I’m not sure how many of you actually remember this faery and the story behind it, so I’ll share it again now that it’s finally finished. ✨
I was inspired by a painting painted by my friend @aelinlaer . Something about its dark and eerie, yet beautiful face caught my attention, and I had to try and recreate it. Is it benevolent or malevolent, this faery of mine? I have no idea… They are not to be trusted anyway, regardless of their nature. Don’t let their sparkly appearance and magical gifts deceive you. ✨ But if you wish to adopt this one, visit my Etsy shop. ✨

These two Dryad sisters are now available on @etsy (link is in my bio). They are decorated with various crystal beads (green for spring and orange for autumn) and will definitely make any home more faery and magical.
Spring Dryad wall decor: Lodolite (the main stone), moss agate, tiger’s eye, green aventurine, african turquoise.

Autumn Dryad wall decor: Carnelian (the main stone), red aventurine, tiger’s eye, red coral, red jasper.
For those who haven’t seen my stories and my recent post related to these: this is my new project simply called “Pagan wall decors”. Each wall hanging is OOAK, inspired by faeries and pagan goddesses, and decorated with beautiful crystals. ✨

@yuno.okumura took so many beautiful photos of this Moon Goddess wall decor I made for her and I can’t wait to show you all of them… This is my new “special offer” project in addition to my pendants. I’ve already made two more which I’ll share to my story feed, but they are still -wip-.✨ I have to admit I’m having so much fun making them and am feeling very inspired.. I’ve also made four Elvish pendants which will be available soon. They are all different but with two recurring elements: Elvish trees and crescent moons. And of course, sparkly Czech glass beads. ✨

Out of context, the second picture may not make sense. Let’s say for now, that it is important he wear a disguise when out in public….

Based on some actual experiences

- When a stranger comes to your apartment door on May day morning asking to borrow some butter or milk, don’t lend any…all your luck will go with it. Never give any stranger a light for their cigarette on May day either - giving out fire is giving away your luck as well.

- When you are walking at night and you hear music, no matter how beautiful, or voices inviting you to join them don’t acknowledge that you can hear them and turn back towards home.

- When you are out walking at night and you hear the sound of horses or hounds or riders find shelter indoors or in your car quickly. The Wild Hunt (we call them Ghost Riders in America) is mercurial and if it’s the Slua Sí passing by they will do you harm if they can.

- Never run from the Fair Folk, if you see Fairy hounds or anything uncanny that frightens you. Running is what prey does and you do not want to be prey. Don’t acknowledge seeing them, if possible, but leave as quickly as you can.

- If you are being pixy-led, if you have lost your way in familiar territory, turn your socks or coat outside in or laugh and joke about how much fun you are having. this will free you from the enchantment.

- Never speak ill of the Good Neighbours aloud, nor express disbelief in them. They take insults badly and if they happen to be nearby and hear you they may respond. You will not enjoy their reaction.

P.S. If you’d like to see more of my crochet and amigurumi projects please “like” my Facebook crochet page “Yarn Witch”! All likes and shares of my posts/photos are greatly appreciated! My partner and I have just moved to be closer to family and medical services for my chronic illness and pain conditions, and the move put us into debt. I’m unable to work due to my health, but I’m hoping I can make a little bit selling my crochet work to ease the burden. xo

I’m not feeling how this one is turning out so I’ll probably try again from scratch.

How it goes sometimes.

Pink roses and Luna Moths - Completed

Color corrected, I ended up not liking how saturated the colors came out. I’ll post the original at a later date.

My boyfriend found this landscape print (unfortunately no artist named on it) in the trash at his work so I made it my own ❤️

                    (I. The Faeries live in a world not unlike our own, beside us, below us, always.)

Samantha and I lived in the middle of nowhere. Literally, there was a general store and a hairdresser and a post office and a bar in town, and, like, that was basically it? No fucking clue how the hairdresser kept in business when all her customers were farmers. So, like, there was shit all to do, so we made our own fun, yeah? Between our families we had, like, ten acres of land, and most of it’s crops, but there was a forest bordering our west side, so we went and dicked around in there a lot.

(II. When the Faeries look upon this world, there is no stopping their magic.)

So, Samantha was running ahead of me, red hair to the wind. She always was quicker, and with me on my period, it just wasn’t a fair matchup at all. “Hey, wait - wait up! Why do you always have to get so far ahead?”

“You will /not/ believe what I’ve found in here,” Samantha called back, not slowing down even a little. “You’ve just gotta come and see!”

“Jesus fucking Christ, Sam, just give me a minute!”

(III. But there are rules which even the Fae obey.)

I eventually caught up to her, knelt at the base of a tree which looked like it was alive back when the King of England was still the ruler of basically everything. There was a great hollow inside, even big enough for someone like me to fit.

“Go on, go inside,” Samantha said, grinning from ear to ear.

“Why the fuck do I want to crawl inside some moldy old tree?”

“Just do it!”

“Ugh, okay, fine,” I got to my knees, crawled inside. The air smelt rancid, and I’m pretty sure I felt a spider crawling on my arm. Sam tossed a torch in after me, and I flicked it on.

(IV. Desperate men, for instance, may beseech the Faeries with a gift of blood.)

There were patterns drawn on the inside of the tree. I shone the light up the hollow trunk - they went up, and up, and up, further than I could have reached even if I was able to stand up properly.

“Holy shit,” I said.

“You’re telling me,” Sam replied.

“And you’re sure your skinny arse didn’t scrawl these in yourself?”

“I am /way/ too short to do that.” And she was right, as much as I wanted to pin this on her. “So, like -”

                    (V. But to attract the attention of the Fae, for most, is tantamount to death.)

She must have said something, but her words, suddenly, sounded like they were underwater. Distantly, I heard the strings of an orchestra.

“-lieve me if I’d told you,” Samantha fades back in, after a moment. I lean against the back of the trunk, bringing a hand up to run through my hair.

“Shut up a second,” I say, sounding so unsettled that Sam actually does. “Didn’t you hear that?”

“Hear what? You’re crazy, Jen. There’s nothing–”

She faded out again, and this time my sight clouded, too. “Sam? Sam!” I cried out, trying to feel the entrance and pull myself out. There was something in the wood, or something, like – like maybe a mushroom had sent out spores and it was making me crazy? That sounded right. I had to get out of there.

I found the lip of the trunk, and tugged myself out, tumbling to the ground. The strings in the background were getting clearer, louder. A hallucination? It had to be. It didn’t sound like any of the symphonies my mother liked to put on while she was doing her work. There was just something wrong to them, like someone had heard violin music and tried to mimic it without truly understanding what a violin was, or how music worked at all.

Noise. That’s the word. It was all just noise. Pretty noise, but not music at all.

“Sam,” I said, my voice trembling more than I’d like, “I’m really freaking out here, and I just - I need some help, like, please, I’m not fucking kidding here.”

At first I thought my vision wasn’t getting better at all, but I realised that it was resolving - I was just looking into a bright-arse light. There were greens and browns, blurry hints of the forest, and no sign of Samantha at all.

“Hello, Jenny,” said the light, scratchy-voiced and lilting. “We have heard your plea. We are listening.”

(VI. Be clear, be concise, and pray to your Gods when they cannot hear you.)

faeries scamper among us in the autumn time, and being on their bad side is never a good thing. this ritual is for those desiring a good rapport with their local faeries— perhaps they’ll return the favor by sparing you from their mischief, or sprinkle some good luck and blessings along your path.

☾ a packet of wildflower seeds

☾ a handful of acorn tops or walnut shells

☾ a small amount of wine

☾ a handful of fresh berries

find a secluded natural area, and look for a small flat clearing on the ground to place your materials.

on the ground, arrange the acorn tops/walnut shells into a circle, pouring a dash of wine in each. place the berries in this circle, making a perfect faerie feast. as you do this, whisper, “faeries of the earth, i offer you this food and drink in an act of friendship.”

lastly, sprinkle the wildflower seeds in a large circle on the outer perimeter of the feast. faeries will be receptive to someone seeking to help life flourish in their woods and meadows. as you do this, whisper, “faeries of the earth, i plant these flowers to honor you and nourish your home.”

leave these offerings and return home, as the fae might be bashful and are waiting for solitude to enjoy their feast.
