IRON

Energy: Projective
Planet: Mars
Element: Fire
Deity: Selene
Associated Stones: Quartz Crystal, Holey Stones
Associated Metals: Lodestone, Meteorite
Powers: Protection, Defensive Magic, Strength, Healing, Grounding, Return of Stolen Goods

Magical/Ritual Lore:

Because iron is seldom found in pure form except in meteorites, the earliest iron available for use by humans was obtained from these strange celestial objects. Meteorites, which were observed falling from the heavens, were used to make simple tools, supplementing bone and stone implements by earlier humans.

Throughout most of the world, humans eventually learned how to remove iron from its ore, which made it available for wider use.

Once this occurred, it was soon limited to purely physical applications and was restricted in magic and religion. In ancient Greece, for example, no iron was brought into the temples. Roman priests could not be shaved or scraped with iron during bodily cleansing.

Ireland, Scotland, Finland, China, Korea, India, and other countries have severe taboos against iron. Again and again in ancient rituals fire was made without iron, altars built without its use, and magical rituals performed only after divesting the body of all traces of the metal.

Herbs were usually collected with non-iron knives, owing to the belief that the vibrations of this metal would “jam” or “confuse” the herb’s energies.

The Hindus once believed that the use of iron in buildings would spread epidemics, and, even to this day, a gift of iron in any form is thought by some to be unlucky.

However, iron did have its place in magic. Specifically, it was worn or used in protective rituals. Its powerful, projective vibrations were thought to be feared by demons, ghosts, fairies, genii and other fantastic creatures.

In China, dragons were thought to fear iron. When rain was needed, pieces of the metal were thrown into “dragon pools” to upset the creatures and send them into the sky in the form of rain clouds.

In old Scotland, iron was used to avert danger when a death had occurred in the house. Iron nails or knitting needles were thrust into every item of food-cheese, grain, meat and so on-to act as a lightning rod, attracting the confusing vibrations that death may arouse

within the living and thus sparing the food of possible contamination.

Classical Romans drove nails into their house walls to preserve their health, especially during times of plague.

Because of its protective effects iron was sometimes thought, conversely, to be sacred, and thieves in ancient Ireland wouldn’t dare to steal it.

Magical Uses:

Iron-pure projective power, active, seeking, blinding, confusing, guarding.

For heavy protection, place small pieces of iron in each room of the house or bury at the four comers of your property. In earlier times, iron fences were sometimes used to halt the flow of negativity into the home.

During protective or defensive magic, wear an iron ring engraved with the symbol of Mars. Or, obtain a three-inch thick white candle and eight old iron nails. Warm the nails by a fire (or in a red candle's flame), then thrust each into the white candle in a random pattern. Light the nail-studded candle and visualize yourself as guarded, protected, secure.

Wearing iron or carrying a small piece of this metal enhances physical strength and is an excellent talisman for athletes.

Iron is also used during healing rituals. A small piece is placed beneath the pillow at night. This was originally done to scare away the "demons" that had caused the disease but can be thought of as strengthening the body’s ability to heal itself.

Iron rings or bracelets are worn to draw out illnesses from the body. This dates back to at least ancient Roman times.

A curious ritual from Germany to cure toothache: Pour oil onto a piece of heated iron. The fumes which rise from the iron will act on the problem.

In old Scotland, healing stones-quartz crystals or holey stones were kept in iron boxes to guard against supernatural creatures who might steal them.

Iron is also worn for grounding, for closing down the psychic centers, and for impeding the flow of energy from the body. This, of course, isn’t the best during magical ritual but is fine when the subject is under psychic or emotional attack, is physically depleted or wishes to focus on physical matters.

Iron horseshoes and the nails that attach them to the hooves are ancient magical tools. They might have first been used in ancient Greece, where they were called seluna and were associated with the Moon and the goddess Selene.

A horseshoe hung in the home over the front door confers protection.

While theories differ as to the “proper” way to hang the horseshoe, I always place it points up. Ideally, it is to be nailed with three of its original nails.

An old iron horseshoe nail is sometimes bent into a ring (if you can find one long enough) and worn for luck and healing.

If you have had something stolen from you and have a fireplace handy, try this spell. Take a horseshoe nail that you’ve found by chance. Drive this into the fireplace, visualizing the stolen object returning to your home. It is done.

There are still magicians and Wiccans who remove all traces of iron from their bodies before working magic, but this custom is fading into oblivion.

LEAD

Energy: Receptive
Planet: Saturn
Element: Earth
Associated Herbs: Rose, Nettle, Rue, Cumin
Powers: Divination, Protection, Defensive Magic

Magical/Ritual Lore:

Lead has long been used in magic. In ancient Greek times tablets of this metal were ritually charged and inscribed with ‘words of power’. These tablets were generally used in negative spells because the lead ensured the spell’s long continuance.

In India during the 11th century, charms and figures designed to cause conception or to increase the fertility of gardens and orchards were engraved on lead tablets.

Magical Uses:

Lead is a heavy metal which causes death when it’s absorbed by the body. The ancient Romans discovered this by using lead dishes and cooking utensils.

A curious divination, recorded in the 1800’s in Italy by Charles Godfrey Leland, uses lead. Take three rose seeds (remove them from the “hip” that forms after a rose has lost its petals), three nettle leaves, two rue leaves and three cumin seeds. Put these on a metal plate along with a small quantity of lead.

At midnight, while clearing your mind of needless mental clutter, burn two yellow candles and light a fire. Place the metal plate over the fire. Then fill a large basin with water. Once the lead has melted, pour it, along with the herb ashes, into the water.

When the lead nodule has cooled, remove it from the water and gaze at its shape. The ritual and the lead itself should allow access to your psychic mind. If nothing comes to you, place the nodule beneath your pillow and let your dreams guide you.

Lead is worn or used in protective spells and also plays its part in defensive magic. It can be placed near the entrance of the house to prevent negativity from gaining access.

This spell is to be done in a solitary setting but during synchronized times with magical practitioners and witches around the world. The intention of this spell is to offer protection, healing, and security in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is meant to be a simple candle spell ritual so that people of all traditions can feel comfortable performing this in a safe and private setting.

I would recommend reading and reviewing the following sources.

Important Note

This spell is not meant to be a replacement for healthy lifestyle choices, impeccable hygienic practices, or professional medical attention. Follow trustworthy guidelines put forward by the CDC and the WHO. Currently, many people are practicing social distancing, which means they are staying home as much as possible and avoiding close interaction with large groups of people. Please be mindful to take care of yourself and your household. We are in difficult times and we need to look out for each other – this spell can help spiritually – but if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 please seek professional medical attention. Magic cannot make up for those not following the basic expectations of safety for yourself and others.

Synchronizing Timing Is Tricky

Finding a time that is inclusive the world-round can be a tricky thing to do. That in mind, I am going to suggest two times to do this to try this spell. If you can commit for one of these times, great. If you can commit to doing the ritual twice, for both of these times, fantastic. Or, if there is a different time best suited for you, then that’s fine too. The first time I suggest doing this is at the exact time of the upcoming Equinox where you are – simply begin your ritual at the time of the Equinox, which you can calculate at this site. This will be in the late evening on March 19th for folks in the US, the afternoon on March 20th for folks in Australia, and the wee hours of the morning on March 20th for folks in the UK. If this is too tricky a time to do a ritual, I would also recommend starting this on Sunday, 12pm UTC, when for many the sun is strong or rising.

Preparing for Ritual

Have a space that you can perform this in that is comfortable, clean, clear of clutter, and private. Prepare for your ritual as you would for any other – whether that’s with a purification bath or anointing oil, setting up an altar, burning incense, meditating, lighting candles, and/or creating a crystal grid: do what is appropriate for you to create a safe space to perform magic in.

What You Will Need

You must have three candles and a piece – I recommend using spell candles if you have them. If you don’t have these exact items use modifications in their place: votive candles, homemade candles, birthday candles, etc.! The goal is to use what you have available.

  • 1 White Candle
  • 1 Blue Candle

  • 1 Green Candle

  • An anointing, blessing oil, or a blend you use for candle magic. For this spell I am using a blend of eucalyptus, rosemary, cedarwood, lavender, and frankincense – recipe to follow.

  • Candle holders for each candle

  • Something small to carve into the candles with (like a toothpick or safety pin – be careful!)

  • A piece of paper (letter size or larger) with a picture or drawing of Earth on it

  • A pen (I’d recommend using a gold ink, if you don’t have this use your favorite pen).

Opening the Ritual

Begin your ritual with the practices your tradition calls for, whether that is ringing a bell, taking deep breaths (very important right now), singing a song for protection and empowerment, calling your Ancestors, building a crystal grid to work within (I recommend jade, aventurine, larimar, green or blue calcite) , calling specific Gods and Goddesses you work with, calling the Watchtowers, and/or casting a circle.

Part 1: Crafting Protection

In this part you are going to work with your white candle. Carve the word “PROTECT” into the candle or symbols that represent healing to you. Anoint the candle with your oil. You may also dress it with protective herbs. Hold the candle in your hands and breathe deeply and slowly, envisioning the candle glowing white. As you breathe in and out envision the light growing to encapsulate you, then your house, then your town, your country, and the planet. Hold in your mind’s eye the visual of a white light protective shield. Feel it creating a boundary between yourself and the virus. Open your eyes, light the candle, and say the following:

“I light this candle to protect those from harm. I see white light blocking Covid-19 from those I know, from those I love, from those I do not know, from those around the world. White light surrounds those who are vulnerable to illness, white light surrounds those who are concerned about becoming ill, and white light surrounds all of in need of protection from this virus! I am protected, together we are protected, so mote it be!”

Part 2: Crafting Healing

In this part you are going to work with your blue candle. Carve the word “HEAL” into the candle, or symbols that represent healing to you. Anoint the candle with your oil. You may also dress it with healing herbs. Hold the candle in your hands and breathe deeply and slowly, envisioning the candle glowing blue. As you breathe in and out envision the light growing to encapsulate you, then your house, then your town, your country, and the planet. Hold in your mind’s eye the visual of a blue light healing energy. Feel it creating a soothing and healing energy through your body. Open your eyes, light the candle, and say the following:

“I light this candle to heal those who are ill. I see blue light filling surround those who are sick, those who are battling Covid-19. Blue light surrounds those who are in need of healing energy. Blue light surrounds those who need to boost their immunity. Blue light surrounds all of those who desire peace of mind and a healthy body. And, blue light surrounds our planet Earth, which needs healing during these times as well. Blue light offers us soothing comfort and healing to prevail. I am healed, together we are healed, so mote it be!”

Part 3: Crafting Security

In this part you are going to work with your green candle. Carve the word “SECURITY” into the candle, or symbols that represent security (financial, or otherwise) to you. Anoint the candle with oil. You may also dress it with herbs of prosperity and/or the element of earth. Hold the candle in your hands and breathe deeply and slowly, envisioning the candle glowing green. As you breathe in and out envision the light growing to encapsulate you, then your house, then your town, your country, and the planet. Hold in your mind’s eye the visual of a green security blanket. Feel it grounding you, rooting you into planet earth where you dwell in balance and harmony. Open your eyes, light the candle, and say the following:

“I light this candle to offer security to communities who are in need during these troubled times. I see green light growing around those whose jobs were impacted and need financial support, around those who must continue to work in public, to those who are anxious about insurance coverage. Green light surrounds those who in the medical and service industries. Green light surrounds those who need financial prosperity. Green light surrounds all of those who need to feel comfort and security. I am secure, together we are secure, so mote it be!”

Part 4: Completing with a blessing

Take your piece of paper with Earth drawn on it. Using your pen, write well wishes, intentions for healing, personal needs, or expressions of gratitude to others. You can use the Immunity Sigil or enchant with others symbols that are important to you to protect against Covid-19, heal those suffering from Covid-19, and support those who are in need due to Covid-19. Or, you can write the words “Protected! Healed! Secured!” repeatedly.

When you are done working with this paper, fold it trifold style (like a letter) twice. If you’d like to seal the paper it closed, pour a very small amount of wax on to the second-to-last fold. Fold the final flap over it. Tuck it somewhere important – whether it be on your altar, under healing crystals, or near your candles. If you are performing this outdoors by a bonfire or by your hearth you can cast it into the hearth.

Announce the following: “Even though there is distance between us I send you all blessings of protection, health, and security. Please accept this as a petition for global peace and healing. So mote it be!”

Closing

During your closing, take a moment to think about those you are grateful for. Look at your candles and thank those you are grateful for. Close your ritual as your tradition calls, whether this be with clapping, laughing, singing, meditation, deep breaths, opening the circle, bidding the Watchtowers/Gods/Goddesses/Ancestors farewell and thank you, or so on. Allow the candles to burn down on their own, ensuring they are in a safe space!

Written by Kiki Dombrowski, March 17, 2020

Because magick works best when there are actual real memories and strong emotions tied to the items.

to attract love in life/increase your or someone else’s happiness:

- your (their) most favourite candy
- a colorful ribbon from a gift wrapping
- some kid’s love confession letter you found in a library book

to speed up things:

- burnt matches
- a watch stem
- bus/train tickets
- a few torn off sheets from a daily/weekly calendar

to slow down things:

- a snail shell
- a queue ticket
- a pull-tab from canned food
- a few drops of formalin
- dried fruits

to protect/threaten:

- tin soldiers
- old bullets
- cat nails (naturally shed, obviously. inspect your cat’s scratch post)
- dead wasps
- insect cocoons
- glass bottle caps (you know, these sharp metal ones)

to banish:

- a few drops of sanitizer
- absorbent coal
- a rejection letter
- a one-way ticket (away from your location)

to curse:

- a traffic/parking ticket
- bones from cooked fish that you almost choked on
- your own tears, brought by sincere rage/misery
- flowers from a thrown-away bouquet
- the most obnoxious ad/spam mail you’ve ever received
- a test paper, marked F and mercilessly corrected by a sadistic teacher

Use your senses, your emotions, your own memories and your imagination: what does this item make you feel, what did it possibly make its owner feel? You can add to the list whatever feels right to you. Remember that emotions and memories connected to the item are always a powerful magick fuel, especially in spellwork. Note: some of these things are obviously region-specific. For example, living in a place that once was the war epicentre, it’s a common thing for me to stumble across old rusty bullets while taking a walk in a suburban forest. It may be different for you, but that only means you have certain things which are only unique to your place.

I practice for more than 10 years already, and, honestly, if I were to give one (1) most useful piece of advice about the way I do my spellwork, I’d say that for getting the desired outcome, preparation and planning for the spellcasting is just as important as the actual ritual, because the preparation is already a part of the spellcasting. You’re already working on the manifestation of your desired outcome when you’re simply drafting and preparing, because you begin to think about it and focus on it.

Don’t neglect the drafring and preparation if you really want the spell to be powerful enough to shift the reality.

Spend some time just making a draft of the spell in your journal. Divide the page on individual aspects of your desired result. For each, write all your ideas, possible correspondences, any things that you think might help with this certain aspect of your desired result (”make things faster = fire?? burnt matches? clock hands???” or “new job means new beginings, so should definitely cast it on the new moon. check the day of the week correspondence later. dont forget to use tarot imagery, the fool definitely will come handy”, etc).

Be as messy as you want, it doesn’t matter, because, again, by focusing and preparing for the cast you’re already doing the half of the work.

Carefully and mindfully preparing for a spell alone usually provides, like, 50% of the desired result for me.

During the Basic Spellwriting class that Salt hosted tonight on the server, the WAMILY members gathered and constructed a spell together.  This was an amazing team effort and the collaboration produced a simple, yet effective spell.  This is what they came up with!

PURPOSE OF THE SPELL:

To dream deeply and vividly, and to recall it when you wake.

SPECIAL TIMING:

During the New Moon; and/or on a Saturday (a day of relaxation.)  Bonus points if you can score a New Moon on a Saturday!

Each New Moon is a brand new beginning.  It offers the opportunity to make a change, to re-orient yourself, or to conjure a new aspect of yourself and your life into being.  The energy of the new moon is great for initiating a new project or the start of an adventure.  And with it being hidden in darkness, there are parallels drawn between the darker sides of the moon as well as our minds.

ITEMS NEEDED:

  • Soft Pajamas: for comfort.
  • Fluffy Pillow: to rest our head, where dreams happen.
  • Cup of tea: to warm and relax our bodies.
  • Amethyst: to remove stress, to boost intelligence and promote personality growth, to protect from harmful outside influences, to strengthen memory.

SPELLWORK:

1.  On the night of a New Moon (or a Saturday, or both), climb into bed wearing soft pajamas and tea in hand.  Sip your tea and focus your energy on a night of restful sleep.  Think back on the past vivid dreams you have had and the details of them.  You can also set an amethyst by your bedside, under a pillow, or near a window.

2.  When your tea is finished and you are sleepy, read the following incantation, focusing on the mysterious, majestic power of the New Moon.  Visualize its shadows as a cloak that will conceal you.  The New Moon will inspire the start of your adventure in the dreamscape.

3.  Recite the following spell:

I ask the New Moon to allow peaceful and calm rest.
To the depths of my subconscious, give me access.
Let the absence of the Moon be my shield and guide,
and when I wake, let the dreams ever-flow to my mind.

4.  Turn off the lights, rest your head on your pillow, and allow for your dreams to blossom!  In the morning, you should wake and be able to recall the details of the dream.  (We suggest writing them down!)

Thanks to everyone who participated in creating this spell!  You all are amazing and we cannot wait to see what else our WAMILY creates together!

ladylaburnum:

The winds of change I feel tonight

The waters are calm and the sky is bright,

Luck be mine, come into me,

My desires are true, so mote it be.

 - Chant until the energy has built up, then clap your hands to release the energy to the universe

chaosundone:

“And the blood in these veins
isn’t pumping any less than it ever has.
And that’s the hope I have,
the only thing I know that’s keeping me alive.”

~Paramore, “Last Hope”

Intent: I don’t know about anyone else but I need this right now. This spell is intended to give you the strength you need to pick yourself up and move forward through depression. It’s not designed as a “cure” but an aid through rougher times.

I wanted this spell to be relatively simple in terms of material and leg word because when my depression hits I know I don’t want to pull out all my materials and make a big show. If you want to vamp it up and add extra elements please feel free to!

Materials:

  • matches
  • tealight candle
  • paper
  • pencil

Procedure:

1. On your piece of paper write the word “depression” in big letters. Underneath it, write “let it happen” until the page is full or you’re content with how many times you’ve written it. (Alternatively you can make a sigil if you’re feeling up to it). The point of this step is to not try to push down or hide your depression. Acknowledge it and accept it so that you can face it head on.

2. Carve the words “keep me going” onto your tealight candle. Remove the candle from it’s aluminum holder and place it on top of your piece of paper.

3. Say the following phrase before striking your match:

“It’s just a spark but it’s enough to keep me going”

4. Light your tealight candle and allow it to melt over the paper, while visualizing the “spark” that will keep you going.

Notes On:
The Elements of Spellcrafting by Jason Miller

Key 3: Make Sure Your Life is Enchantable

How Flexible Are You?

Magic is an influence upon reality, not a reality-breaking force (usually.) If you do a spell to get money, it is going to manifest through mundane means that have a logical explanation. The spell will have influenced those events, but it is not going to make it rain 20-dollar bills from the sky. If you plan on magic having a role in your life, you need to be able to maximize the potential for that magic to manifest in ways that you will appreciate. So ask yourself: is your life enchantable?

Love Shows Up on a Doorstep

Let’s use love magick as an example; despite stories you may have heard of someone conducting a love spell only to find their one true love waiting on their doorstep a few days later, most of the time our efforts will not create such extraordinary results When performing love magic, there are a lot of ways to make life more enchantable. The first step would be to turn off the PlayStation and get out to places where you might meet people of similar interests. How do you look? How do you dress? Are you skilled at starting conversation? You don’t have to become someone else; just make this area of your life more enchantable by brushing up on social skills and grooming.

In fact, let’s make that our second rule of thumb: Keep your magical and mundane efforts pointed in the same direction.

Financial Flexibility

Money spells for small amounts usually find a way to come through in things like paid focus groups, short term side jobs, unexpected gifts, bank orders, found wallets, etc. Spells for larger sums or significant financial changes can lead to things like uncomfortably sudden job changes or a family member dying and leaving an inheritance. If you are a business owner, you can expect this in the form of more customers, higher-paying customers or inspiration for a new product. Just keep in mind while planning your spellwork: magic will take the path of least resistance.

Health Enchantability

It is important to know that you should never substitute medical attention and/or care with magic. If you are concerned for your health in anyway, see or speak with a doctor. Remember, magic is an influence. So we have to ask ourselves “how enchantable is my body?” Well, how enchantable are your habits? Your environment? The things that affect your health? These are questions that must be implemented in healing magic.

Dangers of Forcing Magic into an Unenchantable Situation

Nutty stuff happens when you force magic into impossible situations.

There are dangers in magic; offended spirits, malefic curses, demonic obsession, so on. However, most concerning, is magic applied in unskilled and counter productive ways. Try not to force a truly unenchantable situation with magic. When planning, you should think of how your spell could possibly manifest. You don’t have to steer it in that direction necessarily, as that would take away from avenues for manifestation that you aren’t aware of. You do, however, have to think about how enchantable your life is towards any goal. If your life is not particularly open to the kind of magic you are doing, you need to realize that it may not manifest or perhaps just give underwhelming results. If you force the issue with stronger magical insistence, then be ready for things to blow up.

The Take Away

The problem this key looks to solve is forcing magic to manifest in lives that are not easily adapted to enchantment. The solution is not always easy. It may require opening a business, doing serious personal identity work or even move to a new city where there are more opportunities.

This is a simple glamour that can enhance your attractiveness in many ways, to many people! The purpose of this spell is to give you a boost of confidence in your physical appearance, your communication skills, your creative abilities and other qualities you possess that people find attractive. Think your nose is pretty cute? Think you’re funny? Smart? Do you have a creative talent? Like your thighs and your tummy? People will be drawn to these qualities and take more notice of them, as will you when assessing yourself! This is a self love glamour as much as it can affect others.

Ingredients
- 1 ripe strawberry
- 1 small bowl or saucer
- 1 fork

Time of Day
Perform during a waxing moon, preferably on a Thursday or Friday if the calendar allows. Super effective every Thursday or Friday when the moon is in Libra.

Make sure you cleanse your tools and cast your circle to protect yourself. Do a cleansing bath and cleanse yourself of negative energies beforehand if you’ve been feeling especially down on yourself.

Hold the strawberry as you visualize people looking twice at you, complimenting your appearance, approaching you to chat. They laugh at your jokes and are enchanted by your thoughts and opinions. They think you are alluring and intriguing and they want to know more. People are utterly charmed by you and if they don’t want your romantic love, they aspire to be in your close circle and be touched by your aura. Think of specific people if that is part of your goal with this glamour.

Put the stawberry in your bowl or on your saucer and plate and gently mash it with your fork. Anoint your lips with the stawberry juice, kiss the juice off your fingers. This should be a sensual act. Eat the mashed bits of stawberry, enjoying the sweetness of the juice rolling down your tounge as you suck on the pulp, seeds gently bursting between your teeth.

As you do this, say aloud:

“The words I speak,
The smiles I smile,
Be made sweet,
As bee to flower,
As honey to fly,
I draw you nigh.”

Eucalyptus is an Australian evergreen that has multiple medicinal uses outside of its magical properties. It’s thick, gummy leaves cannot be eaten in their raw form but when dried and ground up, can be boiled into a tea or distilled into oil. Through this, it can be used as a natural anti inflammatory agent for clearing sinuses, reducing cold and pain symptoms. Breathing in its strong, herbaceous smell will decrease the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which makes it excellent at reducing anxiety.

In magic, it’s mundane attributes only contribute to its magical uses. Representing the elements of water and air and corresponding with the moon, eucalyptus can be a powerful aid in spells for clarity, focus, protection, purification and healing. It’s ruling deities are Mercury and Venus, so it offers these things from a place of compassion - it refreshes energy, soothes regret and worries, calms exhaustion, relieves concern. It great for cleansing tools, warding off nightmares and creating shields that protect without attacking. It is peaceful and subtle, a plant with a planetary ruling that makes for extremely potent spell work.

First off, this is not a cursing or hexing spell like thing. Black, as a color, means more than just evil or darkness or negative intent. According to this chart, the color black means “safety, protection, banish negativity, pride and shape shifting”. In this case, I’m focusing on the first 3 meanings and this is really simple for anyone to do if you’re feeling overwhelmed with negative energy, want to protect yourself from someone possibly sending negativity your way or just want to give an extra layer of protection when working your craft.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 black candle (I bought this votive when I couldn’t find black candles in the regular store off the Halloween season)
  • Sandalwood oil or any anointing oil (one that can represent protection would be best)
  • a few strands of hair and/ or nail clippings of the intended (yourself or the one you feel will benefit from this)
  • a place to leave all this undisturbed (altar, shelf or anywhere candle safe)
  • a spell or series of spells you wrote yourself or you found that feel in tuned with you.

What I did:

  1. Take the candle and use your finger to anoint the candle, top to bottom and under and over, with the oil. You can do this ahead of time as the oil can make the outside a little soft so use just a small enough to cover and let sit so the oil’s essence is taken in.
  2. I use a tea cup to hold my candles in, but any holder is fine. Take that and place a few strand of hair or the clippings on the bottom. I use both and the hair you can take from your brush. You could use trimmings, but I feel whole strands (including the root) are more potent. the clippings I used are from that day and freshest, but a couple days old isn’t too bad either as long as you know they’re from the same source (especially if you’re doing this for someone else)
  3. Place the anointed candle on top of these items. They don’t all have to be under the candle but as long as the majority are, you’re fine.
  4. Light the candle and speak aloud your spells as many times as you feel like. I did the following 3 time: negative energy banishment, protection spell, karma spell
  5. It might take a bit, but you should feel lighter, emotionally, and feel your energy lift and brighten. Let the candle burn until it melts and covers what you placed in the cup.

If there’s still some wick left, you can just use this and repeat the spells you spoke without having to place new strands or clippings as this now ties you or the intended with this candle until it can no longer be lit. Repeat the entire thing as needed.

For added effect, do this on the new, full and half moons. Each phase will emphasis your new beginnings and growth as you do your best to disconnect and remove any and all negative effects upon yourself and your home.
