…If you just gave it a try, you probably felt all the neighboring muscles engage simultaneously, from your forearm, bicep, shoulder, even into your core!

When applying it to the weight you lift, gripping the handle like you’re going to crush it tenses up your body and prepares your mind for a heavy external load.

Try it next time you lift and tell us if you automatically feel stronger! “. You don’t want to always clinch your fist when lifting bells though, on movements like the snatch and clean, you want to have a looser grip to punch through on the movement. Does the KB Slam against your wrist during Cleans? thanks for your share @sciaccia !

“The most common mistake I’ve seen is the lack of awareness happening at the shoulder & elbow during a Clean. Let’s slow it down and look at what is EXACTLY is happening that can cause the KB to come in slamming the forearm!

1) The KB cast away from the body results from elbow extension and shoulder flexion …you are literally pushing the KB away from you. As a result, the KB travels a further distance and more time/energy is wasted!

KEY POINT: when casting like this, the trajectory of the bell is “arched” ( or rounded (half circle), so when it’s traveling back up, it follows the same path (far away from body) and comes crashing into the chest. Make sense?

Take a look at 2): I keep the KB closer and manipulate its trajectory by PULLING MY ELBOWS BEHIND ME (shoulder extension) then allowing the KB to drop down (elbow extension), following a straighter path.

“4 rounds in a row of each exercise, every minute on the minute. I adjust the reps/tempo based on my recovery and how long it takes to complete—generally a 15-20 second work period to a 40-45 sec recovery is what I aim for. For that reason, it’s important that each effort is close to max effort.

1. High catch cleans (I ended up doing 5 each side to make it challenging enough for me)
2. Goblet skater squats
3. Elevated push up to should tap
4. Alternating clean to front squat
5. Alternating staggered bent over rows
6. Dynamic goblet Cossack squats
7. Weighted jumps
