So this probably won’t get as much attention as my other ATYD posts because this one’s actually serious, instead of “oh my god this fic is sad!” But I feel like it’s a crucial conversation we need to have.

I feel like for the most part, people in this community do really well with talking about how mlm is fetishized, but I’m becoming increasingly concerned because of the posts I keep seeing where allies are trying to make sure wolfstar or gay ships aren’t being fetishized, when in reality sometimes it’s okay for things to just be slightly sexual.

Sexuality is not taboo and we need to be careful not to make it out to be taboo.

I feel like the LGBT and MLM communities have come so far and I think it could be harmful to our communities to reintroduce a stigma around gay sex and gay people being sexual.

It is not fetishizing to talk about gay sex in passing, and it is not a bad thing.

For example, I saw someone make a joke about Sirius and Remus having a sexual relationship (specifically in all the young dudes) and someone called them out (politely) asking why they had to go to a sexual place to describe the relationship between Sirius and Remus. And while I think it is important to have these conversations and check our internal biases about gay men and make sure we are not constantly sexualizing them, sometimes, things are just related to sex, sex can be a subject and not be inherently bad.

I then saw someone else saying that ATYD can get fetish-y because of the way Remus is more sexual around the full moon. But that’s not a bad thing! And it actaully fits the story perfectly, around the full moon remus feels everything deeper. Magic,emotions, and so it makes sense for his desires to also increase. 

This is been all over the place but basically what I’m trying to say is yes it is good to check our biases and politely call people out when they might be accidentally fetishizing gay men. But we can’t talk about sex, specifically gay sex, as something that is improper or wrong, because it is the opposite of progress to denormalize talking about gay people being sexual. Gay sex isn’t a subject that we should discourage having conversations about.

I really wish I could better articulate what I’m trying to say but I’m tired and I cant word things to save my life, just be careful when trying to deconstruct fetishization of gay men, because as much as that is bad stigmatizing gay sex isn’t helping anyone either.

The night before

“Remus.”

Sirius choked out through the fire. Remus could see only his face appear in the fire he had set just outside of his tent. He was on a mission for the Order, therefore owling letters was too risky, so Sirius and him decided this was a safer and more beneficial (in light of the fact that they could see each other) way of communication.

“Pads, how are you? Is everything okay?”

“It is, its fine, I just wanted to talk to you, ‘s all.” said Sirius quietly. Remus sighed.

The thing was that there was no such thing as ‘just talking’, or at least Remus thought so. There was a war going on strongly, their best friends were hiding somewhere and it felt like he was waiting for bad news to strike him. Just talking made him nervous because they felt normal, and things were everything but normal.

“When are you coming back?” Sirius asked.

Remus didn’t actually know when he was coming back, but he knew it was soon. He hoped it was soon, “Soon. Okay? Don’t worry about me.”

“Right. Okay.”

There was a long silence. But it wasn’t uncomfortable, because Remus and Sirius could sit in each other’s presence for twelve years and say absolutely nothing, and it still wouldn’t be weird. They guessed it was love.

Love. How to think about love when the point of war is hate? It was so easy loving Sirius. They were just twenty-one and already engaged and it was so easy being in love.

“Remus, there is something I’d like to tell you. I’m not the-“ Sirius was cut off.

“Shit, shit, shit. I can’t hear you anymore. I’ll talk to you tomorrow, yeah? I love you.”

“O-oh, okay. I miss you.” said Sirius, upset that he didn’t tell Remus what he wanted to, but it’s fine, i’ll tell him tomorrow, he thought.

“I miss you too. But when all this is over we will be a proper family, you’ll see.” Remus whispered.

And the connection broke.

It was 30th October 1980.

Sirius: That’s literally the worst thing anyone has ever said to me.

Something about the canon i can’t handle is that bulshit about the distrust upong Remus. It really piss me off that friendship doesn’t mean anything for Rowling. For me is just so stupid to talk about distrust, they forged a really powerful bond, their brotherhood and love could survive everything…

I always try to put those feelings in my drawings, the way i truly see them, and for this one, i see trust…

I love the headcanon about Remus reading muggle literature or kids tales to Sirius

There were a lot of fun scenes from their youth that would probably be more fun to draw than the pain of the post-Azkaban era, but I just couldn’t get out of my head the domesticity of Remus taking care of broken Sirius and the symbolic reversal of their roles

Gotta love those secondary characters who all end up dying.
