Quick fanfic update
Hey all,
Hope you are all keeping safe during this awful time. For the past month or so I’ve been really getting into the music of Tears for Fears. Obvs I knew their music beforehand but a lot of the time when I’m getting into a band and their music, more often than not it inspires me to write a story.
It’s weird, I had this idea of a young woman befriending a famous musician’s son at uni but not realise he’s the son of her favourite band. Then she meets her idol and bla bla they fall in love.
In the past couple of days, I started to really listen to Tears for Fears’s later stuff, ie the Roland music like Elemental and Raoul and the Kings of Spain. Finally I got round to listening to Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. Can’t believe how much it got critically panned, must have been tone deaf or something. Good job music is subjective.
It is definitely one of their best albums. I know I watched an interview with Curt and Roland a few weeks back where they were talking about the album like when it was released and Roland said it was their best album to date.
One song really caught my attention and that was Call Me Mellow which is strangely enough about a middle aged man falling in love with a woman half his age. It got my cogs working overtime where I thought, I could base my female character on the woman in the song, not completely but base some of the characteristics on the song. Like make the girl have an effect on this man and reignite his passion for life and adventure.
I found Roland’s book Sex, Drugs and Opera very insightful as Solomon Capri’s character is based a lot on Roland. It was a good source to get into the mind of a middle aged man who’s lived his life and had a family and sort of lost his purpose.
Anyway my point is, I am in the process of drafting this said fanfiction which I hope to publish the first chapter in the next few days or so. I am currently blessed with a laptop that has a shift key which doesn’t work and makes writing dialogue an absolute pain.
Basically keep an eye out for it and let me know what you think. If I get Roland or Curt’s character wrong, please bear with me as I’m going by how they are in interviews or stuff I have read. It’s limited sources at the moment but I feel I have a general idea of their characters. I will try to be as accurate as possible.

Just another chapter where Melinda mentions one of her favourite OTPs, yes Remus and Tonks.
In other news, I got through rereading Prisoner of Azkaban in like 2-3 days well I’ve got a bit left but I forgot how bloody awesome Remus is in the chapter Snape’s Grudge hahaha.
I also forgot how much Lupin told Harry, Ron and Hermione about why James, Sirius and Peter (traitorrrrrr) became Animagi (that is the plural term right?) cause ya know that wasn’t in the bloody film…
But yeah enjoy the story if you’re into Tears for Fears and shit. But I am slowly getting through reading HP. I am excited to write a Harry Potter fanfiction, especially about Remus and Tonks as I’ve never written one before so could be interesting haha.
