Things To Research As A Celestial Witch

MASTERLIST

Celestial witches get most of their energies from cosmic and celestial bodies. AKA anything outer space, really :) They’re one of my favorite witches (all witches are my favorite lol) so of course I had to do a masterlist (I had to do it to ‘em).

Also, there are so many correspondences. But as always, you don’t have to research all of them to be considered a Cosmic/Celestial witch.

Enjoy!

Things To Research As A Sea Witch MASTERLIST

Sea witches are so interesting. They emit very loving and calm vibes. But also a very intense “calm before the storm” vibe. These individuals often work their magic on the sea shore or near the sea. Some who don’t live near the sea, works with close bodies of water.

This list is certainly not all you need to know, but I wrote as much as I could. You also don’t have research all of these either, they’re just suggestions! :)

Enjoy!

this is a powerful ritual that focuses on everything that goes into self-love and self-acceptance; overcoming guilt, ridding yourself of harmful habits and thoughts, seeing your own beauty, having confidence and courage, and harnessing your inner magick. best done on a fullorwaxingmoon.

❀  three candles: one white, one pink, one red

❀ yarrow (rekindling love, confidence, psychic opening)

❀ cloves (courage and self confidence)

❀ lavender (inner peace, tranquility, self love)

❀  a pen

abowlmade of glass, wood or clay

❀  a mirror on a stand, or one that can lean on furniture

before you begin your ritual, take some time for self-care that makes you feel good about yourself, your face and your body. put on some music you like, gently brush your hair, do your makeup (or gently wash your face and moisturize it, if you don’t wear makeup), wear comfortable clean clothes you feel cute and/or cozy in. if you want, anoint yourself with a fragrance or essential oil that makes you feel desirable, intoxicating, or alluring.

rest comfortably on the floor (with a pillow underneath you). ensure the mirror is in front of you and that you can see yourself in it. arrange the three candles so that the white and red candles are to either side of the mirror, and the pink candle is right in front, between you and your reflection.

light the white candle, whispering, “may you cleanse my mind and heart of self-negativity and sorrow.” light the red candle, whispering, “may your flame spark newfound self-passion.” light the pink candle, whispering, “may you inspire tender self-admiration and respect.”

look at yourself in the mirror. take a moment to really inspect your face and pinpoint the things you like about it; its smoothness, its hues, its shapes. after a moment of this, cup your hands together and hold them above the flames of the candles in the order you lit them, letting your hands grow warm. gently run your warmed hands over your forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, and slowly gliding them down your neck.

re-warm your hands with each candle, and gently press them on the places on your body you tend to dislike. show yourself care and love with hands warmed by magick.

place the bowl in front of you, close to the pink candle. take the yarrow in your hands, whispering “may you grant me the power to love myself,” and place it in the bowl. take the cloves, whispering “may you bring me confidence and courage to overcome my harmful thoughts”, setting them in the bowl.

finally, take the bay leaf and pen and write out a wish that addresses something specific regarding self-love that you want to manifest; for example, “body acceptance”, “seeing inner beauty on the outside”, “emotional healing”, or some such thing. place it in the bowl.

let a little wax from each candle drip onto the herbs in your bowl, and leave the mirror and bowl where they are for three days and three nights. each morning and evening during this time, look into the mirror for a moment and think a kind thought about yourself. on the third night, dispose of the herbs and put the mirror away.

witch’s banishing salt bowl

salt bowls, with some herb magick thrown in, are a potent method of ridding bad energy, harmful spirits or emotional hauntings from the home.

☾ the bowl

salt can damage porous materials like wood, so using a bowl made of glass, ceramic or metal is best. glass helps clarify and amplify magickal intention. ceramic embodies earth energy— robust, strong, and unwavering. metal of any type helps project magick to fill a space.

☾ the salt

regular table salt is a classic cleanser and protecter. other specialty salts can have additional magickal impact: sea salt, associated with the water element, relieves residual negative emotions, like sadness and anger. himalayan pink salt is associated with astral travel and can help dispel curses and hauntings. if you need some serious no-nonsense banishing, add powdered charcoal to any salt.

☾ banishing / cleansing herbs

basil, black peppercorns, cloves, cumin, fern, garlic, lemongrass, mullein, pine, st. john’s wort, thyme, yarrow

set your salt bowl in the center of your home for a day or two, until you feel that there is a discernible improvement of the home’s energy. repeat as needed.

here is a little ritual you can do to bring warmth, joy and harmony to a home to make it feel cozier and more welcoming. best done during a full moon, but you can do it any time. you will need:

☾ a small bowl of ceramic, wood or glass

☾ a clove of garlic(bringing warmth + togetherness to a home)

☾ a sprinkle of lavender flowers (tranquility and calm)

☾ a sprig of pine(home blessing, cleansing, grounding)

☾ a brown candle (home and hearth magick)

sit in the main area of your home. light your brown candle; sit comfortably on the floor or couch and meditate on the candle for a while. warm your hands with its flame.

set the offering bowl in front of the candle. take the garlic clove in your hands and visualize the way you want your home to feel: warm, lived-in and welcoming. warm the clove over the candle-flame briefly and set it in the bowl.

take your lavender flowers in your hands. close your eyes, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of them. let it calm you, as it will calm the energy of your home. place the flowers atop the garlic.

lastly, take the sprig of pine. use it like a wand; point it toward all four corners of the room you’re in. place it against your heart, and set it in the bowl.

whisper to the bowl: “may your magick bless this home with kindness and warmth.” blow out the candle; place the bowl on a windowsill, mantle, or coffee table for three nights. on the third night, sprinkle its contents outside your front door.

getting rid of insects in the home the green witch way

while insect visitors like ants, wasps and spiders aren’t always welcome, killing these little creatures is never ideal, and can interfere with the energy of your home. whenever possible, here are some natural + humane alternatives to pest removal.

ants:leaving lemon rind near their points of entry to your house is an effective deterrent; they will avoid the smell. you can also use baby powder, which they don’t like to walk on.

wasps:if there is a wasp nest around your home, placing several cotton balls coated in peppermint essential oil around the affected area, like the corners of the front porch, will bother the wasps enough to stay away from the area. the closer you can place the peppermint to the nest, the better.

spiders:chestnuts have a chemical compound on their surface that acts as a spider repellent; additionally, chestnuts don’t go bad for quite some time, so they can provide long-term spider deterring. place a handful of chestnuts in the corners of your home.

bees:honeybees are precious and should be kept alive at all costs. if there is a beehive near or on your home that is causing bees to enter your home, or you or someone you live with have a bee allergy, the most effective humane way to prompt the bees to build a hive elsewhere is to smoke them out. do this at dawn, as it gives the bees time to relocate before sundown. using rotten wood, paper or cardboard, create a burning pile underneath or nearby the hive, set it alight, and immediately vacate the area, as the bees will start exiting the hive. make sure all your windows are sealed. you may need to do this over the course of a few days to ensure they leave, and often times bees won’t return to an area where they’ve been smoked.

the majority of insects will be deterred by peppermint essential oil or vinegar, as a general rule.

a stovetop potpourri is a wonderful way to fill your house with whatever energy you choose. water naturally has cleansing properties, and its vapor can carry the scent (and magick!) and fill a space entirely. this is a recipe for a potpourri with warm spices and herbs to cleanse your space and cultivate positive energy within it. best done during a new or waning moon. you will need:

☾ a medium-sized metal pot

☾ three cups of water

☾ three cups of apple cider (good spirits, home magick, blessings)

☾ bay leaf (purification, blessing the home)

☾ elderflower (house blessing and clearing negativity)

☾ orange peel (blessing and sunlight energy)

☾ pine needles (new beginnings, purification)

☾ anise (instilling calm, happy energy in a space)

☾ ginger (good health, protection, optimism)

fill your pot with the water and apple cider. put all your ingredients in; other than the one bay leaf, add each item in proportion to how much you like the smell + how much of its particular magick you want in your potpourri.

set it on the stove on medium heat, and let it simmer for as long as you like, or until the water gets too low to simmer any longer. strain out the ingredients and bury them in the front or back yard, letting their magick rest on the foundation of your home. if you don’t have a yard, bury them in the soil of a houseplant.

hello wonderful witches,

i’ve made one post before about the financial complications i’m facing as a result of a large, grapefruit sized ovarian cyst that needs to be removed. my surgery is scheduled for april 16th, after which i will need to take 2 weeks off of work for recovery. neither one of my jobs offers paid sick time due to a legal loophole, so i am left with no supplemental income during my recovery.

i recently updated my shop with new items i’ve been working on, including grimoires, herbal booklets, and herbal ritual blends for as little as $3. every single item in my shop is under $10. if you are able to help in any way, i would appreciate it so much.

here is the link to my etsy shop!

autumn is an optimal time to address grief, as the nights grow long and cold and nature seems to die all around us. this ritual helps heal the stifling sorrow of losing a loved one, whether by death or the end of a relationship. best done on a waning moon.

☾ green candle (emotional healing, growth)

☾ a leaf or sprig of sage (moving on from heartbreak, cleansing)

☾ a piece of paper and a black pen

☾ matches

☾ a small garden shovel

sit comfortably in your ritual space. light your green candle. hold the sage in your hands and bring this person into your mind and let yourself feel however losing them makes you feel. if you feel like crying, cry. if you don’t, or you have complicated emotions about losing them, be honest with yourself about those feelings.

in the candlelight, with the pen and paper, write a letter to this person, living or dead. be as honest as you possibly can in it, writing how they made you feel, how you feel about losing them, and anything else you wish you could have told them. when you’re done, fold the paper Ito ¼ size, blow out the candle, and take it outside.

find a patch of soil you can dig a small hole in, about 6 inches deep and big enough to fit the folded paper. put the paper in the hole and toss a lit match in, creating a small contained fire. let the letter burn to ash. place the sage leaf atop the ashes, unburned, and fill the hole back up with soil.

the dark mother— also called the crone— is a goddess archetype that represents earth’s decay and darkness. she is the old woman of the woods, slowly withering and waning, somber and pensive. she tells us of death’s inevitability in the falling leaves and long nights of autumn and winter. the dark mother also comforts us, however, and reminds us that while the cycle of seasonal death is unavoidable, there will be new growth and brighter days ahead.

this ritual, to be cast around mabon, incorporates autumnal ingredients to ensure the dark mother feels welcome, and to obtain her wisdom and guidance to overcome our own inner darknesses.

☾ two almonds (overcoming hardships, invoking the divine)

☾ myrrh incense (spiritual strength, healing)

☾ a black candle, to represent darkness and protection

☾ a white candle, to represent lightness and cleansing

sit comfortably in your ritual space. light the myrrh incense and let the smoke curl and dance about. whisper amidst the smoke, “dark mother, i welcome you here and embrace your darkness; i only ask that you guide and protect me in its midst.”

light the black candle and warm your hands over its flame— reflect on the hardships you’re enduring (or the hardships to come), the darkness that settles all around us this time of year, and the earthly death that the dark mother brings with her. allow yourself to feel somber, sad, or mournful over these thoughts.

then, light the white candle, and warm your hands here as well. now, think of the unusual beauty that autumn holds, and remember the necessity of hardship and darkness to birth new opportunities and liveliness. do not forget that there will always be an end to your hardships, and happier times await you.

take each almond and hover them over both candle-flames, then eat one; the other is an offering for the dark mother. blow out your candles, and while the incense still burns, bury the almond outside under shallow soil.

let the incense burn out completely.

the magick of acorns

acorns are a cute, perfectly-sized magick charm to carry in your pocket. they represent the energy of the beautiful oak tree, which has long-held associations with strength, endurance, courage, generosity and honesty. for this reason, it has “kingly” attributes; it’s said that king arthur’s round table was made from a cross-section of a big elder oak tree’s trunk.

each acorn on the oak tree is believed to have its very own faerie watching over it. keep this in mind before you pluck an acorn from its tree; when harvesting acorns, it’s best to forage for fallen ones so as not to bring about fae mischief.

using acorns as charms

carry an acorn in your pocket for health, abundance, prosperity and luck.

plant an acorn in your garden under a full moon to cultivate happiness.

use an acorn at your altar to represent the earth element.

wear an acorn around your neck to bring beauty, youth, and protection.

place an acorn in your purse or wallet to attract financial security.

an acorn at your desk inspires patience and long-term success.

a simple acorn spell for strength during hardships

light a red candle, which represents strength, survival and endurance. hold an acorn in your hands and look at the flame, meditating on the hardships you’re going through and your wishes to overcome them. remind yourself that you are strong and resilient. visualize the end to the situation. warm the acorn over the candleflame, kiss the acorn, and place it under your pillow.

☾ kitchen witchcraft: acorn maple shortbread cookies

these cookies are delicious and rustic, celebrating the oak and maple trees. the cookies have powerful spiritual healing properties. here is a recipe for how to make acorn flour, which involves a couple days of labor and requires a food processor. the end product, however, is a delicious dark gluten-free flour that has chestnut flavor notes. for the cookies (makes 12), you will need:

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature (8 ounces)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup maple sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup acorn flour

1. Combine the butter, sugars and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk together with a fork.

2. Mix the salt and flours together with a whisk in another bowl, then pour the mixture in with the butter/sugar. mix with a fork just enough to make a sticky dough with no butter chunks.

3. shape the dough into a large disk, wedge between parchment paper and freeze for at least two hours, so they maintain their structure in the oven.

4. preheat the oven to 350°F. flatten the dough disk to about ½ inch and use a cookie cutter to cut out the cookies.

5. place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 23-26 minutes (or until the edges are beginning to brown).

☾ an acorn-top faerie offering

to make an offering to nearby fae and good spirits, place a ring of acorn tops on a tree stump, and fill the acorn tops with wine. leave a pile of rose petals in the center of the ring.

theathame (typically pronounced ah-tha-mey) is a blade used for ritual purposes both in traditional witchcraft and in neopagan practices like wicca. it is considered one of the four elemental tools in modern occultism, along with the wand, pentacle, and chalice. a typical athame is a small double-edged blade with a black handle (which sometimes features symbolic carvings).

purposes of the athame

contrary to naive assumptions, athames are not traditionally used for sacrifice or blood magick. they are used to direct energy during rituals, to represent the element of fire (though other practices associate it with air), for banishment rituals, and rituals involving fertility when accompanied with the chalice.

some practitioners strongly believe that the athame is not meant for any kind of physical cutting, while others will use its blade to cut plants, fabric, cord, and other things pertinent to a spell or ritual. keep in mind that the athame absorbs and channels the energy of what it interacts with, so avoid letting others use your athame and be mindful of what items you cut with it, if at all.

consecrating and blessing a new athame before use

when you get a new athame, it’s important to cleanse it and properly declare it your own. gather two candles, one white and one black.

⤏ pass the athame’s blade over the white candleflame, which cleanses it of its previously held energies and purifies its intentions.

⤏ pass the blade over the black candleflame, to endow it with protective properties.

⤏ finally, stick the blade into rich soil, to bless it with earth magick. wash the blade off with water, and it is ready to use.

ways to incorporate the athame into your craft

⤏ cast a circle by outlining it with the blade, channeling protective energy

⤏ cut open and re-close circles you’ve already cast by slicing and redrawing

⤏ use the blade to cut and harvest herbs for spellwork or kitchen witchcraft

⤏ carve sigils and other symbols into candles for candle magick

⤏ use the blade in banishing rituals to cut negative energy away

⤏ use in place of a wand during house exorcisms/protection spells

⤏ use in place of a wand during rituals involving fire

a few easy rituals you can perform with just an athame

love ritual: hold the athame in your dominant hand and visualize the kind of relationship you want to have, or your ideal partner. trace a large heart in the air in front of you with the athame and walk through the energy-heart.

protection ritual: hold the athame in your dominant hand and say “may your blade protect me from harm and ill will.” hover the blade over your body, starting at the head and moving down to your feet.

banishing ritual: hold the athame in your dominant hand and reflect on what you want to banish, whether it be a person, bad habit, spirit, negative energy, or otherwise. say with confidence “i banish you and cast you away” and extend your arm quickly, sweeping the blade away from you and pointing it outward. do this three times, or until you feel satisfied.
