TLTDW is great, and I love how the story intertwines with how the characters act. I also like that they put cooking into it. The book is great, the movie is okay, the video game is worth playing if you like bugs. And crashes. But that’s beside the point. The umbrella their clothes line put out is pretty good, and holds up to weather.

high key freaking out coz on twitter Thomas himself replied to this and said he liked my art style (he’s seen my stuff before but usually only the realistic pieces) and it meant a lot because ive been spending the better part of two years trying to come up with my own distinct style and ive finallyfelt like im kinda getting there, but a lot of the time people only react to my realism with out really understanding that stylized art can be just as hard.. so Thomas saying he liked my style specifically was a big deal to me :)
and with these last several months ive been drawing a lot of sanders sides fanart exclusively, and my art style has greatly improved because of that, and i wouldn’t have gotten here without the unbelievable support ive gotten from all of you, (i know i dont really have a lot of followers compared to other people, but this is further than i ever thought i would get). before drawing for this fandom, i’d get maybe 10 or 25 notes tops, if i was lucky. with you guys, a lot of my peices make it to over 500, and several over 1000. this is by far the most supportive fandom i have ever been apart of. thank you all so much and i doubt anyone will see this but i love yall anyway
Defence Against the Dark Arts • dɪˈfɛns|əˈɡɛnst|ðə|dɑːk|ɑːtsɛ • The study and teaching of how to defend against dark: magic; spells; curses or animals.
v tired of people simply portraying or perceiving well-written and complete character arcs considering a character’s context, natural progression, plot line everything for the majority of the fandom or people to write it off, criticise it immediately or not take the time to understand it purely because it doesn’t align with their fantasy.
It’s a question that many people have been asking themselves lately. Am I special? Does the world revolve around me? If you’re like me, then you’re thinking the answer is no. Maybe a few tiktok “put a finger down: main character edition” videos have you feeling like you’re not. Or you’ve realized your best friend is really the one with the spotlight. Some people just don’t fit the description of what we call being the main character.
Well first, we can argue that we’re each the main character in our own story. And that’s perfectly true. Every person is living, growing, and experiencing life in a way that no one else is. Everyone has their own story to tell, starring themselves.
But an equally valid way of thinking of it, is this:
Maybe you just aren’t the main character.
And really, that’s fine. Because there’s so many equally important characters in a story, who can bring even more to the table than the main character. AND, main character does NOT equal favorite character. In fact, of all the shows, movies, and books you fan over, in how many of those stories is the main character your favorite? I’m guessing not many. In many cases, the front-and-center character is not the one everyone is in love with. Elena Gilbert from TVD is hardly an audience favorite compared to the others. How many people watching Avatar say Aang is their favorite? Even Harry Potter is overlooked in favor of his friends.
The point is, the fan-favorite character is usually NOT the main character, for whatever reason. So who is?
Most of our favorites are actually secondary characters, who are not in the titular role but offer even more to the story by way of intelligence, humor, wit, friendship, interesting story-lines, relatability, etc…
Ok, still not sure? Let’s look at some non main characters who have become highly integral parts to the story, maybe even moreso than the main characters themselves simply by possessing the traits I’ve mentioned:
so much more but I’m really tired so that’s all I will type out right now. But do you think any less of these characters because they’re not the “main character?” Does it make them any less significant? Don’t think so.
Just because you don’t relate to the Harry Potters or the Bella Swans, doesn’t mean your story is any less important.
The important part is that you’re the character you would want to see yourself as. Be that person.
And if anyone with main character syndrome picks on you, kindly remind them that Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way was also a main character :)
I’m confident that if I were to roleplay a popular canon character I would have a really popular blog. But I’m just not as into the fandoms that are big on tumblr. It’s frustrating at times.
I’ve ended up joining fandoms through their RP communities. There were some I’d never even heard of until a blog from the fandom followed me. After some threads, I got really interested in the world and the characters and started looking into them.
