LIVE

Today i cracked open this magnum of Valentina : my favourite hot sauce for eggs/ breakfast!

Egg sandwiches are so fucking good, as long as the bread has got some grains in it.

I kept trying to post these lunches from last week but my phone kept shitting the bed!

I had my 5 grain salad every day with a variety of other snacks to keep me going for my whole work day!

I have no idea what I’m going to be eating for work lunch this week but I better figure it out fast!

5 Grain blend, cucumber, red pepper, tomato, and feta.

Sauce is a bit of olive oil, a bit of feta brine, Greek seasoning, and a touch of lemon pepper.

This recipe was made by a friend of mine over Christmas holiday and I really enjoyed it, so I’m excited to be able to have it for lunch this upcoming week.

Health Goth Update:

i’m going to work on getting back into daily posts starting tomorrow (with today’s meals).

Yes i have been struggling a great deal mentally, and yes that has translated into my eating- but i feel ready to get back on top of things:

why? because of your messages.

Some of your fellow Health Goths have sent me some incredibly kind, meaningful messages about how this blog has helped or inspired them- so if that’s the case, i better step up and keep up, right?

I am so grateful to all of you for participating in this blog and coming along for this ride with me.

Like Dracula, over and over, Heath Goth will be revived.

ps this is pumpkin pie icecream and it’s insane.

We just got a transformation submission that will be posted on Tuesday :) Send them in and you will be featured on our blog (75k followers) the upcoming Tuesday! I love seeing all of your inspiring transformations :)

This weekend I made a quick weekend trip away with my little brother to Duke University! He wanted to visit the campus & my Virginia Tech Hokies we’re playing them in a football game that weekend, so it was a win-win.

We enjoyed walking around the campus (I’ll admit, it was beautiful.) The weather was great, sunny & breezy & not too too hot.

But as luck would have it, I ended up with a bad…

I’ve decided to really focus on living my life, day by day, with more intent. And when writing down what I wanted my intentions for this new month to be, I realized there was sort of a theme: A little less talk, a lot more action.

I always tell myself I will put more time and energy (what little of both I have left in my week) toward my writing, my blog and my efforts to create a community for…

Telling Your New Supervisor About Your Chronic Illness or Condition

One thing I have always been nervous about when starting a new job is telling my new supervisor that I have chronic health conditions. It’s a conversation that is necessary but that can cause people to feel uneasy or nervous.

I always worry that my supervisor may be uneasy about my situation and that they themselves will worry about my ability to perform my duties. With a health conditions that…

Eau Palm Beachis a wellness hotel that sits beachside an hour away from Miami. The former Ritz Carlton property got revamped with famed interior designer Johnathan Adler’s hands and made it to the Forbes list for best luxury hotels. This pet-friendly hidden gem has cruelty-free beauty products in rooms, sustainable and recyclable coffee, beachside yoga and meditation, intention setting before a spa service and the best handmade vegetarian burgers as well as fresh seafood. The hotel is also extremely eco-friendly marking all turtle nests and turning off lights near the beach for nesting season. After being quarantined for so long, I finally made my first solo trip with my pup and it brought me back to life. Most people don’t like to travel alone but this is the kinda of place that makes easy to especially if you’re single. Sometimes, we need to reconnect with ourselves after all, it’s good to get to know oneself when traveling.  I packed my journal, a book, some bikinis, hats, a pajama, sunscreen, sandals and some workout clothes. It was all I needed. Here’s what my trip looked like:

Day 1: I checked in around 3p.m. and walked my pup around the property (there’s a doggy station which makes it easy) before heading to the beach to sit under an umbrella and read my book.

I took some selfies on there and then headed to the restaurant looking over the ocean to order some food and a drink. I ordered the tuna tartare and a spicy watermelon margarita. It was a spicy combo together. Beware the drink although delicious is definitely strong.

This is the restaurant below and a nice place to watch the sunset.

I finished the day by ordering room service. Elmo and I split the Wagyu burger and we went for an evening stroll around the property and watched a movie.

Day 2: I woke up at 5 a.m. made coffee in my room, took Elmo for a 30 minute walk around the property, and then headed to a sunrise private yoga and meditation class at 7 a.m. The class was really relaxing and had a gentle flow. Afterwards, I headed to breakfast (wait till you try the home-made butter here.) and then back to my room to get ready for a quick dip at the beach.

It was a New Moon (the beginning of a new lunar cycle) so I decided to set some intentions by the water and use seashells to charge instead of crystals which felt amazing. I highly recommend. You’ll feel tingles across your arm and an incredible sense of grounding.

After the beach, it was time for a spa experience. I booked the Royal Treatment which combines reflexology (my favorite), neck, shoulders and hand massage with a scrub and mask. It was deeply healing and relaxing. The Spa is really spacious with lots of amenities and resting areas like below.

This is where you set an intention/ make a wish before your treatment using a candle and placing it in the water.

I wrapped up the day by going to the pool before heading to dinner.

Then grabbed Elmo for another evening stroll. We sat on beach chairs watching the sunset.

The next day was check out which is at 12p.m. It gave me enough time to go back to the beach one last time before driving back home. If you live in Miami or visit Miami, Eau Palm Beach is one hidden gem, I highly recommend visiting.

Since being self-quarantined the last 6 months, I’ve had a huge desire to work with flowers and fill up my space with them. I’ve always been a plant lady, but I’m understanding what “flower power” means in a whole new light. I wanted to know why the sudden fixation on fresh cut aromatic bursting buds so I decided to start researching and  plug in my reiki certification background to it.

Here’s the surprising discovering, I made on how flowers can help us:

1.Flowers improve our emotional health- they have the power to uplift your energy, bring calm and peace. During quarantine, this is major. They are said to trigger happy brain chemicals like dopamine. Feeling sluggish, unmotivated or anxious? Get some flowers. It will change your mood.  One of the places I like to go shop flowers is Berkley Florist Supply.

2.Flowers have healing powers that’s why we gift them to the sick or when someone is sad. It’s been a ride of emotions for so many of us during quarantine and flowers can really help us build our immune system and heal.

3.Flowers help balance our chakras. The color of the flower you are drawn to connects with your chakra and works to empower it. Pay attention to the colors you are drawn to. It can say a lot about your chakras. For example if you are drawn to pink flowers, that connects with your heart chakra and self-love.  (Purple flowers are crown chakra and needing to connect with your faith more, dark blue flowers are about desiring more clarity, light blue flowers deal with speaking your truth and finding it, yellow flowers tie us to inner strength and confidence while orange flowers are about tapping into your creativity and pleasure in sex. Lastly, red flowers motivate us to feel grounded, safe and financially secure.

3.Flowers help us sleep better. For restful sleep, place some flowers in your room, Baby’s Breath for everlasting love, lavender for relaxation and white mums for angelic pure light are some favorites. Trader Joe’s has some great dried lavender which smells wonderful. If you want to use roses, that works too as long as they don’t have thorns. It’s considered bad energy to bring anything with thorns or prickly into your home.

4. Flowers improve our concentration and memory. They are said to help activate and exercise parts of the brain with memory.Since most of us are working from home these days, flowers can help you stay creative, successful and focused at work. Place some on your work desk and you’ll instantly notice the change.

5.Flowers are pretty and make us smile. Beautiful things like flowers brighten up any room and make us smile. When we smile that lifts our energy. Flowers are also a way to lift energy in a space and create good flow. Who doesn’t like looking at something gorgeous right when they wake up?
