The Wheel of the Year is a diagram of the Sabbats celebrated in Paganism, equinoxes are included here as well.

image

Yule: Celebrated at the Winter Solstice, Yule is the celebration of the Goddess giving birth to the God.

Imbolc: Celebrated on February 2, it is the time when the first plantings of spring crops occur. It is also considered to be a time of spiritual cleansing and renewal of vows.

Ostara: Celebrated at the Spring Equinox in March, this sabbat represents a new beginning partly because it marks the beginning of longer days and shorter nights. It also marks the union of the God and Goddess and therefore symbolizes fertility.

Beltane: Celebrated on May 1, it represents the end of the planting season and the beginning of harvesting. It also represents fertility, as the celebration often involves loosened rules for fidelity.

Litha: Celebrated at the Summer Solstice, this sabbat represents the peak of the God’s strength. It may involve lighting large bonfires to ward off evil spirits.

Lammas: Celebrated on August 1, this is a time when the Goddess turns over control to the God. It is a time of feasts and craft festivals.

Mabon: Celebrated at the Autumn Equinox, Mabon represents the balance between light and dark, as it is the day that nights start becoming longer than days. It is officially the Pagan day of Thanksgiving.

Samhain: Celebrated on Halloween, Samhain means the end of summer and the beginning of winter. On this night, the dead are said to be able to communicate with the living in order to be with and celebrate with their families.

Other depictions include the Celtic Wheel of the Year with each holiday being represented by a rune.

What are cycles that you find yourself in that you want to change? What steps can you do to change that cycle? And finally how will your life be better once you alter those cycles?

Chaos: The Void

I’ll be going through the greek pantheon first in order of family tree and then other pantheons later on

image

Chaos was the origin of everything and the very first thing that ever existed. It was a primordial void, which everything was created from including the universe and the Greek Gods. In ancient Greek, Chaos is translated as ‘the gaping void.’

In the beginning, Chaos was a state of random disorder existing in primordial emptiness, and soon later a Cosmic Egg formed in its belly and it hatched producing the first deities into the darkness. Chaos was often thought of to be female, possessing both anthropomorphic and tangible qualities however this interpretation changed as the mythology evolved according to different historians and poets. The far-reaching idea is that Chaos is a space that separates and divides the Earth and the Sky.

And Middle Hand Path.

For witches, a question that can get often asked is what path you’re on,  usually the answers being a Left Hand Path (LHP), Right Hand Path (RHP), Middle Hand Path (MHP) or you simply just say “I don’t know.” If you don’t know what these terms mean, I listed them below and will further explain them. These terms are not void of controversy and bias, however.

The Left Hand Path

The left-hand path is considered to be about the elevation and centrality of the self as well as the rejection of religious authority and societal taboos.

The left-hand path focuses on the strength and will of the practitioner. It downplays the need for intercession by any high power although some may believe that a higher power exists.

Satanism (both LaVeyan and Theistic) and Luciferianism are considered left-hand paths. Followers of Thelema disagree whether it is a left- or right-hand path.

The Right Hand Path

The right-hand path, in the words of left-hand path follower Vexen Crabtree, “concentrate[s] on the symbols of goodness, of the sun, of herd mentality and submission to god(s) and religious authority."

To put it a little more diplomatic, the right-hand path can be thought of as one of dogma, ritual, and a belief in the community and formal structure as well as a higher power. Though each of those can also be found in left-hand path religions, there is less focus on indulging the self in the right-hand path.

The vast majority of religions are considered part of the right-hand path, from Christianity to Wicca.

In my own words…

Usually the left hand path is viewed as “bad” and right viewed as “good.”

With your LHP being demons, Lucifer, Hades, Anubis, satanism, and black magick

And your RHP being angels, Apollo, Archangels, Ra, and white magick

Yin and Yang type situation.

Limitations and Biases

One very large limitation of this terminology is that it is primarily used by followers of the left-hand path. Satanists commonly describe their path as that of the left-hand. However, Christians, Jews, Wiccans, Druids, and the like do not identify themselves as being of the right-hand path. As such, definitions of the right-hand path tend to be phrased in fairly derogatory terms as Crabtree demonstrated.

The Origin

The terms left-hand and right-hand paths in Western occultism is commonly attributed to Theosophy founder Helena Blavatsky, who borrowed the terms from Eastern practices.

The West has a history of associating the ‘right’ with goodness and correctness and the 'left’ with inferiority.

The left side of a shield is known as the sinister side, which is based on the Latin word for "left.” This later became associated with evil and maliciousness.

Middle Hand Path

Both the left hand path and the right hand path can often have extremists and see things in linear shades of black and white if they aren’t looking deeper.

Middle path is about moderation and about having empathy to understand who is next to you. Anything in excess will have a negative effect. While spirituality and occult can be helpful, we need money to buy the clothes we wear, pay the internet we view this on etc.

It’s all about moderation and also seeing things objectively. To view the world in black and white can be rather limiting. Every story changes depending on who tells it.

Write a letter to yourself, forgiving yourself of all the things you did but don’t like dwelling on, and apologizing to your younger self for not treating your mental wounds like you would physical, then write about what you’re going to improve about yourself, stick to it.

Shielding is a way of protecting yourself from psychic, mental, or magical attack—it’s a way of creating an energy barrier around yourself that other people can’t penetrate.

When you shield, you envelope yourself with your energy. Focus on your energy core, and expand it outward so that it covers your entire body. Ideally, you’ll want it to extend past the surface of your body so that it’s almost as though you’re walking around in a bubble.

When you’re forming your energy shield, it’s a good idea to visualize the surface of it as being reflective. This not only protects you from negative influences and energy, but it can also repel them back to the original sender. If you’re someone who is often affected by the emotions of others—if certain people make you feel drained and exhausted by their very presence—then you need to practice shielding techniques.

The Clairs are physic abilities that we have, now we don’t have all of them although it’s possible to train them, it is hard though.

Clairvoyance means clear seeing.
This is when visions past, present and future flash through our mind’s eye, or third eye, much like a daydream. Many of us are highly visual and able to understand an idea best when we see it written or sketched out as an image on a computer screen or on a canvas. Visual people often choose to be artists, builders, photographers, decorators, designers and so forth. If this sounds familiar, your clairvoyance is most likely a dominant sense.

Clairaudience means clear hearing.
This is when we hear words, sounds or music in our own mind’s voice. On rare occasions, spirit may be able to create audible sound, though this takes a tremendous amount of focused energy. Some of us best retain and comprehend information when we hear it spoken aloud. Our natural talents tend to lie in our auditory faculties, often making us gifted musicians, singers, writers and public speakers. If this feels right to you, clairaudience may be a leading sense for you.

Clairsentience means clear feeling.
This entails feeling a person’s or spirit’s emotions or feeling another’s physical pain. Many of us are clairsentient without consciously being aware of it. When we get a strong “gut” feeling, positive or negative, about someone we just met or when we get the “chills” for no apparent reason, we may be tuning into the emotional energy of a person or a spirit around us. When we are highly sensitive and are in tune with not only our own feelings, but also the feelings of others, this makes us natural healers and caregivers. We often feel inspired to pursue careers as doctors, therapists, counselors, nannies and teachers. If this is you, clairsentience is at the top of your senses list.

Clairalience means clear smelling.
This is being able to smell odors that don’t have any kind of physical source. Instances of this could include smelling the perfume or the cigarette smoke of a deceased relative, used as a sign of their presence around us. When our sense of smell is strong and distinct, we may find that certain smells connect us to past memories or we may be drawn to working as a florist, a wine taster or a perfume fragrance creator.

Clairgustance means clear tasting.
This is the ability to taste something that isn’t actually there. This experience oftentimes comes from out of the blue when a deceased loved one is attempting to communicate a memory or association we have with a particular food or beverage that reminds us of them. If we have a heightened sense of taste, this would make us natural chefs, bakers or food critics.

Claircognizance means clear knowing.
This is when we have knowledge of people or events that we would not normally have knowledge about. Spirit impresses us with truths that simply pop into our minds from out of nowhere. An example of this would be a premonition: a forewarning of something that will happen in the future. Claircognizance requires tremendous faith because there’s often no practical explanation for why we suddenly “know” something. Many philosophers, professors, doctors, scientists, religious and spiritual leaders and powerful sales and business leaders tend to be highly intuitive and seem to just know the facts with a sense of certainty. If this is you, consider claircognizance as one of your dominant senses.

Erebus: The Darkness

image

Erebus was one of the oldest ancient Greek gods. He was one of the sons of the first goddess Chaos or Khaos. In mythology, his most common mistress was the goddess Nyx.

Erebus was the father of many gods and goddesses, including Aether, Hypnos (Sleep,) and Thanatos (Death).

Erebus was the Greek god of the Underworld and his name meant “place of darkness between earth and Hades.” His name was often used to refer to part of the Greek Underworld where the spirits of the dead pass after the leave the living bodies. This place was also sometimes called Tartarus.

Erebus was credited with finishing the Underworld after the gods created Earth. He did this by filling in the empty places with dark mists. Nyx used Erebus’ dark mists to bring night to earth. The Greek poets referred to this as the “Veil of Night.” In some stories, Erebus, Nyx, and Hemera are referred to as spirits rather than gods.

What emotion do you need to feel? What emotion do you try to keep controlled and hidden? Why? Do you believe all emotions need to be felt? Why? Are you afraid of feeling those certain emotions? Why?

Just a daily reminder to drink water, eat food, take your meds and go drink some tea

Nyx: The Night

image

Nyx is the Greek Goddess of the night, and the daughter of Chaos. Her birthplace was not on Earth but in Gaia. She is Primordial God. It is said that she was created near the beginning of time. Her home is in the depths of Hades’ underworld. Nyx has a shadowy figure, which makes her the perfect personification of the night.

Nyx is a very unique goddess. She can impact mankind in a good or bad way. Her ability to bring sleep or death unto to the human race. Zeus even feared Nyx because she was older and stronger than him. That speaks volumes of her power. The moonstone is used to honor her to this day. It reflects it’s owner and should be used during the full moon.

Nyx lived in Tartarus. However, Nyx is not exactly the personification of evil in greek mythology. She’s never spoken of having done anything more ‘evil’ than Zeus himself does in any mythology. Yet, many see her as more of a villain figure than she ever appears to be.

Nyx married Erebus, the God of darkness. Nyx and Erebus produced Hemera (Day) and Aither (Light). Hemera is Nyx’s opposite. Nyx brought the dark veil over the night, while Hemera chased the dark mists away each morning. Interestingly so, Nyx was able to create her own dark spirits including Fates, Sleep, Death, Strife, and Pain. More of Nyx’s children include, Geras, Moros, Nemesis, the Keres, and the Oneiroi.

Stuffed Apples for Mabon

Happy Mabon my greenies! I’m so happy to bring this recipe for you to enjoy during this festive time. Like all my recipes, these can be used with or without a chant, you can create your own, or if you’re not a practitioner. I want to bring joy and comfort for this time of year. This is a recipe I used last year and decided to post it for y’all. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 5 Apples (I use honeycrisp)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Dash of vanilla

For Topping

  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup old fashioned oats
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

  1. First cut off the tops of the apples and core them. Make sure you spoon out the insides and save them. (Also save all peels to use as offerings or compost) Use the inside of the apple and cut into small ¼ inch chunks.
  2. Mix together the apple chunks, cornstarch, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla. Put into the apple and make sure you leave a little space for the crumble topping. While mixing these ingredients, think on all you’re thankful for and fill the apples with love and hope.
  3. Cut up the butter into little pieces and put some inside the apple. Then mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt and place on top of the apple. While mixing, you can say the chant below or your own. Use the rest of the butter to sprinkle on top of the apples.
  4. Preheat ovan at 375 degrees F and place apples onto a covered baking sheet. Cover the tops of the apples with foil and bake for 15 min and the uncover and bake for 20. Wait at least 10 minutes before eating and enjoy with some ice cream.

Chant: While fog may cast in front of my eyes, the breeze of fall trails with browning leaves. A warm hand on my back and wisp of hair, let my future shine. Let my love rejoice and my mind rest with ease. My life, my hope, my dream.

Once again my lovelies, happy Mabon to you and your loved ones. I hope that with the shifting of seasons, brings change to our society.

With all my love,

Kenzie

❄️Reminder: It’s that time of year!❄️

Don’t forget that the earth is presenting us with a lot of ingredients for spellwork. Collecting things that fall off trees because of the changing seasons is extremely important and just fun.

Some things to remember.

  • Wear proper protection when harvesting. (gloves are your friend)
  • Bring sustainable containers.
  • Don’t forget offerings. - Fruit & Veggie peels work great. Also old tea leaves.
  • Don’t rip things off. Since there’s so much already on the ground, it can be considered rude to take what’s not offered.

Knowing how to harvest is an important skill when working with witchcraft. If you’re a baby witch or just don’t have as much knowledge regarding harvesting. Make sure you do your research before diving in.

Happy hunting!

- Kenzie
