Pro tip… telling someone (me) to calm down when they’re relatively calm will, in fact, not calm them down…

I always feel guilty that I dont reach out to past friends… but then I realize it’s a two way street, I’m not solely responsible to keep a relationship alive.

i just want to s/o to my 69 YO therapist…
so i am very obviously her first enby client because when i came out to her as non-binary, she asked me to forgive her for her not knowing what it was and if i didn’t mind explaining what that meant, which i happily did
that was several sessions ago - like about a month and a half now.
and here are some things she has done so far for me as a client since coming out (which blows me away tbh because remember SHE’S FUCKING 69 so if she’s getting it then i don’t want to hear the BS excuse that i hear from some people of ‘well people of that generation are too old so they just can’t understand’ NO THEY ABSOLUTELY CANsome of them just DON’T):
- she didn’t want to take up session space by me explaining for too long what being non-binary was, and told me she could educate herself after session, and instead asked how my experience was and if i was getting the proper support i needed in that experience
- came back after educating herself with like jafieowjfoeiwf FIVE different websites of online support groups just in case i needed them or felt too awkward going in person
- has corrected herself every time she’s accidentally referred to me as 'she,’ 'her,’ 'girl’ etc., which is one of the biggest things i am always told: 'old people can’t learn that’ LIKE SHUT UP TALK TO MY THERAPIST ABOUT IT THEY OBVIOUSLY CAN
- HAS MADE UP A LISTOFALTERNATIVE FILLER-NAMES TO USE INSTEAD OF LIKE’GIRL,’ 'GIRLFRIEND,’ ETC. (you know, like when you would say to someone who identifies as female, 'right on girlfriend’) YEAH WELL SHE HAS COME UP WITH HER OWN (some of these are: 'pal-friend,’ sometimes simply - 'friend’ MY HEART GUYS)
she’s just like. all around wonderful and i’m very grateful for her. i could go on forever but bless you, [redacted], you’re a wonderful therapist and i’m grateful for you
