This monthly column, “Junko Sophie’s Hidden Kyoto Vol.10“, has just been released!
Junko’s essays are presented in Japanese, English, Chinese and French.
In this February issue, Junko shares with us the final destination of the silk road and “The excotic capital KYOTO.” Her column features a temple with an exotic Chinese atmosphere, a kimono that reflects the “exotic beauty” that celebrates the Lunar New Year, and a meal in a luxurious mansion where Japanese and Western tastes meet. Fushimi Inari shrine in the early morning.
The Torii is literally the meaning of “Passing through” and is said to be the gateway from the world in which we are (present world) in which God is (ghost world). Whenever I pass through this Torii gate, my heart becomes even more calm.
早朝の伏見稲荷。
鳥居とは「通り入る」の意味があり、私たちがいる世界（現世）から、神様がいる世界（幽界）への関門なのだうです。
いつもこちらの千本鳥居を通る時は、いっそう心が静まりかえりますね。
Kimono style of the last day. Kimono was worn by my grandmother decades ago.
過日の装い。
祖母が着ていた着物に何十年ぶりに袖を通しました。
裄丈や身丈も短いし、地味だと思い箪笥の肥やしになっていましたが、
よく見るとグレーのような色はすべて銀糸で、控えめな煌めきがとても好みでした
八掛と羽織の色がぴったりなのは、小さな歓び。
羽織紐のグラデーションや細やかな織りに、うっとり。
着物を纏うと満悦になりますね。
今宵は美しい十三夜です。
片見月になりませんよう、お月見をしましょうね✨

夏の愉しみ
風が吹くたびに優しくそよぐ姿と澄み切った音色が、涼を運んできてくれますね。
A beautiful bell is a symbol of summer in Japan. They are made of metal or glasses. When the wind blews, they ring. The sound makes us a little cooler in hot summer.
美妙的鈴鐺是日本夏天的象徵。 它們由金屬或玻璃製成。 當風吹來時，他們響了。 聲音使我們在炎熱的夏天涼爽一些。
やっと梅雨明けしましたね。これから、暑い暑い京都の夏を楽しみましょう☀️
Finally the rainy season was over in Kyoto. Enjoy the very hot summer of Kyoto.
