At @manasayoga , @kaimal.manoj teaches us about the mountain-top #yogi, who stands with auspicious courage looking at the world before him. We also learn about the cave yogi, who withdraws into self #reflection & #meditation.
When we enter the cave yogi mode though, sometimes we require the qualities of the mountain yogi; the auspicious courage to delve into the deeper recesses of our cave. We never know what we may find there.
#fitfriday - an important aspect of #fitness is #recovery, just as a pillar of overall #wellness is good #sleep. Wishing everyone a good #rest & recovery during the #holiday season, we’ll see you next year!
Bite-sized #yogatips - #malasana or #garlandpose can be #challenging especially for those with tight #calves, #glutes or #quads.
This #yogapose requires really deep flexion of the hips & knees. Tip: place a block or roll up your mat or blanket to place under your heels if your heels lift off the ground. Be very #mindful of twinges in knees or ankles when in this pose.
And finally a little nugget of #yoga #wisdom we learnt at the Manasa Yoga Workshop on #Asana Mythology with @kaimal.manoj - discern through the garlands that people and life put on us, and drop those that don’t serve us or weigh us down.

Cuando practico éste #splitvariation siempre viene a mi cabeza la pregunta del millón de dolores… Estaré bien alineada? No estoy en alineamiento en hatta, en ashtanga tampoco es ese, cual yoga estaré practicando últimamente? Y luego recuerdo que las estructuras las ha creado el hombre a conveniencia y se me pasa y se disuelve la pregunta en el aire. Estoy escuchando mi cuerpo y no lo estoy forzando. Una foto es una muestra de una práctica, talves haya progreso o no, pero eso no es lo que importa. Lo importante para mí es saber que mi práctica personal es intuitiva, y que si aprendo a escuchar lo que mi cuerpo dice no me preocupo si rompo alguna estructura social. El cuerpo no es una máquina que flexiona y estira solamente, es un vehículo que se expande, y en la educación formal nos imponen reglas para su cuidado, descuidando, valga la redondancia, el Ser completo que es. La respiración cambia completamente cuando nos enteramos que es básica para lograr algún movimiento, sin esa respiración un esfuerzo no sería efectivo y el cuerpo no se expande de la misma forma. No recuerdo una clase en el colegio donde me explicaran como respirar correctamente para saltar o volear el balón, menos aún para hablar o comer… Todo eso lo aprendí internamente, con la práctica consciente, con mi yoga y mi intuición… Y ahora como profe, lo explico como un tesoro, la respiración es lo que nos mueve y nos abre a experimentar las posibilidades… Gracias por leer, coincides conmigo?
