Today I want to share with you something very crucial that happened in my country.
Yesterday (May 15, 2020) in Poland a pro-life (anti-choice) activist Zuzanna Wiewiórka was honored with a medal of justice.
(”Stop hate for life defenders”)
She have been harassing a seventeen years old girl, who wanted to have an abortion due to risk of death. The teenager was seeking help online and she was found by the activist, who stalked, blackmailed and sent her pictures of aborted babies.
Moreover this is not Wiewiórka’s first action like that.
The girl refused changing her mind about abortion, but the activist was unstoppable and got information (most likelyillegaly) about her child’s father and her family in order to tell them about young girl’s plans. The family locked her at homeand she is apparently struggling with side effects of a failed abortion made with non-medical tools.
Zuzanna Wiewiórka also said that “Blowing up clinics offering abortions is a good way to prevent murder and killing doctors who provide abortions is crucial to stop killing innocent”.
What’s more Zuzanna’s brother Maciej Wiewiórka supports his sister. He said that “Sometimes rape is the only chance for a man to have sex”. I do not even know how to comment that I will leave you with that.
How could someone who technically took away that young girl’s life get a prize for saving a life?How is she called a hero?
I wanted to mention that anti-choice activist try to take advantage of epidemy and lockdown that makes strikes impossible. Their actions do not seem like life saving at all.
I am shaking right now. I cannot even imagine how the poor teenager must be feeling. I definitely do not want to live in a world like that.

Probably not many of you know what is currently the “top of the news” in my country, Poland and how abso-fucking-lutely terryfing it is to be woman here right now.
The “Stop Abortion” civic committee has almost succeeded in submitting a draft law introducing a complete ban on abortion and a new category into the criminal code – “prenatal murder”, which will introduce penalty of 3 to 5 years in prison for women, doctors and anyone helping a woman to perform an abortion. If abortion is unintentional the penalty will be up to 3 years. The Court will have the possibility to drop charges. In the rationale, the authors of the draft law quote the teachings of Polish Pope, John Paul II, refer to the Polish constitution which grants legal protection to all human beings (it doesn’t however clarify when human life begins) and also selectively quote the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Additionally they also propose to replace the term “human fetus” with “conceived child” where possible. The draft law doesn’t at all refer to the protection of woman’s life, health and wellbeing (prenatal examinations may no longer be undertaken in fear of damaging the fetus and therefore landing in jail).
This anti-choice initiative is currently waiting for the decision of the Marshall of the Sejm on whether it will be registered. The deadline for decision is Monday, April 11th. If successful, the “Stop Abortion” committee will then have 3 months to collect 100 000 signatures to ensure that the law will be debated in the Polish Parliament.
Only recently Polish Prime Minister, Beata Szydło, said that she supports this initiative and “hopes for a reasonable voice on behalf of the episcopate to ensure a substantive discussion”. On Sunday, April 3rd, the statement of the Polish episcopate was read aloud in all churches in Poland. The signatories of this document state that life begins from the moment of conception and ends with natural death. They called upon all people, Parliamentarians and policy makers to ensure legal protection of unborn children.
The anti-choice community, with great support from the Catholic and conservative groups, is currently very strong as the current government consists mainly of politicians with conservative attitudes.
What does it mean for every girl, every woman out there in my country if they manage to pass this law?
Pregnancies from rapes will be have to be carried through till the end.
Pregnancies where it is a known fact that the child will die upon birth - due to sever distortions, prenatal faults etc. - will be have to be carried through till the end.
A woman’s natural right to her own body, her right to make decisions about HER OWN BODY will be legally taken away from her, in a staggering fashion that I still am unable to comprehend and believe possible in the middle of Europe and in the 21st century.
A woman will stop being a human being, with a mind of her own and a will of her own, and in result be reduced to a role of - yes, I dare to say it - a mere human incubator. It won’t matter how scarring and traumatic the events that led to her being pregnant were. It won’t matter how painful and heartbreaking it will be when she gives birth to a body with no head. All in the name of “life” where in fact there is none.

Why coat hangers? To bring attention to the fact that these were the tool used by desperate women wishing to perform abortion when it was banned. They are also present during protests in Poland at the moment.

Fellow straight women in the United States: sex strike NOW. Dump your boyfriend. Refuse to hook up with ANYONE. Do not marry. Do not date. Not until Roe v. Wade is guaranteed in all 50 states. Make no mistake, ladies. Our reproductive rights and bodily autonomy are under attack, and for many of us, this will not end well. Women with ectopic pregnancies will go septic and die as their already-dead fetuses rot inside of them. Rape victims will be forced to give birth to their rapists’ babies. Women are going to die from medically-untrained butchers giving them dangerous back-alley abortions. Thousands of underage girls will become mothers to children that they can’t afford to care for, and don’t know how to do so either, for that matter. Not to mention all of the women (myself included) who absolutely hate idea of becoming mothers. They will be basically forced into it if they have sex with a man and end up pregnant from the encounter. Don’t think that women exist just to be walking baby incubators for men? Well then, it would appear that the government disagrees with you on that.
Let’s be real, here. Do you actually want to risk pregnancy under such conditions, anyway? Men only value women for what we can provide for them, and one of the biggest things we provide that men value the most is sex. The same way that capitalists value workers for their labor. When workers refuse to provide that labor until certain conditions are met, the employing company is left with the choice of either meeting their requests or losing valuable time and money without enough employees to work for them. Women can do the same. No sex or female companionship for men until our demands are met. Drop the men and use your vibrators or whatever instead.

I’ve been for years vocalizing my discomfort with radfems in particular and all ideologies that prioritize cis women and gloss over situations where cis women are abusers/oppressors in general.
