Friendly reminder that -

• Percy’s neutral expression is a natural brooding look that he gets from Poseidon
  
• That when he does smile it’s crooked and makes him look like a trouble maker
  
• When he talks it’s usually very sarcastic and/or impertinent 
  
• His inner monologue is actually very negative and while we, as the readers, take it as a joke he’s usually pretty pessimistic for a good portion of the time
  
• That when he’s fighting his expression is fierce and is hard to tell whether he is the good guy or not
• That Leo Valdez equated Percy’s angry expression to the feeling he gets when Jason is about to shoot lightning. Let me repeat - just the look on Percy’s face when he’s angry was considered on par to Jason controlling flipping lightning
  
• That he’s very very vindictive and loyal only to those he considers his friends and once you lose his trust it is nearly impossible to earn back 
  
• That while he had the curse of achilles, he laughed crazily while he was single handedly destroying hordes of monsters
  
• He made an entire volcano erupt, awakened a giant, and almost wiped out the northwest of the united states
  
• He tortured a godess just so she would feel his misery
  
• That he’s actually very manipulative and it made Annabeth step back for a moment and reevaluate her perception of him
  
• That while his dark side came to it’s peak in house of hades and wasn’t mentioned in blood of olympus, there was no confirmation that it suddenly and completely disappeared after they left Tartarus.
• Has been the child of the prophecytwice.
  
• He manipulated Bob to kill his own brother by simply convincing him that they were friends and that is what friends did for each other
  
• He was physically abused by his step father
  
• That with absolutely no training at all he killed the minotaur with it’s own horn at the mere age of twelve
  
• He wins a good majority of his fights by simply outsmarting his opponent 
  
• He has scared not only Annabeth but his friends and peers on more than one occasion with his attitude and powers
  
• That he’s considered extremely powerful for a demigod and for a child of the big three and makes the gods slightly nervous
  
• That when he’s upset his powers act to mimic his emotions without him even trying
• Has been offered immortality
  
• That he is actually really sorta intimidating without trying 
  
• That we need to stop reducing Percy’s character to a happy-go-lucky comic relief goofball that doesn’t know his left foot from right because he is so much more than that
  

Well this post has unbelievably gotten more than 30k likes/reblogs and I can now die happy . To celebrate, I’m extending the list of canon moments for those of you who are interested.

• Percy has been to anger management classes. 
• The name Perseus literally translates to “To Destroy.” Do with that what you will. 
• Percy and his mother systematically murdered his abusive step father. And not only did Percy not feel a bit of repulse at the idea of killing someone, he offered to kill Gabe by himself if his mother couldn’t do it, then felt regret that he wasn’t the one who strike the final blow. His exact inner thought was - “How could I turn down the perfect chance to take revenge on him?”
  
• After Percy killed Arachne in Tartarus, his exact words to Annabeth was “She died too easy, considering how much torture he put you through. She deserved worse.” And it unsettled Annabeth so much that she was almost glad Arachne died quickly.
• Like dam, if you haven’t figured it out already, Percy kinda has a thing for revenge.
• Percy’s powers grow extraordinarily fast, show no signs of stopping any time soon, and are no longer bound to only salt water or pure water liquids but now encompass all water-based liquids.
• Percy blood bended in Tartarus.
• “He didn’t want to stop. He wanted to choke this goddess. He wanted to watch her drown in her own poison. He wanted to see just how much misery Misery could take.” - Perseus Jackson while torturing Akhlys.
• Luke and Kronos when talking about Percy not only referred to him as a weapon, but an unreliable one at that.
  
• Frank literally compared Percy’s fighting style to a demon.
  
• Percy pretty much took out half of the Roman Legion single-handedly during the War Games and basically just caused mass chaos and panic.
  
• When Frank, Hazel, and Percy were traveling in SoN, street gangs didn’t bother them because one look from Percy sent them running in the other direction. One look.
  
• Percy’s wolf stare was described as “No matter how bad you think you are, I’m worse.”

Everyone remember that camp half blood has an orientation film right? So, what if after everything they reshoot it but with Percy Jackson.

“So, you’ve just found out you’re a demigod. I’ve got horrible news for you-”

“ *somewhere behind the camera* Percy! don’t scare them!”

*camera gets dropped while annabeth and percy argue and grover picks it up while trying to calm them down and you see the two arguing then the camera pans to see Chiron with his hand to his face looking tired because this was going to be a long day*

Whenever y’all disregard how Luke treated Annabeth or try to deny the fact that his attraction was even there I immediately get bad vibes. Y’all are jumping through hoops to defend a 23 year old being having the hots for a 16 year old why?? “We can’t trust the first person narration!!” BABES we can’t trust you.Why are we defending this is 2022. And better yet, why do people consistently bring this up to me? My opinion is not changing

Annabeth’s relationship with her dad is “complicated.” The same man who used to put on audiobook versions of his textbooks so Annabeth could fall asleep told her just how inconvenient her birth was repeatedly. He took her to monument after monument so that they could spend time together, but not before ignoring her for years. He tells her he cares about her often, but he didn’t even search for her when she ran away. He married so that she could have a “mom” and a “real family” but stood quietly when she was forbidden from playing with her baby brothers. He could’ve died trying to help her after Luke kidnapped her, but she could’ve died on the streets after she ran away because of his neglect. She fiddles with the ring he gave her, his collegering, to prove his love for her as if he gave her affection at all.

Rick’s newest blog post really is the funniest thing. There’s all these people screaming about accuracy and how the actors must have this color hair and eyes and mustbe this ethnicity, race, etc. only for Rick to flat out tell them it does not matter. “But-but- Rick wrote them a specific way! So they NEED to stay that way!!” Baby Rick himself doesnt remember the way he wrote them

Riordanverse Opinions I refuse to budge on:

Hot takes part three?? Ig?? These aren’t hot takes at all at this point and if you know me you’ve probably heard me talk about these points multiple times

• The punch line for Leo in ToA was atrocious. There was nothing funny about it and the entire scene was just uncomfortable not to mention down right stupid.
• Calypso should’ve joined the hunters instead of Reyna. She didn’t necessarily need a romantic relationship, just connection. She clearly has a strong sense of family and it would’ve done her good to see the world while in a sisterhood
• Rick literally made Calypso almost stupid and helpless for absolutely no reason?? I’m not sure if anyone else remembers in the dark prophecy when she kicked that metal monster and got hurt and then immediately punched it and broke her hand but why. Then she literally was forced to hobble with her boyfriend and Lester. Literally why would she do that. I’m not really a giant fan of her, but Rick giving one of the most feminine characters no fighting ability and then removing her powers gives me the ick.
• He probably did it to make Leo seem like a better, caring boyfriend. which is also stupid. Despite all the many issues with Caleo, we know both of them care about each other. Calypso didn’t need to look stupid to show that Leo cares about her
• I like the idea of having a Greek version of New Rome. I had no idea that some people were so strongly against it but I think it’s cool and fun
• People who go into whole rants about why Annabeth is so much smarter than Leo are annoying
• I think the fact that Annabeth was afraid of Percy in Tartarus was dumb. I’ve heard so many arguments against it because ‘it reminded her of Luke’ or ‘she was scared for him’ etc, but I still think Annabeth would never be scared of him considering their history and his fatal flaw
• I really dislike the whole little plot with Percy and Annabeth being uncomfortable with Tyson. I get how it was supposed to be read, but it came off really weird
• This isn’t really an opinion but we should look into why so many Annabeth anti’s ship Lukercy or Pernico. If you hate Annabeth whatever I disagree, but the Annabeth anti to Lukercy/pernico pipeline is weird
• I like widely beloved Camp counselor!Annabeth much better than widely beloved Camp counselor!Percy. Annabeth is the camp sweetheart and Percy is that one counselor who only a select few trust because everyone finds them intimidating
• It’s very interesting to me that people widely disliked Lester x Reyna (as they should) but are still okay with Calypso x Leo even though it’s practically the same thing
• When criticizing characters theres so much to think about. Yeah ig you can say Piper has internalized misogyny but then you have to remember Piper might not like dresses and makeup because the way native women are over-sexualized. Same with other characters. Call out Leo’s gross behavior but remember that the way Rick wrote him includes lots of gross Latin stereotypes
• Chiron is annoying as hell pisses me off now that im rereading

The grown adults in this fandom getting upset over Percy and Annabeth possibly being people of color are so funny. Like go pay your bills or something instead of getting mad over hypothetical child actors

Literally love camp counselor Annabeth so so much. I know she left to college (and realistically speaking that’s sm better for her and her story) but something about 18 year old Annabeth who’s been to hell and back and held the entire sky on her shoulders patiently teaching an almost six year old how to hold a sword is so cute

i hope y'all that want a hoo adaptation are aware of the fact that so much of it would need to be rewritten for it to be actually good. hoo is a convoluted mess and the adaptation would probably end up being VERY loosely based on the original because of everything that would need to be fixed
