The Discovery in Nackhälle
This fantastic shield was found in Nackhälle, Spannarps parish in Varberg, Sweden in 1865. The shield is adorned with beautiful sirats, one of which is perceived to be fifteen swans. It’s dated to the younger Bronze Age through these types of ornaments and is truly an unusual find if you ask me.
The shield belonges to a group of splendor shields manufactured in eastern Germany, the so-called Herzprung shields. These was at first unknown until year 1985, when shields belonging to this group were found in Denmark and Ireland. But the same year, a finding of at least fourteen shields was made in Sweden, the Fröslunda shields. These had several similarites to the Herzsprung shields but also the one found in Nackhälle. This discovery inspired to a after study in 1990 of the Nackhälle shield, over a hundred years later the discovery was made.

The object in the picture is a pendant with a sun cross symbol, found in a grave from Björkö, Sweden.

These beautiful golden sword details really caught my eye first time I saw them.
All three are findings from Sweden and are dated do the migrationperiod (400-550 AD). Sword pommel found in Skurup, Skåne. The sword mouth in the middle was found in Backa, Bohuslän and the other one in Mellby, Västergötland.
Can’t get enough of all these beautiful golden ornamented objects from this period.

Fun bit of trivia, it is believed that Terror Birds hunted by grabbing their prey in their claws, and repeatedly smashing it into the ground. This one is far too small and far too dead to hunt, but it’ll still look good on a shelf.

Ever wonder what a terrestrial nautilus would look like? Since making the series of land sharks, I was thinking a series of land cephalopods would be interesting.
Definitely gives me Cthulhu vibes :)

This lower jaw dates back to the Jurassic era and belongs to: @mike_the_pliosaur.
This is only a fragment of the jaw, more has been preserved extending the whole length. Mike would have been an incredible predator, with so many teeth to catch and devour his prey.

Atacama Giant, Cerro Unitas, Atacama Desert, Chile,
It is the largest prehistoric anthropomorphic figure in the world with a length of 119 meters and represented a deity for the local inhabitants from AD 1000 to 1400.
The geoglyphs of the Atacama Desert were built using three essential methods, ‘extractive’, ‘additive’ and ‘mixed’.
The figure was an early astronomical calendar for knowing where the moon would set; by knowing this the day, crop cycle, and season could be determined. The points on the top and side of the head would say what season it would be depending on their alignment with the moon, which was important in determining when the rainy season would come in the barren Atacama.

I remember watching this and thinking, damn too bad he’s not a raptor m, he would look so much more fly.
Original viking ship from the Viking age, Roskilde, Denmark.
“Around the year 1070, five Viking ships were deliberately sunk at Skuldelev in Roskilde Fjord in order to block the most important fairway and to protect Roskilde from an enemy attack from the sea. These ships, later known as the Skuldelev ships, were excavated in 1962. They turned out to be five different types of ships ranging from cargo ships to ships of war.”

The Chauvet Cave was discovered in France in 1994.
Most of the paintings were produced approximately 36–32,000 years BP. Even at this extremely early period, these paintings contain images of animals with the impression of movement shown by the duplication of the bison’s horn and hoove.
