Okay I know everyone likes to critique the part in the Blood of Olympus where Percy says “Greeks, lets fight stuff” as opposed to the organized Romans since the Greeks were actually super organized in the Battle of Manhattan. We like to call it crappy writing.
BUT

Did you ever think about how many of the experienced campers died in the Battle of Manhattan? Camp Half Blood repopulated a little after that, but they only had a YEAR to recover from their losses and train the new campers. A year. No wonder they weren’t too notch organized.

They are child soldiers. Give them a break.

Will Solace Headcannon

I’m an absolute sucker for outside POV and while I’m not complaining most of them are centred around Percy in school or out in NYC etc when there’s a fantastic opportunity for one Will Solace to show off his own talents.

Give me Will Solace in his first year of medical school inexplicably having wayyyy too much experience with surgeries, emergencies medicine and really serious wounds etc.

This Texas kid who has just shown up out of seemingly nowhere does not bat an eye when people come in with the most gruesome injuries the senior doctors have ever seen. While the rest of the juniors are being ushered out before they throw up or feint Will’s just standing there like normal Tuesday, how can I help :)

He quickly gets nicknamed ‘golden boy’ bypeers and mentors alike for 2 reasons. The first is Will is just really freaking easy to find. There’s not a whole lot of honey blond, over 6 foot, tanned, muscled and southern residents wondering around the hospital who can look that good in scrubs.

The second is he is just genuinely the best they have ever seen. Will’s stitches are immaculate, his manner with patients soothes them instantly and he’s basically unflappable under pressure; He excels in emergency situations, completely comfortable in his own natural authority and the people he’s supposed to be learning from completely forget he’s technically only in his first year.

I just want to see a little outside appreciation for Will Solace, who has effectively been running his own hospital for years.

Look. Listen. I don’t think that Camp Jupiter in New Rome is actually the safe place that it looks at first glance.

They have the same magical border that Camp Half-Blood does, keeping out monsters and mortals. They also have the same kind of training/games that Camp Half-Blood does, where people wind up dying.

The only difference is that they have a lot of legacies who made it to adulthood. Who then birthed more legacies. All those little kids running around were little legacy kids. So because of their weaker scent and less divine blood, legacies live longer. We know that. Oh, and Lupa eats anyone she deems too weak to survive in Camp Jupiter so…there’s that.

“Uh, Robin, if there are legacies, there had to be demigods.”

Yeah but it’s not like demigods need to reach adulthood to have kids. All of those legacies are probably from teen pregnancies and they’re all likely orphans.

Percy didn’t even get to meet an adult demigod while he was in New Rome. Isn’t that weird? Isn’t that suspicious?

Luke is still the only adult demigod (who attended a Camp) that we get to see. Travis and Clarisse both “went to college” once they turned 18 and we never see them again. Camp Half-Blood supposedly kicks out their adult demigods but…why?

Is that the difference?

They have the same demigod mortality rate but Camp Half-Blood only allows demigods within its borders, while Camp Jupiter happily takes legacies?

Anyway, what I was getting at is that percabeth will probably still die but not before becoming teenage parents. And we know CJ will take Greek legacies because Frank is part Greek and Percy was claimed by Neptune so he technically counts as a Roman too, giving his legacies the Roman status they need to stay at CJ.

It isn’t any safer! I’ve been screaming about this forever to my very exasperatedfriends.

If anything I find Camp Jupiter to be more insidious in nature tbh.

Not only does the Wolf House exist with all its issues even if you survive and make it to camp you can still be denied entry for whatever reason!

Also one doesn’t earn the right to retire to New Rome until fulfilling 10 years of service.

On top of the fact that the whole Child Soldier thing being super ingrained into their culture it’s canon that the gods are likely to find residents attractive and proceed to have children with said people.

There’s a reason I made a joke post about Camp Jupiter being a war crime.

Headcanon that on the last weekend of the summer season at CHB, Chiron plans a big slumber party in the big house for all the campers and they watch horror movies and play board games and never-have-i-ever and they paint their new beads and they order a million pizzas and don’t get any sleep whatsoever and it’s just a giant celebration of surviving another summer as a half-blood.

You know what would have been fun? If Percy was a son of Neptune but ended up being brought to Camp Half-blood and so his dad was like … ah, Chiron you gonna scoot him over to Camp Jupiter? No? Guess I’m claiming him as Greek then.

That would mean he wouldn’t be the child of the prophecy too. Except fate.

Like, what if some unclaimed demigods are actually just in the wrong place? Like the satyrs do too good of a job.
