Alfablot, the Nordic counterpart to Samhain, or as some of you may know it as Halloween, is a very sacred time of remembrance of our deceased ancestors. We gather around our close family, and exchange stories of great men and women within our family tree, who we honor that night with drink and warm food. We must keep them in our thoughts, for they overcame great struggles to bring us to life. This is their night.

Hail to our deceased brothers,
To our past sisters
To the mothers of our mother
And fathers of our father
Though you may be gone
We feel your presence
And honor your life
You will never be forgotten
Hail

Custom Brigid statue completed!

The customer gave me some photo inspiration from some of Valerie Vargas’ amazing tattoo work - one of a punk Mother Mary - and to make it fit with Brigid’s symbolism. I am absolutely in love and don’t want to give it away!

If you’d like your own custom goddess statue, just message me or visit my website/shop to fill out a request form or browse my available custom statue slots!

Death’s Head Divination

Here are some of the new pieces that have been added to my shop over the last week!

There are also custom Hel Mary statues slots that can be used for other goddess/deity creations, other spooky/witchy/pagan art pieces and some new vintage picks. Anything that was in the shop for over a year (excluding art) has been donated to a local fund-raising event coming up in June so there aren’t many pieces that are 40% off available still there. There are also still a handful of crystals available that support me and my friend.

Other than that just some general me/shop updates and requests - I have over $700 in regular bills still due by 5/8/22 and DoorDash has no incentives this week until the 6th, making it not worth my time to drive in the meantime. Any sales really help me out in general, but no one on any social media platform seems to be seeing any of my work consistently. Please reblog if you can for someone else who may want to support the shop or buy my work!

The new website is up with links to where you can find me, the weekend auctions, my discord channel, examples of my previous work and general info on what customs I offer. Please check it out and sign up for newsletters! I only have one subscriber rn

Death’s Head Divination

Basil Tea

(I promise it tastes better than it sounds)

Ingredients:

  • 4 fresh basil leaves
  • Water
  • 1 lemon (3-5 drops of juice to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • A teaspoon of raw sugar

Directions:

Pick the freshest basil leaves and wash them gently to avoid blemishing the leaves.

Place the leaves in the strainer

Boil water in a kettle.

Put the hot boiling water into your cup or mug. Then, put the fresh basil leaves into it with the other ingredients.

Let it set for around 3-4 minutes until the water turns into a bit of a golden colour.

Using the strainer, remove the leaves.

My basil bush is thriving.

The best time to harvest is on a warm, sunny day, just after the dew has dried and just before the flowers form. But you can harvest basil as you need it.

Harvest by pinching off leaves as needed once the plant is strong enough to handle it. If taking a large harvest, leave at least two shoots intact. It will grow back in a few weeks.

Hang upside in bunches or lay flat on a drying rack to dry. Ensure proper ventilation to reduce the chance of mold. Store in an airtight container away from heat or light for up to one year. The flavor of dried basil is not as good as fresh basil.

Basil helps steady the mind, brings happiness, love, peace, and money and protects against insanity.

Use basil in spells to attract love and in preparation for astral projection or to bring luck in physical journeys.

Carrying a leaf in your pocket or wallet will attract money.

Keep a bit of basil in each room to protect the home and family. To protect you when leaving the house, rub some basil on your forehead.

Also used in peacemaking spells and to make up after a fight.

The Goddess courses through my veins

Her waters heal my aches and pains

You push and pull my tides within

The blood I shed was not in sin

Your presence fills my heart with ease

My spirit won’t break, I bend like a tree

I cast my rites with You in mind

This tool I use, to You I bind

Please bless this vessel with water I drew

For rituals to bring honor to you

          With your intentions guiding me

This is my will, so mote it be

Just a quick post about altar setups and some ideas, your altars do not have to look like these, these are just ideas, do at your hearts content.

Pics of the new 5-candleholder resin altar centerpiece that I got from Home of Arachne! She enclosed some beautiful stickers, flower-shaped tea lights and treats as well as a hand-signed note. This is why I love buying from other small business owners!

WICCA STARTER KITS ~ AVAILABLE @ Eclectic Artisans Pagan Marketplace.

WHAT IS INSIDE:
• One 4" x 6" wooden Tarot box, carved with a pentacle and flowers and vines. This is hand carved in India, and is absolutely gorgeous. The photos hardly do it justice. It has a hinged lid. Perfect for keeping your special treasures and goodies in.

• One wooden mortar and pestle. The mortar is approximately 3 ½" tall, and the pestle is approximately 4" long. It is a quality, durable item that is made to last. Beautiful in its simplicity, as well as functional.

•One silver toned pentacle altar bell. Again, I am impressed by the quality and beauty of this item, as well. It is approximately 4" tall and has a lovely tone.

• One ritual chalice with triple moon engraving, approximately 4" tall and 2" wide. Once again, beauty meets with quality. This is a beautiful item that you can enjoy for long years, and can then be passed down as an heirloom. Truly an item to treasure.

• One ritual athame with wooden handle and brass trim and leather sheath. The double edged blade is stainless steel. Elegantly simple.

• One 18" x 18" black altar cloth with fringed edges. It is 100% silky rayon fabric. It has a metallic gold triple moon and pentacle design with Celtic knotwork around the edges. Beautiful and soft.

• One white sage smudge stick, approximately 4"

• Nine 4" chime candles (green, black, purple, orange, yellow, red, blue, pink, and white)

• One white porcelain chime candle holder.

• Four incense cones (scent may vary by availability)

• One .50 ounce glass vial of my own blended all purpose altar oil, for blessing your tools, sacred space, or whatever your need may be. This is a good blessing and all purpose oil.

“Shrines and temples they timbered high”
Völuspá

A horg (Old Norse “hǫrgr”) is a sacrificial site or a form of altar in pre-Christian times in the Nordic countries and which roughly refers to a "stone pile".

In the poem Hyndluljóð, the goddess Frøya (Freyja) speaks favorably of Ottar (Óttar) for having worshiped her so faithfully by using a horg. Frøya details that the horg is constructed of a heap of stones and that Ottar often reddened these stones with sacrificial blood in dedication to her. Snorre Sturlason states that the horg is used in the veneration of the Åsynjene (female gods).

In the poem Vafþrúðnismál, it is also stated that many a horg and hov were dedicated to Njord (Njörðr).

A horg is considered different to a hov (from the Old Norse hof), commonly called a “temple”. A rough simplification is that horg were for outdoor rituals and hov for indoors worship.

Many modern day heathens within Scandinavia continue to use a stone set as a focal point for rituals conducted outdoors to this day.

Dark Goddess Altar

The days are getting darker and soon it will be Samhain/Día de los Muertos/Halloween/whatever this time may signify to you.

I got the goddess statue at Joanne Crafts, the butterfly from the Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, and the Lotería cards on amazon. I’ll hopefully be adding some family photos over the next month to prepare for the day and invite my ancestors in.

It’s Imbolc kids…or it was two days ago! Nothing like a delayed picture of an Imbolc altar to make other witches/pagans/wiccans go “AHHH crap, I forgot again!” I feel ya…I feel ya (bad, bad witch)

Happy Imbolc Witches!

Beautiful altar space!
