How Covid 19 brought out my Kitchen Witchery and Healing Powers.

Me and my husband are on day 8 of isolation. The dreaded delta variant entered my home on Sept 11th 2021. It affected me like the common cold but my husband has moderate covid that can quickly turn severe. He couldn’t breathe he wouldn’t eat and he could barely stay awake for more then a few hours. His fever was 103 for 5 days and I’m happy to report today is the first day he didn’t need medication to bring down his fever. I thought I would share some of the Kitchen Witchery and Healing potions and herbs that my ancestors whispered in my ear in my moments of high desperation and anxiety.

Healing Teas

#1 Lemon and Ginger with a bit of Honey

#2 Rosehips, Elderberries, Cinnamon and Orange Peel

#3 Green tea with Eucalyptus Leaves

Inhalation Steam Therapies

For this you will need a pot and bring the ingredients to a boil cover the person with a towel over their head to avoid letting the steam out and let them breathe interchangeably through the mouth and nose for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this 3 times a day being careful not to burn yourself.

Method #1 bring to a boil 2 cubes of camphor you can also add vicks vapor rub if you don’t have camphor. Once it’s boiling remove from stove and add 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Serve to sick person to inhale.

Method 2# add grinded garlic 1 whole onion, fresh orange peel, and sea salt you can also add vicks vapor rub if u wish to do so bring to a boil and inhale steam.

Healing Spell Incantation

Power of wind

Strength of the trees

Energy of the earth

Salts of the sea

I call upon you to keep me well and strong. Fill me with health so I can be myself. With harm to none Ashe.

Non magical home remedies:

I’m not a fan of tylenol and I try to avoid it as much as possible but with covid it’s a must have to bring down fever. I used the extra strength pills.

If you don’t have an ice pack you can use a small wet towel and put it in the freezer for 1 min. Use it on forehead to bring down fever. Don’t leave the towel in the freezer for more then 1 min!!! You don’t want freezer burns.

Also jello, unflavored pediyalite, prebiotic yogurt drinks and victims D, B, and Zinc will become your best friends.

*Please note this is my experience with covid 19 and the herbal remedies that worked for me I am not claiming to be a doctor if you are experiencing emergency symptoms like shortness of breathe please seek emergency care immediately.

I was recently told that I have PCOS and this book has been really helpful on my Healing Sacral Journey! This is a great book with alot of herbal remedies! Highly recommend for the witchy spiritual woman dealing with reproductive issues, hormonal imbalances and other issues. Of course always consult your doctor before using herbs as sacred medicine

Both the Ancient Greeks and Pagans used Oregano in their wedding ceremonies (Greek as a wreath on the head, Pagans in the hand tying). The famous Hippocrates used oregano as an antiseptic and for stomach conditions. Oregano is one of the rare herbs that tastes better dried than it does fresh.

Plant Tips : It grows will in the shade. Rich soils and recent flowering will reduce the potency. It like a Ph of 6.8. Replace the plants every four years to prevent them getting too straggly. Warning : Like all Marjoram’s it likes to hybridise with other species, if you purchase seeds and the results seem bland and flavourless then it’s likely to not be true Origanum vulgare.

- if you choose to include a sigil, write it now onto any piece of paper and place it on top to burn as well. once done, sip the water in your shells (if your version is edible, if not then pour it over your hands or water plants with it).

- sit and relax into your spell for as long as you need before blowing out your candles and tidying up.

happy mother’s day to all mothers and mother figures alike! although not glittery, here are a few things which represent my own mother:

|The Empress| “The Empress is full of creative energy. She stands for all the female qualities in motion.“ |Mint| my favorite in our herb garden when i was growing up. we ate the leaves, used them in teas, and rubbed them in our palms to cure stuffy noses. |Chicago Peace Roses| it started out small in our yard and my mum was convinced it wouldn’t grow in the heat. every day i would ask it to grow for her when i watered it. one day, it finally did and it’s been flourishing in the yard ever since. |Bay Leaves| we wrote wishes on bay leaves during hard times and burned them together. i’ll never forget how quickly she ran to the cabinet and grabbed a decorative candle off the table the first time we did it. |Aquamarine| my mother is a 4th generation Piscean woman, making me the 5th Pisces in line on my maternal side. we share a very deep bond that sometimes seems to transcend this world.

Achillea millefolium
, known commonly as yarrow or common yarrow, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Asia, Europe, and North America. In New Mexico and southern Colorado, it is called plumajillo (Spanish for ‘little feather’) from its leaf shape and texture. In antiquity, yarrow was known as herbal militaris, for its use in staunching the flow of blood from wounds. Other common names for this species include gordaldo, nosebleed plant, old man’s pepper, devil’s nettle, sanguinary, milfoil, soldier’s woundwort,thousand-leaf,andthousand-seal.

WARNING: Some people will react with allergic reaction to common yarrow, even if they only touched the leaf or flowers. People with such reaction should NEVER use common yarrow, not even in combination with other herbs.

Parts used in herbal medicine:

  • blossom
  • leaf

Active ingredients:

  • etheric oils
  • bitter substances
  • tannins
  • flavonoids
  • silicic acid
  • sesquiterpene
  • potassium

The healing effects:

Essential oils soothe intestinal cramping, abdominal pain and stop inflammation. The flavanoids have an antibiotic effect. Salicylic acid relieves pain. Sesquiterpenes and potassium prevent oedema formation.

Uses:

Tea- helps with indigestion, intestinal cramping (caused by overeating or menstruation). This tea will also prevent edema formation, which might bring relief to people with arthritis.

Compress/wrap - A compress or wrap with yarrow speeds up the healing of minor burns and open wounds .

Baths- Ahip bath can be taken for haemorrhoids and a foot bath would promote good circulation and help prevent vein disorders. A bath can bring relief with arthritis and neuralgia.

Recipes

Tea:
Pour a cup of water (250 ml) over 1 teaspoon yarrow, let simmer for about 10 minutes and strain the tea. Drink no more than two cups per day. An yarrow treatment course lasts six weeks and must be interrupted then for 4 weeks.

Tea blend for better blood circulation:

Mix 2 teaspoons of yarrow with 1 teaspoon of hawthorn. Pour ¼ litre of boiling water. Let it brew for 15 minutes and strain the tea. Drink lukewarm. Just like yarrow treatment, use this only for 6 weeks and stop for 4 weeks again.

Compress:

Pour half a liter of boiling water on a handful of yarrow. Soak a cloth or muslin in the hot infusion and put on the wound.

Bath:

For a hipbath or footbath, use a half litre of boiling water on a handful duizenblad and let it stand a few hours. Strain the infusion and pour in hot bath water.
For a normal bath make one litre of infusion and 2 handful of the herb.

Disclaimer: The stones and herbs are merely helping with recovery or preventing. As it’s no medicine, it will not always help. In doubt ALWAYS contact a doctor.
