i have a new addiction
to the vices i call ‘medicine’ -
but i promise it’s prescribed

chocolate, for the tears
coffee, for the head
oxytocin, for the heart

and when in need,
take all combined.

Recording moments:

2:34 a.m. July 19th, 2020

He falls asleep while I play with his hair

after he tells me my bare skin is cold and

wraps me up in his arms. Radiating warmth;

I wonder if it’s just the way he makes me

feel. He stares into my eyes until he can’t

fight it anymore and I kiss his lips gently

before untangling my fingers and soaking

up all the safety he offers before falling asleep.

It feels like a dream before the dreaming

even begins… It’s one of my favorite feelings.

More Than A Flower

I wanna talk about the way you touch me

when you’re not paying too much attention;

when your fingertips brush across my skin

quickly and gently, almost as if it didn’t

happen at all. Those moments leave me

feeling breathless; craving for more. When

you find yourself lost in the coffee that swirls

in my eyes, butterflies don’t just flutter in my

stomach, they sing. Bringing flowers to bloom.

I hear them talking in the depths of my soul;

chattering on about how you’re the one and I swoon.

Melting into the river of emotions I can never seem

to dry out; I flow through so quickly that

I’ve lost my breath all over again and…

It. Feels. So. Good.

More Than A Flower

I wish that

Across your back

Was a zipper.

And that I

Could crawl in.

So close, again.

TheRubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is one of the most famous works of Persian literature. These two editions are from the Peter Pauper Press. The first (1940) is illustrated by Paul McPharlin with border designs by Carl Cobbledick, who was inspired by ancient Persian manuscripts. The other (1949) is illustrated by Vera Bock, a Russian illustrator. These translations were both done by Edward Fitzgerald, but the McPharlin/Cobbledick edition is from Fitzgerald’s first-edition text, while the Bock is from the fourth edition. These are just two of the many beautiful editions of the Rubaiyat!

Feelings come to me in waves

A wave of sadness

I feel fine, and then again

A wave of loss

I hope you don’t miss me

And all that remains for you

Is a peaceful sea

Because letting go

Seemed like the right thing to do
