Felt really good to run some real distance tonight,I’ve been a bit slack with my running this last month,letting life and distractions get on top of me but I’m back in the game and feeling more motivated than ever

I love it when I get to the gym with no real set time or distance in mind and I can just switch off and let my mind wander off,tonight was one f those times and before I knew it,I had run 10km in my quickest time so far.

Afternoon run before the rain set in.Even Rudy enjoyed going out for a run,not our fastest time but I’m just glad we got to run outside,have been cooped up in the gym for a while now and I was starting to forget how beautiful it is to run off road.

Just running in a snow squall the day before Thanksgiving. Winter, you’re not gonna be easy this year are you? A good reminder to soak in the more mild weather now while you can! ☺️ Winter Running Tip: set a threshold. Two winters ago I told myself I’d run outside as long as it was over 10 degrees. Otherwise I took it to the treadmill if I wasn’t feeling braver than the elements. Treadmill miles are real miles! Since I’m training for spring races again, I plan to use that strategy again this year; however, I did invest in an indoor track club - so now I just need to get my butt there during the week!

Happy hump day! ✨ I had to wake up extra early to go to the dentist this morning. Almost didn’t go because I truly hate needles so much and did not want to do it. Honestly though it was worth it in the end because I got to laugh at my half immobile face until the lidocaine wore off. After the dentist I was able to squeeze in 3x mile repeats at the track. My times were: 7:30, 7:45, and 8:30. I hate speed work but I also *really* want to improve my race times! Also the park where I run on the track has an amazing view of Ranier, plus pretty blossoms are popping up all over Seattle! ✨ Here’s to making it half way through the week!

Today was a great day! I started off with a 5 mile run, and the pace was amazing for me. 9:30 may seem slow to some but I used run a 9:30/mile 5k so 5 miles at that pace is really good. It has also been beautiful all day so I have been soaking up the vitamin D and feeling really good.

Breaking news!
I’m not running a marathon this year. I’m not running a half marathon either. Hell I’m not even running a 10k.
I have zero desire to run long distances right now and I’m perfectly okay with that.

Before the pandemic hit, I was training for my first half marathon race after having my 2nd child. As much as I tried not to put pressure on myself, I still felt it.
Then I had a knee pain that required physical therapy and I thought “Oh shit.”
Then I kept getting sick thanks to having a little one in preschool bring home all the germs and I thought “Double Oh Shit!”
Then the pandemic hit and I cancelled my race(before they eventually cancelled) and felt relief. Like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

I decided to take several weeks off and did spinning instead.

When I returned to running, it was in memory of Ahmaud Arbery. A 2.23 mile run that felt way harder than it should’ve. I was slow and felt so out of shape but I missed being outdoors so I decided to try again and again and again. Initially I was paying attention to all the numbers; pace, time, distance and would complain about my run. Then one day I stopped paying attention to the numbers and committed to just showing up for as long as my body felt good and then I would stop. Whether that was at mile 1 mile or mile 3. I would stop and walk home. I did this for a few weeks and something clicked. My mind and body felt better and I started to run stronger.

Instead of coming back from a run feeling defeated, I would come home with a big ole smile on my face and dance around for my cool down.

My runs right now are short and easy but super enjoyable which is exactly what I need them to be. 3-4x a week and having fun

GUYS!!!!! I am so excited right now! Ok just RAN a 5k! RAAAN! As in NO stopping to walk! I had no idea I could do that! Sure, i was jogging at a snails pace and moms with strollers could probably lap me, but stiiiiiill!!! I also got negative freaking splits! I am so pumped and so ready to work on getting faster! And going further! Half marathon I’m coming back for you!
