Today I posted this oldie as a #fanartfriday on Instagram, and joked that I’d been wanting to renew it and make it into a painting.
Turns out, the way to get inspiration to draw more fanart, is to post old fanart! I found that I couldn’t go another day before actually trying for the painting, so here is the sketch planning it. (No they are not supposed to be naked, but I couldn’t bother with the clothes in first round, and I don’t complain honestly, so in love with Maglor, it’s not good! )
I also added the hair color roughly to make it easier to see who’s who, and I also tried to make their expressions and grief kind of symbolise their personalities, and I’m quite happy with how individual they all are! (And yes, only one twin, had no room for a second )
From left: Maedhros, Celegorm, Caranthir, Maglor , Curufin and Amrod/Amras(whichever twin survived the burning ships in that one version ). And obviously Feanor is hanging between them . -
I am really really loving how much it has evolved from the original. Obviously a scene like this is a lot easier to draw digitally, but still, I feel I’ve evolved a lot in two years (I better have, right) and I honestly can’t wait to develop this sketch more!!!✨

Super-Robot and Ultraman inspired redesigns of the Silver SurferandGalactus, with robot minions in tow!
A while back, Marvel Comics did this thing called the “Manga-verse” with anime-inspired versions of the characters. It was hit or Miss with some versions, but I wasn’t pleased with their Galactus, who they made a giant world- eating eyeball!. So I made my own version of how I would have designed him and the Surfer! I feel dumb for not posting this sooner!

I’ve had the absolute privilege of collaborating with Del Rey Books to illustrate a piece to celebrate the release of #InAGardenBurningGold, Rory Power’s new novel, released today! The book was positively compelling, I adored the Byzantine-influenced world-building and the fascinatingly-tense family dynamics. The siblings made for such an intriguing group to illustrate! Thank you to the Del Rey Books team for letting me be a part of this amazing project.

2015 vs 2003 //
Just got the ipad pro + apple pencil in the hopes they would serve as a portable workstation, since I’ve been utterly disappointed in the surface. My experience with them up to this point has been limited to doodles, though, so I attempted a more complete illustration to run it through the ringer combined with a re-draw of some EXTREMELY CORNY older work.
I remember nothing about this character. What was she inspired by? Who is she supposed to be, some sort of space general?? Why did her overcoat have belt loops and why wasn’t she using them???

Apparently she’s a Phantasy Star IV character, which I reimagined in 2003, and subsequently, unknowingly, redesigned again last night. MYSTERY SOLVED!!

Today was my first day of english classes! It was fun, we are ten in class because of the covid but it doesn’t matter! I hope learn more of this beautiful language and speak better in the future!
