A few of my favs at home, my tall snake plant is almost at capacity. My next place will have to have 15ceilings and a hopefully even more natural light …currently I have a ton. My pilea is looking a bit limp, I’m still trying to figure that one out.

Finally set and filled these three beds that I built last year. Hand tilled up the grass and weeds, leveled the ground, laid down a ton of cardboard and positioned the beds. Then hauled, dumped, hand sifted and raked out 45cu ft of soil. My back is killing me but it’s almost ready for planting. My basil bush is thriving.
The best time to harvest is on a warm, sunny day, just after the dew has dried and just before the flowers form. But you can harvest basil as you need it.
Harvest by pinching off leaves as needed once the plant is strong enough to handle it. If taking a large harvest, leave at least two shoots intact. It will grow back in a few weeks.
Hang upside in bunches or lay flat on a drying rack to dry. Ensure proper ventilation to reduce the chance of mold. Store in an airtight container away from heat or light for up to one year. The flavor of dried basil is not as good as fresh basil.
Basil helps steady the mind, brings happiness, love, peace, and money and protects against insanity.
Use basil in spells to attract love and in preparation for astral projection or to bring luck in physical journeys.
Carrying a leaf in your pocket or wallet will attract money.
Keep a bit of basil in each room to protect the home and family. To protect you when leaving the house, rub some basil on your forehead.
Also used in peacemaking spells and to make up after a fight.

I’ve seen several repotting posts recently so I’ll share one that I did over the weekend: I needed two spider plants to be potted in identical pots - this pure green version was in a 6" pot. I LOVE unpotting plants: it’s a chance to look under the hood; to check for anything gone funky (rotted); and just to appreciate parts of the plant you rarely see.

2) this spider plant is severely root bound: see how the root matter has essentially filled up the bottom of the pot, pushing out the soil over the past few months. On the bright side, these roots are very healthy - fleshy, bright colored, no brown/black mushy parts at all (I’m quite surprised cuz there’s usually SOME decay).

3) your soil aerator (aka chopstick) is also a great tool for gently untangling roots. As @ohiotropics noted in a recent post, you must untangle the roots before repotting in order for the whole process to be worthwhile.

I’d also like to pass along some great advice from @that_one_plant_guy - if you’re amending soil with perlite (the white foamy granules) - rinse it off first to get rid of the dust particles!

This is my biggest leaf so far - its green is deepening to be like its peers. 2) Here’s the leaf from last week where I had to extract it from the sheath: it’s the smallest leaf I’ve seen that features midrib holes. I’m keen to see whether the leaf will grow much larger or whether having been stuck in the sheath early on will stunt its growth
