Well imagine at these specific moments, the concerned Side turns into a Giant, until he calms down and the moment over.
Logan would probably be the one who willingly grows up, his size making it easier to quickly sort out any needed information in the Library or control panel.
Virgil will try to repress it. If he manages to stay calm, it won’t be more than a couple of inches, staying wary of what could happen next just in case. If it’s a stressful situation, he’ll definitely explode in size as a defense mechanism. If Logan has the misfortune of not being able to access the main core, it’s a “too stressed out to think properly” situation, and it’ll be over once Virgil (and incidentally Thomas) are completely worn out from the panic attack. Virgil will turn back to normal once calmed down and the steam out of his system.
Unless on very emotional moments, like “heart swelling up with joy”, Patton doesn’t grow. He is already a big guy right off the bat. One of the tallest Sides. When they say “your heart is too big for your body”, I think it literally. He’s a gentle Giant, but… Take a bit too much space sometimes. Adding the fact that he’s very clumsy.
If you have a combo of Virgil and Patton not letting Logan do his work, that’s the embodiment of “emotions getting in the way”.
Roman is a yoyo, depending on the self-esteem. He can grow as big and passionate at the slightest ego praise, only to quickly deflate to the first coming criticism.
Remus must stay human sized at any cost.
Janus’s situation is a bit more tricky. While he likes being tall and healthy from the self-care, he actually dislike growing up from lies. The swelling guilt and regrets from lying to the self is just as unbearable as the desperate need to spill everything, because it’s simply not healthy to keep everything inside.
I know I haven’t picked BBAG in a very long while, but I have ideas and headcannons popping up lately.
The kids would refuse to sleep until their literally big brother came home, fight a bit on the spot for sleeping next to him, before leaving the place to Bjorn because the youngest can only sleep with the steady heartbeat of the mini Giant to calm him down.
Despite his “bed” already cramped up for his 20 ft, Virgil has to twist up so he’s lying on his back enough to place Bjorn on his chest, also trying not to accidentally crush his other siblings.

Handmade and designed by me! Using a hoodie as the base, I hand stitched this costume together based off a design I created. I dyed the green fabric myself over the course of several weeks, and if you’ll look closely at the stitching, you’ll notice words like “spook” “spiders” and “vemus” hidden throughout. This was a passion project but I’m selling it as I am no longer in the fandom. I hope that whoever buys this will appreciate all the love and hard work that went into it
