Today is so nice, I’ve been sitting outside drinking tea and eating strawberries for the last 3 hours! I #love hot weather!
Have you heard about We Amplify?Adrian Hummell and I offer workshops and trainings, and are happy to work with you individually to amplify your postures, practice, and life!!
#recliningheropose yoga teacher style! This is a fearsomely challenging pose for guys, it’s taken years of work and careful practice for me to get to this expression of the shape.
Here’s my new #yoga class schedule for the quarter. The first quarter begins after #chinesenewyear, right?
I’m excited to start another #yogaflow class at @aravindyoga every Wednesday, beginning 13 Feb 2019 (i.e. today)! Hope to catch you in my classes! If you’re interested in private sessions, contact me privately!
At @manasayoga , @kaimal.manoj teaches us about the mountain-top #yogi, who stands with auspicious courage looking at the world before him. We also learn about the cave yogi, who withdraws into self #reflection & #meditation.
When we enter the cave yogi mode though, sometimes we require the qualities of the mountain yogi; the auspicious courage to delve into the deeper recesses of our cave. We never know what we may find there.
#fitfriday - an important aspect of #fitness is #recovery, just as a pillar of overall #wellness is good #sleep. Wishing everyone a good #rest & recovery during the #holiday season, we’ll see you next year!
Bite-sized #yogatips - #malasana or #garlandpose can be #challenging especially for those with tight #calves, #glutes or #quads.
This #yogapose requires really deep flexion of the hips & knees. Tip: place a block or roll up your mat or blanket to place under your heels if your heels lift off the ground. Be very #mindful of twinges in knees or ankles when in this pose.
And finally a little nugget of #yoga #wisdom we learnt at the Manasa Yoga Workshop on #Asana Mythology with @kaimal.manoj - discern through the garlands that people and life put on us, and drop those that don’t serve us or weigh us down.
Biggy S: “If you haven’t tried Broga yet, you should! The instructors are great. I have been practising yoga for about a year and love to but was missing the feeling of a strenuous workout - Broga is the best of both! Unpretentious and awesome.”
#bakasana - bite-sized #yogatips. So what I am doing here is #kakasana, the diff btw the 2 poses is that the arms are straight in #bakasana (#cranepose).
#armbalances are hard for me coz of my slightly skewed left shoulder (arising from a pin in my left shoulderblade).
When it comes to arm balances, while the grounding (the arms) need to be secure, the strength comes from the core, so get your core in a nice concave position, with your navel area really drawn in.
The lift comes from the legs & feet, so don’t do what I am doing here (you can see me kinda collapsing). Plantar flex your feet (really get those toes pointed), activate your #hamstrings to draw the calves in, then lift your pointed toes as high as you can towards your butt.
And of course, enter the pose with equanimity, confidence & faith. Lift one toe up at a time to start with. It will come, if it isn’t already!
