Jackie is a war vet coming home from a long deployment.

Anti is his lucky black cat that he’s been missing for years now.

When he returns home, however, he finds his best friend, Marvin, missing—although he was supposed to be cat sitting Anti for him while he was deployed…

He goes to call him and ask where he is—but there’s a man in his kitchen.

The man is short with dark skin (dark gray, he later learns) and black hair.

He has eerily familiar piercing green eyes when he turns, a CAT EAR flicking atop his head as he picks up the sounds of Jackie walking and gasping.

The can of tuna he’d been holding in his black clawed hands falls.

And then Jackie has an armful of purring, “YE’RE BACK!!!”

It turns out, Jackie learns, that Anti is actually a daemon.

A CAT daemon. He’d been arguing with a dog daemon (ex?) friend of his (Dark) in the alleyway Jackie had found him in and was too tired to tell him anything when the human decided to rescue him and nurse him back to health.

By the time he WAS healthy again…

He just liked being with Jackie.

Marvin, of course, still got an earful.

He WAS supposed to be watching him, after all.

Still, the flamboyant man only sighed and rolled his eyes.

He then revealed that he’d actually been a magician this whole time and realized, albeit belatedly and only after Anti refused to be taken care of by him, the truth when he came to cat sit Anti and found… well, a cat DAEMON instead.

(After a discussion, he decided to just bring the daemon food every few days.)

“So…” Jackie breathes deeply, trying not to be angry, “You just… left him???”

“Well…” Marvin, the veteran can somehow tell, looks around himself nervously, as though Jackie’s gonna pop out of no where and take him down (which, honestly, he COULD do). “He said he only wanted to be with YOU…”

The magician trails off unsurely but Jackie can hear the truth in his words.

He glances down at the purring cat daemon in his lap and sighs, “It’s fine.”

Dark runs a bodyguard firm called Iplier Protection with his husband, Wilford.

They utilize a variety of methods ranging from swordsmanship (headed by Yani) to gun-slinging (headed by, of course, Wilford, himself) to even cybernetics (headed jointly by Google and Bing) and legality (headed by Dark, himself).

Next to their headquarters is a little antique store called Ancient Eye.

It’s Yani’s favorite place to get her tool of trade; and it’s run by Anti.

The Ipliers hadn’t paid much attention to it, at first.

It was just a little store they passed on their way into work every morning; nothing special about it. It might have had a few cool furniture items here and some particularly nice looking decorations there; but it was just a stuff old place full of stuffy old things and they assumed it was run by a stuff old person.

And they were just too high end for that kind of thing.

Then, Yani got locked out in the rain one day.

Her job had run too long that day and she missed the carpool back home.

Normally, when this happens, it’s fine because she usually has a key; but, ridiculously, she lost her key down a manhole while fighting for her client.

Dark didn’t let her hear the end of it when she called for a ride home.

Coincidently, he didn’t let Anti hear the end of it, either.

The antique dealer had been stepping out for a peaceful moment in the rain.

It’s his favorite kind of weather and relaxes him greatly no matter the problem.

So, he’d been surprised to step outside and find his serene moment impossible because what appeared to be a young girl was standing out in the pouring rain getting her ear yelled off by what appeared to be her father(?) on the phone.

After an awkward moment, he offered to let her wait for Dark inside.

Yani hadn’t really expected much from the old store.

Her interests (outside of swords) tend to lean towards more… modern things. Like video games and computers. The oldest thing she likes is probably music.

She’s not even that into paintings or books or statues.

But that’s not all Anti has.

Her jaw almost dropped when she saw it: his collection of all things SHARP.

Spears, daggers, knives, even her beloved swords were all there.

Hanging on walls, sitting in cases, encased in resin…

Dark ended up adding Anti to their protection list.

Well, have an AU where all the Septic Egos are normal humans (?) with cats that look just like them and vice versa; they even generally act like them, too.

So, whenever they get together (they all live in the same apartment building but different apartments [with Sean as landlord] so they’ve become good neighbors; some are even balcony buddies): their cats cause a BUNCH of trouble!

Now of course cus Belos starts from scratch each time they won’t be able to remember the past memories with that person’s previous lives, but what if over the centuries the same ‘core’ (Whatevers used as the Brain or Heart) is recycled each time and even after having a memory wipe the heart would still have a feeling towards a particular person due to having known them throughout all their previous lifes.
