bc in my eyes we are going through so much pain rn and just need to be reminded how fucking phenomenal we are. But I really don’t know where else to share this experience.

I live in central Europe in one of the most racist countries here. Today during work I saw a message from one of my friends that a black man he knew was found dead in the river after being attacked by a group of white men at an event his new girlfriend invited him to. He died in a city at 3-4pm during the day. Of course the police and media are not covering this death for the soul reason of him being black.

The soulcrushing heartbreak and fear of knowing that it’s more than just weird looks from people you don’t know and passive aggressive insults masked as jokes, but real actual life threatening things is truly horrible. Nothing can compare to the pain of being called a slur in public and no one caring or finding out that people are being killed in your city and the police is doing nothing about it. The anxiety of “what if I’m next?” “What if my friends are next?”. I had a huge anxiety attack but continued my day because I didn’t know what else to do.

So just to anyone reading this, if anyone will read this. Have some compassion because we are going through so much pain rn. Simply not being racist isnt enough, be active bc this is not a trivial issue.

And to any black people who have a similar experience, pls know that you are precious and a gift to this earth and stronger than any hate that’s here. And I feel you and it’s ok to teak a break from the news and social media bc it can lead to ptsd, so pls take care of your mental health.
