Things To Research As A Green Witch MASTERLIST

A green witch is typically a witch who specializes and focuses on natural materials and energies. They are often skilled herbalists and probably enjoys gardening. Like a lot. You might be a baby green witch or an experienced one. Maybe even an eclectic one, no matter what, all is welcome!

I am most certainly not entitled to knowing everything about green witches but I want to help out some people when stuck on not knowing what to research.

As always, enjoy!

When reading palms, whether your own or someone else’s, these are the main things to consider:

  1. Which hand is dominant? For right-handed people, the left hand gives information about inherited characteristics and potential, while the righthand reveals the development, character, and life events. The opposite is true for left-handed folks!
  2. Quality of lines and their points of intersection. How strong or fine are the lines? Are they straight and long, broken and twisted, etc.?
  3. The directions of lines, which mounts they occur on or near, and their influences.
  4. Shape of the hand, fingers, nails, and mounts.
  5. General demeanor of the person and the hand.

MAJOR LINES

Each line has its own meaning and depicts a certain course of action in a person’s life. Lines come in all shapes and sizes. Not everyone has all six of these lines, although the first three are always present (the fate line is usually present as well).

  • Heart line: emotions, insecurities, marriages, dependence and independence, the nature of your relationships.
  • Head line: intellect, reasoning powers, prospective career paths, potentials for success.
  • Life line: pattern and quality of life, physical vitality, stability or imbalance, will power and logic, not necessarily the indicator for length of your life.
  • Fate/Saturn line: strengths of character, career, friendships, life’s daily problems, and general ability to succeed.
  • Mercury/Health line: health matters, business and adventure, the spirit of discovery.
  • Apollo/Sun line: utilization of creative energies and potentials for success through development of talents.

MOUNTS

The mounts are fleshy cushions underneath each of the fingers. These mounts carry the same name as the finger they are under. Below are the different character and personality traits associated with each finger/mount.

  • Mercury: Pinky. buoyancy, shrewdness, wit, spirit.
  • Apollo/Sun: Ring finger. compassion, love of beauty, artistic abilities, potential for success.
  • Saturn/Fate: Middle finger. seriousness, cautiousness, gloom, superstition.
  • Jupiter: Index finger. leadership, honor, ambition, spirituality/religiousness.
  • Lower Mars: Below pinky. moral courage, self-control.
  • Upper Mars: Below thumb. resistance, coolness of spirit, calmness, courage.
  • Venus: Thumb. benevolence, affection, humility, passion.
  • Moon: sentimentaliity, imagination, self-centeredness

CONFIGURATIONS

These are just a few of the figurative markings that are commonly seen on the hand. They add meaning to the lines or mounts they are near.

  • Branches: emphasize strengths.
  • Breaks in lines: emphasize weaknesses.
  • Chains: signify obscure goals, inclinations to deviate.
  • Crosses: signify upheavals, violence, struggles, and blunders.
  • Islands: indicate delays, injuries, and problems.
  • Stars: emphasize luckiness.

*** I will be posting more about palmistry soon, including more detailed variations of the lines and mounts! In the meantime, feel free to ask me about your palms… sending me a picture would be AMAZING :~)

(based on a recipe from Sacred Year, by Anni Daulter)

  • 2 ounces of dried rose petals
  • 4 - 6oz honey
  • 10 - 12 ounces of vodka or brandy
  • 1 pint canning jar

Mix together in the jar and let infuse in a cool place protected from sunlight (you might also like to charge up your elixir under the full moon or new moon).

(This elixir is intended to offer support with anxiety or emotional stress. It can be dropped under the tongue, stirred into water or tea, or added to a bath)

Silphium integrifolium(Rosinweed)

Bloom Time: Jul , Aug , Sep

DESCRIPTION:A coarse perennial, 3-6 ft. tall with numerous large, yellow composite flowers. Each flower head has 20-30 yellow rays and darker yellow disks. Stout leaves are joined at stem to form a small cup that holds water and attracts birds.(Wildflower Center) This species has square stems and leaves that are mostly opposite, egg-shaped, toothed, with cuplike bases that hold water (Kindscher 1987). The flower heads are rich, golden yellow, 2.5 centimeters in diameter, and closely grouped at the tips of the stems (Hunter 1984). The small, tubular disk flowers are in the middle of the flower and is sterile and does not produce fruits (Ladd, 1995).

PORTION OF THE PLANT USED: Leaves and roots.

TRADITIONAL USES: Chippewa Native Americans used the simple or compound decoction of root for “stoppage of periods,” for back and chest pain and for lung hemorrhage. A poultice of moistened, dried root was applied to wounds to stop bleeding.

Iroquois used the decoction of roots as an emetic and as face wash for paralysis. Burned root soot was placed on child’s cheek to prevent them from seeing ghosts. Meskwaki used the root to “alleviate the vomiting of pregnancy.” Infusion of root taken by women to prevent premature birth. Root used to reduce profuse menstruation and as an anti-emetic during pregnancy.

Ojibwa infusion of root taken for lumbago and other rheumatic back pains, stomach trouble and hemorrhage.

Cup plant’s young leaves were cooked in the spring as a green (Kindscher 1987). It was also used as a chewing gum to help prevent vomiting (Runkel & Roosa 1989). The Winnebagos tribe believed that this species has supernatural powers. They would drink a concoction derived from the rhizome to purify them before going on a buffalo hunt. It is used in the treatment of liver and spleen disorders and has also been used to treat morning sickness (Moerman 1998).

POLLINATOR:Rosin Weed attracts a variety of pollinators but it is especially relished by some of our smaller solitary bees. The plant gets its common name from the sticky rosin it produces, which was used as a chewing gum by the Native Americans. Rosin weed is quick to mature once germinated, reaching flowering size surprisingly fast.

Add white, pink, and red rose petals, honeysuckle blossoms and rose water to bath filled with water. Substitute hydrosols with fresh flowers if necessary. (optional esstial oils to add: lavender, rosemary, chamomile, and jasmine)

Place a rose quartz large enough to not go down the drain in the bath too.

Soak in the scented bath.

Find yourself in the stillness, calmness, quiet & peacful place in your bath amongst the loving frangrace of rose petals, flowers, rose water and essential oils. Place your focus now on the person who broke your heart or the memory that broke your heart… if you begin to cry, allow the tears to flow down your cheek and into the bath water. Say the persons name out loud and command that all the power and sweetness you gave to this person be given back to you.

Example : Gregorio, you broke my heart, and now I command the universe to give back to me, all the power, sweetness and love I ever gave to you. Gregorio, I gave you my heart becuase I found you worthy, I now command the universe to give me back my heart because I have realized the only person worthy of holding and protecting my heart is ME. I love me. I love me so much. I forgive myself for allowing for someone outside of me to take my power and break my heart. My power, my sweetness, my love, my heart is flowing back to me now.

After you have cried, yelled, said your affrimations, played with your roses, and anything else you felt called to do in your bath, take the rose quartz and place it on your heart… allow for all the emotions and tears that filled the bathwater to now drain out… as it drains out chant the words “I RELEASE YOU NOW WITH UNCONDITIONAL LOVE”

Following the bath, carry the rose quartz with you. Sleep with it under your pillow until you don’t need it any more.

Hello there, my dears! This is my own personal recipe for lemon spearmint green tea imbued with luck, healing, prosperity, and protection. It’s very simple and easy to make, and it’s especially refreshing on a hot summer day.

Ingredients:

♡ Spearmint leaves (you can use any type of mint you want, I just happen to be growing spearmint at the moment)

♡ Green tea bags (I buy the large store brand ones)

♡ Lemon juice or an actual lemon

♡ Sugar or honey

Put a pot of water on the stove to boil. I use a big pot because I like to make a gallon at a time. Wash your mint leaves and set them aside. Add your tea bags to your water (it won’t be boiling yet). The box will tell you how many to add for the amount of water you are using (or just eyeball it like I do). Before you add your mint leaves, center yourself and focus your energy. Tear each leaf in half and drop it into the water. The tearing helps to release more flavor and put your own energy into the leaves. As you drop the leaves into the water, chant the words luck, healing, prosperity, and protection however many times you feel is necessary. I tend to say each word as I drop in a leaf, imbuing that leaf with the power of that word. Let your tea come to a boil, while stirring here and there. I also tend to chant while I’m stirring. Once it has come to a boil remove the tea bags, take it off of the heat, and transfer it into whatever container you wish to use. I have a trusty plastic gallon sized pitcher than I use for my magickal teas. Add in your sugar or honey. I use anywhere between a half cup and a full cup of sugar for a gallon, but add however much you wish. Add some more spearmint leaves as well. Add in a few squirts of lemon juice for happiness. Alternatively, just squeeze a lemon into the container and/or add lemon slices. That’s it! Stick it in the refrigerator to cool off and serve over ice.

Pro tip: If you are harvesting the mint yourself, make sure to thank the plant for allowing you to harvest it, don’t take more than you need, and don’t harvest in a way that injures the plant. (you can always google how to properly harvest certain herbs without harming the plant itself)

Happy tea making, dearies ♡♡♡

earth salt

  • thyme
  • any seed

grind everything together; you can charge it in the sunlight before use to reawaken or with crystals you associate with earth/other intent you may have for your specific use
