docmcarter:

recently i reread all harry potter books and it was just fascinating!
it’s so nice to remember the actions that you forgot, scenes, places, characters ahhh a love these books so much!
soooo I decided to draw harry’s classmates as i imagined them while reading <3

(btw I was always amused how harry never met ALL of his classmates from other houses throughout his studing at hogwarts
like “ok i know only 4 ravenclaw guys…
well then i guess padma has the biggest bedroom in whole hogwarts”)

Gossip isn’t always right. It isn’t always wrong, either.  Rita had gotten it half right in her Worl

Gossip isn’t always right.

It isn’t always wrong, either.  Rita had gotten it half right in her World Cup coverage- Hannah had retrained as a Healer at St. Mungo’s.  But she wasn’t planning to take over from Madame Pomfrey.  She wasn’t planning to take a job at Hogwarts at all.

No, Hannah had found her calling a different way.  She’d spent far too many nights serving far too much firewhiskey to former classmates, stay up far too late bringing tea and biscuits to crying friends who came to speak to Neville.  Seen far too many broken hearts and broken minds.

St. Mungo’s didn’t have the training she needed.  She became a Healer because she needed the title for her patients to trust her, and she needed the access to the latest developments in healing magic. The Healers at St. Mungo’s weren’t terribly interested in the workings of the human mind, not unless it had been affected by a spell or jinx or potion.  They didn’t treat what magic couldn’t reach.

But Hannah thought differently.  She went to university at night and got her degree in psychology.  When Demeter started Hogwarts, she started the program to get her clinical doctorate.  Three years later she emerged, degree in hand and ready to change the world.

No one came that first month.

Her little office in Hogsmeade was terrifyingly quiet. She had known it would be difficult to find patients- there were no therapists in the wizarding world, not really. Magical society was so small, people rarely spoke of their problems to anyone other than close friends or family- there was too much risk in the secrets getting out.  Still, she had hoped someonewould come by.

And then, 35 days after she placed the Dr. Hannah Longbottom, Counseling Psychologist sign on her door, Dennis Creevey walked in.

He’d tried speaking to a grief counselor his mum had recommended, he told her.  He’d gone to other counselors too, ones that specialized in post-traumatic stress.  But how do you explain the Battle to someone who doesn’t know that magic is real?  How do you tell a Muggle that you had to fight for your life before the age of fifteen, that your brother died a soldier’s death before he was old enough to enlist in the Army?

Hannah understood.  And she listened.  And Dennis became her first patient.

And thirty years later, when she cut the ribbon on the new sixth floor of St. Mungo’s (formal name: the Hannah Longbottom Center for Psychological Practice), he was there to cheer her on.

It really bothers me when I see posts like “not all gryffindors are brave, not all slytherins are evil, not all hufflepuffs are weak, not all ravenclaws are wise” with pictures of Peter Pettigrew, Severus Snape, Cedric Diggory, and Gilderoy Lockhart. These type of posts are incorrect.

They’re not all the defining traits typically associated with the houses. Slytherins would be ambitious, not evil; Hufflepuffs would be loyal, not weak. I really hate seeing posts like that because it’s saying the there are just a few exceptions to Hufflepuffs being weak. Hufflepuffs aren’t weak as a house. It isn’t a weaker house just because they didn’t originally have defining traits (Hufflepuff said she would take the rest and teach them just the same). It’s kinda really insulting to Hufflepuffs.

Also, most of the time they show Cedric Diggory for not being weak. This is ignoring other strong Hufflepuffs in the series, such as Tonks, Ernie, Hannah, and others that stayed behind to fight. I don’t think they’re just showing dead characters because Lockhart isn’t dead.

On a side note, it is also unfair that they’re saying almost all Slytherins are evil. On a general scale, it’s kinda true, but it’s not a defining trait of the house and is a bit rude. Slytherins have meaner tendencies than the other houses, but they shouldn’t say all of them are evil.

It just really pisses me off that the posts are saying that most Hufflepuffs are weak. It’s quite rude and not applicable in many, many situations.

[Pansy & Hannah have just found Hadley (OC) in a dumpster and have taken her in]

5-year-old Hadley (OC): I can’t believe witches are real! I thought they were just something adults made up to scare kids. Like vitamins.

Hannah: Hadley, vitamins arereal.

Hadley (OC): Well now I’m thinking they might be!
