Mixed Annabeth because I have zero self control.

No but really, I was looking for more hazel references, I was exploring Pinterest and saw some mixed model that kinda looked like Annabeth and then I found myself drawing her on procreate without even realizing. It was a quick thing to just have fun and experiment with a different hair texture, 3B/C and skin colors!

What do you think? Do you like this? I don’t have a preference and honestly respect the people that sees her as black, mixed or white. The good thing about books is that you can kinda imagine the characters like u want and I’m here to fuel the imagination of people that sees annabeth as mixed!

I’m currently confused about my art and I think it’s because I’m confuse in my life as a general mood lmao. HOWEVER take a look at this art that I left at a “base color stage” with not much rendering involved lmao, it’s basically unfinished compared to the usual but I still think it might work?

Walker Scobell Will Play Percy Jackson In The Upcoming TV Series On Disney Plus.

Listen, I’m just gonna say it and you have to agree because I’m right.

James Gunn should direct the Percy jackson tv show. He’s already shown himself to be able to direct a (comic) book to movie adaptation as well as working with large ensembles. And he’s already got a great relationship with Disney. That or Taika Waititi. Go big or go fucking home.

I’m sorry, but from a story telling standpoint, Jason and Leo ending up together made so much more sense. Having Jason and piper forced together in a form of comphet and the two of them basically tangoing around that idea because they forgot they were queer (or going through the stages of discovering it) would have been a great story narrative especially in the wider scope of the story. Leo and Jason had immense trust in one another and their personality’s matches so well.

Having Leo and Jason be together and not have Jason and piper would do so much to counter the stereotype Aphrodite girls and how they always get the guy (sort of). They have a dynamic balance that works so well with each other.

Also having Jason (canonically, bc we all know) bi would make so much more sense with him and Nicos whole forced confession. It would be a common ground for the two of them, but it would also help Jason come to terms with these conflicting feelings he’s been having regarding Leo.

Leo bring in calypso back would allow for a nice reluctant friends to friends to lovers for piper (i love chel don’t get me wrong. I think this would be a better parallel). They would understand each other on a level Leo and calypso would never have.

With piper also stating herself that she doesn’t feel like her siblings because she is queer, this would be able to play out a lot sooner and when she confides in Jason because they’re still close friends, he confessing to feeling something similar. With the whole lost memories, Hera just mixed up the two canon relationship (on purpose or not )

Also a queer friend group always just got one straight person and hazel is the only one allowed to hold on to that title.

The most unrealistic thing about the entire Percy jackson series isn’t the monsters or the gods. No. It is the frank that frank is lactose intolerant and he sticks to it. Have u ever met someone who’s turned away ice cream cuz their lactose intolerant? No. Because we don’t care enough and the good out ways the bad.

Someone pointed out that Nico suddenly not sleeping is out of character because in the first series we are shown him napping all the time. Y’all gotta remember, Nico wakes up at night from night terrors because of Tartarus. He has severe ptsd that effects his sleep. The reason he no longer sleeps is because of the trauma, not because his character was miscued along the way. Nico loves to nap. To sleep. But unless his powers knock him out, his ptsd comes back to bite him

Anyways, that’s been bugging me. I’ve seen a few people talk about how it doesn’t make sense but it does. He just needs a nap, but the gods said fuck you.

See, I think nicos personality is very complex.

At first he’s an annoying ten year old who is full of wonder and questions. He’s super cheery, talkative, and has many special interests. He’s the kid who tries to be friends with everyone even if they want nothing to do with him.

After biancas death, he closed himself out and pushed everyone away. He tried to swallow himself up in his own sadness but that kid has adhd and no matter how depressed and brooding he wants to be, he still is the kid who will talk your ear off. This is heavily shown when he interacts with Percy at the end of the labyrinth to talk about immortality. You can see how despite he wants to appear, that part of him that hyper fixates on topics and can’t shut up is there. He wants to talk and be friend with Percy, (albeit a bit of that comes with the crush) but he is fighting with his anger over his sister.

After this we see him at the battle of Olympus. He starts to come into his own near the end of the series, being able to rely on himself. He’s now self conscious which is to be expected of someone his age but he knows how to hold himself when he needs to. He is even willing to give being a camper another shot but his own insecurities that came with leaving camp the first time take over.

Throughout the second series, we can see how just plain awkward he is around people. Nico has amazing people skills but he doesn’t always know how to use them around people that might intimidate him (which should never be a problem with him but he second guesses himself a lot). He tries to communicate but adhd comes in all forms and (I even have a theory as to why he might even be on the spectrum but that’s for another post) and this leaves him with a small disconnect with what he says and how people perceive his humour. Nico is still the kid who cracks jokes but not many people get the dryness he has with them.

In toa, however, we see Nico starting to go back into the same pattern we knew from when we met him. He’s opening up in conversation, still making friends with everyone and everything that is willing to hear him out and not run away. It’s obvious that Will is able to understand his way of thinking which is why they become close. When Nico tries to push people away, despite not really wanting to, Will was able to separate what he was saying and what he meant. Nico might not be the best when it comes to using his words (maybe bc English is his second language) but he always means what he says.

Nico is not some UWU baby, or some depressed scene kid. Nico is a awkward 14-15 year old who still doesn’t know they cured polio, who loves to talk to people but is often misunderstood. Percy didn’t have time to really translate what Nico was saying and that’s how we are introduced to him. His thought process is much clearer in his POV and we are able to see how he just goes from one thought to the next without vocalizing it. Nico is literally a kid who deals with his trauma through dry, crude jokes and is misunderstood by those around him. Nico is the kid who drops a joke about their shitty life and you don’t know if you should laugh or not so u awkwardly chuckle.

Anyways, I have a lot of thoughts and feeling about Nicos character and until we get a solo book in his POV, since he’s technically a side character, we are only seeing him through a lens of other characters perspectives. But yeah. Nico is just the same loud, curious kid he was at the beginning, he’s just finding a way to deal with his own trauma and insecurities and is often misunderstood in his words and actions.

Percy Jackson’s fatal flaw is that he’s too loyal? Rip him but I’m built different. My fatal flaw is that my ass is too fat.
