Moon Water

Moon water is water that’s been charged by the Moon. Different phases and the position of the moon have different properties/correspondents ex Aquarius Full Moon. You can make your own moon water very easily, the only required supplies are water and a glass container.

  • use any kind of water; creek/stream, rain, even just plain bottled/tap water.
  • place glass container under the moonlight (a windowsill works if you cannot leave the water outside)
  • collect moon water before sunrise ensuring no sunlight touches it

*Optional* you can also add water-safe crystals or herbs to the moon water to charge it with extra magickal properties.

Once you have your moon water there’s a variety of ways you can use it

  • add it to your bath
  • blessings
  • power spells
  • charge/cleanse your crystals/tools
  • water your herbs/plants
  • drink (be sure you used clean water/a clean sealed container)

Top 10 Herbs for the Lazy Witch

Maybe you’re maybe you’re a new witch unsure of what herbs are worth your time as a beginner, maybe money is tight, or maybe you’re just lazy (like us). If we could only choose 10 herbs to use in our craft, these would be our top picks.

1. Basil – its the witch’s herb, need we say more? Not only do its magical uses span from protection to love to wealth to exorcism, but it is also delicious in mundane recipes as well. If you can only have one herb, basil is the way to go.

2. Rosemary – this herb is also blessed with a wide variety of uses. Excellent for purification, lust and love, good health, preventing nightmares, and all kinds of sea witchery. Bonus: its fragrance is to die for.

3. Lavender – so you might not be able to find this at the grocery store, but its magical uses outweigh the small inconvenience of tracking it down. Most often used for healing, love, protection, peace, purification, and sleep, lavender is a go-to for any mental health needs.

4. Chamomile – lavender’s luckier, jovial cousin. Primarily used in love, healing, and stress reducing spells, but can also be used for luck and gambling. It is associated with the sun, and makes a great tea infusion for stress relief.

5. Thyme – the best herb for social situations. It attracts loyalty, affection, and a good reputation, but we most often bathe in an infusion of thyme for constant flow of money. Also good for increasing courage.

6. Cinnamon – while technically a spice, cinnamon has many magical uses and is also delicious in cooking. Ideal for prosperity and success, protection, love, and all spells related to the spiritual self.

7.  Peppermint – a favorite in herbalism for treatment of digestive issues, this herb ideal for cleansing and protecting. Peppermint is also widely available, makes for lovely tea, and is a great addition to any luck spell.

8. Rose – is any love spell complete without rose petals? This flower is the symbol for beauty, marriage, sexuality, divine love, and all kinds of relationships. A larger list of uses for roses can be found here

9. Cayenne Pepper – every witch needs something with a bit of a bite. This spice does wonders as cursing or banishing agent, or even just as an addition to any spell to speed up results.

10. Mugwort – if we recommend any specialty herb, this is the one. Mugwort is used in spells for divination, astral travel, working within the spiritual realm, and receiving prophetic dreams. (Note: this herb should not be ingested by people who are pregnant)

7 Laws of Foraging

[Disclaimer: These aren’t actual legal rules, but important knowledge to avoid, you know, dying.]

Foraging herbs is an extremely good way to get both food and magik supplies on a budget, but mistakes can be dangerous and even deadly. These are some of the most important rules to follow if you want to be safe.

1. If you aren’t entirely sure what a plant is, treat it like it’s toxic. Even if you’re mostly confident, you need to be absolutely certain before you put anything in your mouth, and ideally before you touch it.
2. Never assume plants away from home are the same as the ones where you usually forage. Generally speaking, once you change climate and/or time zones, at least some plants will change and lookalikes will appear. Also, some plants become more or less toxic with temperature and location changes–white clover is a good example of this.
3. Don’t guess the safety of a plant you can’t identify. Many extremely dangerous plants look unassuming and pleasant, and a lot of plants that look like murder in a leaf are totally harmless. Also, never consume a herb if you don’t know its medicinal properties or if it’ll interact with your medication or a health condition. If the name ends in -wort, it probably interacts with anti inflammatory meds, SSRIs, and/or heart medication, but other plants can, too.
4. When you learn a new plant’s identification, learn its lookalikes, too. This is especially important for leafy plants, which are more likely to have dangerous lookalikes, but goes for all plants. This helps you know if it’s safe to make a mistake (for example, wild blackberries have lookalikes, but they’re all nearly identical edible berries), when you can’t risk it, and what to compare.
5. Know what parts of a plant are safe, and know if its age affects its use or edibility. Some plants are edible when young, but extremely toxic when mature, or have edible roots but emetic flowers.
6. Know what assumptions you can make. Generally, if you can cook it or breathe it, you can burn it, if you can eat it, you can touch it, etc.
7. Remember that medicine is preferable to herbs for a reason. Herbs produce chemicals in different amounts, can be misidentified, and are generally unreliable. Pills are significantly less likely to accidentally give you an overdose. If you have access to working medication, that’s always the first.

I thought this post from@zamolxiana was an interesting idea, so I built a map of herbs to represent the human body by combining this list of zodiac sign to body part correspondences, and this list of zodiac sign to herb correspondences.

  • Head, Brain, & Eyes | Aries | Wormwood/Nettle
  • Throat, Neck, & Vocal Cords | Taurus | Mint/Catnip
  • Arms, Lungs, Hands, & Nervous System | Gemini | Dill/Parsley
  • Chest, Breast, & Stomach | Cancer | Sage/Aloe
  • Heart, Spine, Spinal Column, & Upper Back | Leo | Chamomile/Tarragon
  • Digestive System, Intestines, & Spleen | Virgo | Caraway/Marjoram
  • Kidneys, Skin, Lower Back, & Buttocks | Libra | Thyme/Bergamot
  • Reproductive System & Sexual Organs | Scorpio | Coriander/Cilantro/Nettle
  • Hips, Thighs, & Liver | Sagittarius | Chervil/Saffron
  • Joints & Skeletal System | Capricorn | Rosemary/Marjoram
  • Ankles & Circulatory System | Aquarius | Fennel/Violet
  • Feet & Lymphatic System | Pisces | Basil/Borage

Assuming that if a body part corresponds to a certain zodiac sign, and an herb corresponds to a certain zodiac sign, we can use zodiac signs as a way of translating between herbs and body parts. You can probably use that as a method to translate between lots of different correspondence lists.

witch’s banishing salt bowl

salt bowls, with some herb magick thrown in, are a potent method of ridding bad energy, harmful spirits or emotional hauntings from the home.

☾ the bowl

salt can damage porous materials like wood, so using a bowl made of glass, ceramic or metal is best. glass helps clarify and amplify magickal intention. ceramic embodies earth energy— robust, strong, and unwavering. metal of any type helps project magick to fill a space.

☾ the salt

regular table salt is a classic cleanser and protecter. other specialty salts can have additional magickal impact: sea salt, associated with the water element, relieves residual negative emotions, like sadness and anger. himalayan pink salt is associated with astral travel and can help dispel curses and hauntings. if you need some serious no-nonsense banishing, add powdered charcoal to any salt.

☾ banishing / cleansing herbs

basil, black peppercorns, cloves, cumin, fern, garlic, lemongrass, mullein, pine, st. john’s wort, thyme, yarrow

set your salt bowl in the center of your home for a day or two, until you feel that there is a discernible improvement of the home’s energy. repeat as needed.

HAVE FUN!  :)

Thought this would be important to pass around!

Nearly endless in its beautiful varieties, the orchid flower almost seems to float on air as it invites one to contemplate its beauty. There are over 30,000 different varieties of wild orchids growing across this Earth, from the jungles of the equator to the arctic tundra and everywhere in-between! That’s not even counting over 200,000 hybridized varieties that florists have bred into existence. Orchids come in so many different varieties which love so many different growing conditions that, no matter where your garden, you’re sure to find a variety that’s right for you!

image

Energy ~ Feminine
Planet ~ Venus
Element ~ Water
Deities ~ Aphrodite, Qu Yan

Most varieties of orchids grow in jungle conditions, clinging to tree bark with thick white roots that are adept at drawing out moisture and nutrients. Because these varieties like to grow high in the tree tops, they’re ravenous for intense sunlight and thrive on 12-hour days — close to midsummer conditions in temperate regions. Many varieties of orchids are difficult to grow, to be sure; even professional growers can struggle to bring them to bloom! But even if your thumb isn’t quite green enough to get these fussy flowers to take to your garden, there are dozens of natural varieties and hundreds of hybridized species who are perfectly content to grow on a windowsill or under lights.

If you want to give your orchid the best possible chance of growing, do thorough research into which varieties are the best fit for your region, and purchase the most mature plant you can: younger plants are very difficult to please. If possible, buy it while it’s in bloom — that way you’ll immediately know what you’re striving for! While there are simply too many varieties of orchid to give general growing instructions for all of them, a look at the plant’s physical characteristics should give some clues. Plants with few or leathery leaves will likely prefer high-light environments, while plants with soft, limp leaves are probably light-sensitive and should not be placed in sunny south-facing windows.

In addition to one variety of orchid being our source for vanilla, the tuberous root of the plant is filled with a highly-nutritious and starchy substance, which is famous for a sweetish taste and somewhat unpleasant smell. This substance, known as bassorin, can be used to replace starch as a reserve material, or to make a drink known as salep — named after an Arabic word for orchid — which was sold in stalls from the Middle East to the streets of London until being supplanted by coffee. In addition to this drink’s purported rejuvenating properties (being lauded as a strengthening and demulcent or anti-inflammatory agent), Chinese medicine has recorded uses for orchids dating back over 3,000 years, noting varieties of the Dendrobium genus of orchids as one of nine ‘faery herbs’ said to be a gift from heaven. Different types of orchids are used in remedies for a huge variety of purposes, ranging from improving memory to treating rheumatism to even easing the symptoms of tuberculosis! Many cultures, including Greece and China, use the plant as an aphrodisiac, and orchid fragrance is also used in perfume and aromatherapy.

In terms of magick, old texts tell of witches using orchid tubers in their philters, the fresh tuber being given to promote true love whilst the withered one checks wrongful passions. Culpepper refers to orchids as being under “the dominion of Venus,” and tells us that, among other things, when “being bruised and applied to the place” they cure the King’s Evil. Orchids also correspond to beauty and elegance, expressing uniqueness, ecstasy, spiritual intuition, and Goddess energy. Some varieties of orchids are also used in creating visions, entering trance-states, and inducing psychic powers.

Confucius wrote many poems on the orchid’s beauty, and even based some of his teachings on this delicate flower! He wrote, “The orchids grow in the woods and they let out their fragrance even if there is no one around to appreciate it. Likewise, men of noble character will not let poverty deter their will to be guided by high principles and morals.” Whether you ascribe to the teachings of Confucius or not, the many multitudes of orchid varieties have a great deal to give us on all levels of our life: whether contemplating them philosophically, utilizing their medicinal properties, or simply savoring their beauty, orchids are a treasure to be cherished.

Different colors of orchid have different meanings, but generally speaking, in flower language it means “Love, Beauty, and Refinement.”

May the Tree of Life always shelter you!

energy healing spell

a spell to ease tension, heal low energies, uplift your mood, and invoke peace.

  • three candles; one blue, pink, and white
  • two small-medium sized shells (calico scallop shells, small conch-like shells, or muscle shells work great)
  • rose infused moon water
  • dried lavender, rosemary, and thyme
  • mortar and pestle
  • fresh petals from one pink rose
  • charcoal disk
  • 3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • patchouli incense
  • matches
  • optional;a sigil for your personal intent (healing, self love, confidence, empowerment, growth, etc)

- sit somewhere with good light, preferably sunlight of course or outside and have your resources laid in front of you how you desire.

- start by lighting your candles with match. take both of your shells, and place them on an even surface, carefully filling them with the rose infused moon water.

- next, in a mortar and pestle begin to grind your dried herbs together gently, once combined and roughly uniform transfer into a small bed of your fresh pink rose petals, then lay that on top of your charcoal disk, top it with the eucalyptus oil and begin to burn, following up by lighting your patchouli incense alongside it.

- if you choose to include a sigil, write it now onto any piece of paper and place it on top to burn as well. once done, sip the water in your shells (if your version is edible, if not then pour it over your hands or water plants with it).

- sit and relax into your spell for as long as you need before blowing out your candles and tidying up.

Weight loss potion spell

You will need ( you don’t need all of the stuff, if you have a little or all of it , the spell will still work) :

  • A dark blue candle: weight loss, change
  • A yellow candle: activity, action, energy, focus , confidence
  • A green candle: success
  • Sodalite Crystal: metabolism, soothes hunger pangs and cravings, helps you make healthier choices
  • Sunstone: metabolism, willpower
  • Amethyst: portion control, prevents over eating
  • Green adventurine: appetite suppressant
  • Fluorite: keeps you focused and confident
  • Picasso: self control , metabolism, prevents overeating
  • Flax seeds: beauty
  • Lemon balm leaves: success
  • (Medicinal factor) Lemon balm , lemon grass or peppermint tea: will help digestion , weight loss and body health

How to:

1. Organize flax seed, lemon balm leaves, crystals and candles into a circle formation and place your cup of tea in the middle before you put your tea bag in!

2. Put tea bag in, and as it steeps for 2-3 mins, visualize the energies of the magickal items flowing into your cup as you Chant “I will reach my goal weight” for as long as you feel you need to.

3. Drink your tea and place the crystals, leaves and seeds beside your bed in a circle , sort of crystal grid like formation.

Keep the lil Crystal and herb grid by your bed until the leaves go kinda gross. You should be able to lose weight and stay in better control.

Extra tip:drink one of the suggested teas above at least once every day before bed. A tea recipe can be found below!

Make your own tea for this spell

If you have your own lemongrass, lemon balm and peppermint leaves, collect some from your plants and bake them in the oven on a cookie sheet at 260 F for 7.5 minutes and make a tea from it, it tastes like fruit loops! Doesnt really need honey or anything but honey does make it a lil more delicious!

Lemon balm: helps bloating

Lemongrass: diuretic, aids digestion, strengthens your system/ body

Peppermint: weight loss, aids digestion, appetite suppressant

NOTES:
1. DO  UR OWN RESEARCH!!! all of these have slightly different purposes (i.e. lavender is good for attracting specifically a man/ masc energy in a love spell, some happiness herbs are for “happiness through marriage” so just make sure u know what the herb is for). ALSO, try to find 2 other sources agreeing with this info before using it as fact, my notes in my grimoire, while fact-checked, are not infallible.

2. i don’t know all of this off the top of my head lol. i feel like that’s an important thing to say bc a lot of people make lists like this and imply that they just know it. i don’t! and most people don’t! it takes a lot of time and effort and focus to memorize this much information, and i, a girl who once put on one shoe then ate lunch and forgot to put the other one on, do not have that focus. these are notes from both my online notes, my BOS and grimoire, and a few online books.

3. again, fact check all of this. please.

4. if something on here is blatantly incorrect, please (nicely) correct me! i do not want to be spreading misinformation and i’m making this list as a cheat-sheet/ jumping off point for people DOING THEIR OWN RESEARCH (and to combat the notion that rosemary corresponds to every intention because that is simply not true).

5. this is not a comprehensive list.

6. let me know if y’all want a part two, and if so what other categories you want (uncrossing, psychic awareness, sleep etc.)

7. DON’T EAT HERBS THAT YOU AREN’T SURE ARE FOOD GRADE. THINGS CAN BE “EDIBLE” WITHOUT BEING FOOD GRADE.

8. DON’T USE HERBS WITHOUT DOING RESEARCH IF YOU HAVE ANY ALLERGIES, HEALTH CONDITIONS, OR ARE PREGNANT

9. MAGICK AND HERBS ARE NOT A FEASABLE SUBSTITUTE FOR MEDICATION OR THERAPY

10. i love u all, thank you for being here, and thank u all my new followers :)) i know i sound aggressive but i’m truly thankful for y’all and i just want to keep y’all safe.
