Several months after the showdown on the skiff, Alina and Mal travel close to the Fold again. They stay for the night at a small farm. Both are shocked when they meet one of the farmhands: A man with horrible scars on his face and no memory of his past. He quickly deduces from their reactions that not only do these people know him but also that he’s not a very nice person.
After getting to know him better, Alina starts to feel differently towards this man that seems to be so different from the general, a man that he always had the potential to be, if given the chance to live a quiet life.
Mal is suspicious, thinking Kirigan is faking the whole thing.

also i watched the netflix after party(overall wasn’t great but the s&b cast answers were worth it) but one of the hosts said that jesper was gay and i would just like to state that he’s bi/pan in cannon.
idk why but it’s bugging me a lot and i just had to get it out there
loved shadow and bone it was so amazing and the cast did such an amazing job with the characters everything was perfect but i’m a little sad we didn’t get to see kaz’s backstory with jordie but like i also didn’t want to cry an excessive amount soooo ig it’s okay but it was so great
Inej was looking in the mirror at Kaz. She would never say it out loud in front of other crows but she’s mesmerised by Kaz. Inej always found broken things beautiful and interesting. And then she met him.
Broken boy that became a man who’s fighting with his fears every day.
Literally everything about Kaz is interesting.
And sometimes breathtaking. The sharpness of his jaw, defined cheekbones, soft hair,mysterious eyes and soft hands that Inej loves to hold and kiss. Actually… Kaz Brekker is artwork that Inej could admire all day. Even though she could never say this to him. Maybe.
He’s trying to be a better man.
,,Inej i know you’re staring" Kaz voice woke her up from her thoughts.
She cleared her throat and rised an eyebrow at him, smiling. ,,So what? I like to admire my boyfriend.“ Kaz chuckled. ,, Is there something about me that’s worth of admiring?” His voice was low, just above a whisper.
Inej frowned,got up from bed and walked to him. ,,Kaz" top of her fingers caressed his cheek, making him tense but after closing his eyes and feeling the warm touch of her fingers his body and mind relaxed. “ She’s alright. She’s alive and safe. Calm down, Brekker” he said to himself. ,, Kaz look at me" He did and the fact that she’s close to him and her glistening eyes looking right into his started to make him blush and his heart beat a bit faster.
,,Kaz..“ her soft soothing voice went straight into his heart.
She started to trace his jaw with her finger. ,, Kaz Brekker there’s so much about you that’s worth admiring…” she traced his jaw with her finger. ,,you see everyone so clearly…" he looked at her, confused. ,, except yourself… you tell me that you’re not worthy of being loved…that’s not true. You’re worthy of my love.“
Please let me love you” there was something different in her voice now. Pain?
,,Inej" he grabbed her hand in his and placed it on his chest. ,, I am sorry… thank you for everything. I love you too"
Inej felt a little tears forming in her eyes but she blinked them away, smiling after Kaz placed a soft kiss on her forehead and maked her giggle. ,,that’s the laugh" ,,well technically this was a giggle" Kaz laughed. And Inej fell in love with that sound. Damn.. she actually fell in love with him over again.
,,that’s almost the same thing, wraith" It was Inej who laughed this time. ,,now THAT’S the laugh" Inej chuckled and looked up at him.
,,I love you, Kaz Brekker" she whispered, stand on her tiptoes and gently brushed her lips against his. Little smile formed on her lips as Kaz returned the kiss.
After she pulled away she went back to bed. ,, okay now let’s go to sleep. Or are you planning another Ice Court heist ? “ Kaz closed his eyes and took a deep breath. ,,never again” He made her laugh again.. wanting to bottle up the sound. As always.
That night, they fell asleep holding hands.
