If you aren’t queer then literally no one is talking about you when they say “queer people” or “the queer community”.
Queer people who are talking about other queer people are not talking about people who aren’t queer.
You’re not queer? You don’t want anyone to call you queer? Then congrats, you are not part of the queer community. That’s how this works.
“don’t talk about the queer community, I’m not one of you” then cool, we’re not talking about you. And no, we won’t stop talking about the queer community. It’s our community. You aren’t in it, you said it yourself.
Here’s a graph to make it even more clear:
[ID: A piegraph labeled, “people included in the queer community:”, with the key on the side listing “people who are queer” as purple at 100%, and “people who aren’t queer” as green at 0%. The pie graph is colored completely solid purple. End ID.]
if it’s not about you, then don’t make it about you. If you aren’t queer, then we aren’t talking about you when we talk about the queer community or queer people.
You are doing the equivalent of walking up to someone who’s talking about people whose favorite color is blue and, despite the fact that your favorite color is red, demanding that they stop talking about you, even though they literally aren’t.
If you’re thinking of tagging this as “q slur” then simply don’t reblog it at all!
Here’s the thing about LGBT+ vs. Queer.
I’m ace, nonbinary, and demiromantic. With LGBT+ I’m included in the plus. And I’m happy to be included! Indeed, folks pointedly using LGBT without the plus makes my hackles raise.
But. I am sick of being in the fucking plus sign like an afterthought.
And no, adding more to the alphabet soup doesn’t help that feeling. There’s a limit to what human brains can cram in. I don’t think it’s reasonable to make folks say an increasingly long acronym every time they mention the community. I appreciate the effort, but you’re always going to either leave someone out or cram them into the miscellaneous field the plus sign represents.
With Queer I’m just there, alongside my queer siblings. The details may be different, but I’m just as queer as a cis allo gay man or a trans allo straight woman or a genderfuck individual.
We already tried to meet folks who don’t like queer as a word halfway with MOGAI. Marginalized Orientations, Gender Alignment, and Intersex. It’s inclusive without using the Dreaded Q-Word. Surely, if the objection was to “queer” as a Terribly Traumatizing Word (just like, oh, every other word used for us: “gay” was the slur of choice where I was growing up), MOGAI would be the perfect solution, yes?
And yet, that was thrown back into our faces and turned into an insult. So, at that point, I said fuck it and fuck you. I’m queer, and if its inclusivity makes you mad, good.
Haha, when your parent refers to you as the wrong gender, refers to your chosen name as “just a nickname”, deadnames you, and using the wrong pronouns all in one sentence.
:’)
*SWEAR WARNING*
Okay, I am fucking ready to throw hands with the Florida Government. This “Don’t Say Gay” bill would prevent both LGBTQ children and teachers from talking about that. A literal child wouldn’t be able to talk about their own parents if their parents are LGBTQ. Not oy that, but this is severely detrimental to the mental health of both out and closeted children. I for one am disgusted by this bill and beg everyone to sign the petition to get it abolished. Signing is free and takes less than five minutes. Please, this legislation is disgusting, an infringement on people’s rights, and just plain fucked up.

Just wanted to be cute for a while
Much of my research deals with the ways in which bodies are disciplined and how they go about resisting that discipline. In this piece, adapted from one of the answers to my PhD preliminary exams written and defended two months ago, I “name the disciplinary strategies that are used to control bodies and discuss the ways that bodies resist those strategies.” Additionally, I address how strategies of embodied control and resistance have changed over time, and how identifying and existing as a cyborg and/or an artificial intelligence can be understood as a strategy of control, resistance, or both.
In Jan Golinski’s Making Natural Knowledge, he spends some time discussing the different understandings of the word “discipline” and the role their transformations have played in the definition and transmission of knowledge as both artifacts and culture. In particular, he uses the space in section three of chapter two to discuss the role Foucault has played in historical understandings of knowledge, categorization, and disciplinarity. Using Foucault’s work in Discipline and Punish, we can draw an explicit connection between the various meanings “discipline” and ways that bodies are individually, culturally, and socially conditioned to fit particular modes of behavior, and the specific ways marginalized peoples are disciplined, relating to their various embodiments.
This will demonstrate how modes of observation and surveillance lead to certain types of embodiments being deemed “illegal” or otherwise unacceptable and thus further believed to be in need of methodologies of entrainment, correction, or reform in the form of psychological and physical torture, carceral punishment, and other means of institutionalization.[(Locust, “Master and Servant (Depeche Mode Cover)”]

Reminders for Aromantics
- Not being able to reciprocate others romantic feelings towards you is not your fault and also not your responsibility
- Labels are fluid and definitely can change, but it’s okay if they don’t, too.
- You get to choose what information you share with others about your identity. This includes labels and personal feelings. Especially regarding those invasive question people sometimes ask. You are under no obligation to answer them.
- You do not need romance in life to be successful or happy. Happiness and success come in so many different forms other than romance and romantic relationships.
- You are valid, heard, seen, and important. You contribute to the huge amount of diversity in this community. Most importantly, you’re not alone.

She meets supermarket employee Takahashi when she goes to support a “fall-in-love” campaign by her junior at work. She is startled when she hears him say that there are people who don’t fall in love. As Sakuko’s mother keeps hurrying her to get married, she decides to move out and rent an apartment with her friend but her friend backs out at the last minute after reconciling with her ex-boyfriend. Just when Sakuko is about to give up, she ends up living with Takahashi under one roof because of their similar values towards romance.
