FUN FACT:  While it is said in the film that Quasimodo is named such because it means “half-formed,” this is not the case in the original novel. There, Quasimodo is the Italian name of the holiday in which the character was left on the steps of Notre Dame.

SIMBAfromThe Lion King(1994)

VOICE ACTORS:  Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Young- Speaking), Jason Weaver (Young - Singing), Matthew Broderick (Adult - Speaking), & Joseph Williams (Adult - Singing)

At the time of The Lion King’s release, he was most known for his role as Randy Taylor, Tim Allen’s son, in Home Improvement. He has worked with Disney multiple times since providing his voice for Young Simba. Born in 1962, Matthew Broderick has had an extensive career on both the stage and screen. His first major acting role was in a workshop of Horton Foote’s On Valentine’s Day, in which he acted opposite his father. He holds the record for youngest person to ever win the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play, which he won at only 21 years old for his performance in Brighton Beach Memoirs. He also won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 1995. Broderick became a household name, however, for his starring role as the title character in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in 1985, as well as some of his other films including The Cable Guy andManchester By the Sea. After Simba, he was considered for many other Disney voice roles like Buzz Lightyear, Mike Wazowski, and Chicken Little, and while he didn’t get those, he has given his voice to other animated films such as Bee Movie, The Tale of Despereaux, andThe Thief and the Cobbler. He also reprised his role as Simba for all of the sequels. He married actress Sarah Jessica Parker in 1997, and in 2006 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. FUN FACT:  Simba was the first animated Disney character to have a villain as a biological relative. He would be followed by Hercules and Elsa & Anna in Frozen II.

Your Fave MIGHT Be Catholic: Zakuro Fujiwara

Known for: One of the main characters of the manga series Tokyo Mew Mew, as well as the anime series of the same name. She is the fifth girl to join the Mew Mew team, uses a whip as her main weapon, & her DNA is merged with that of a wolf. Of the main characters, she is the most mature & self-confident of the group, & is seen as the team’s older sister figure. She is also very smart & quick to protect others, though she is more independent & introverted than the others. Her backstory also makes it clear that she went to very prestigious schools, & it’s even implied that she went to the United States for a time, & because her parents were often too busy, she would end up having to care for herself. Regardless, she is still a valuable member of the team & does all that she can to make things better.

Why I say MIGHT as opposed to IS: The original manga & anime make it very clear that Zakuro is a practicing Christian - such details are made clear by the silver cross pendant she wears on her neck, as well as her whip handle resembling a cross (seen above in the bottom image in the picture set). The specific denomination of Christianity is not really specified, but it’s most likely another case of the trope “Anime Catholicism”. Unfortunately, if you’re only familiar with the English dub made by the dubbing company 4Kids titled Mew Mew Power (in this series, she was renamed Renée Roberts), none of these details will be featured, as 4Kids censored out all religious references to appeal to as wide of an audience in the United States as possible. Actions like this are one of many reasons why 4Kids is disliked by most anime fans. Regardless, the original Japanese mangas & anime feature details that show that Zakuro is religious & are clearly Christian, & thus possible lean towards Catholicism.

If this post is wrong: If this post is wrong & Tokyo Mew Mew creators Reiko Yoshida & Mia Ikumi have stated in a reliable source that Zakuro’s Christian beliefs are from a different denomination, then please politely inform me in an ask & I’ll have this post changed right away.

Your Fave MIGHT Be Catholic: Miguel Rivera

Known for: Main character of Coco, the beloved animated film by Pixar Animation Studios centered around Dia de Los Muertos. He is a child who aspires to be a great musician just like the famed musician & singer Ernesto De La Cruz, but his family straight up forbids any kinds of music & insists he follow in their shoe making business. On the night of Dia de Los Muertos (a.k.a. “Day of the Dead”), he tries to steal a guitar from Ernesto De La Cruz’s memorial, & thus he is cursed & stuck in the Land of the Dead. Only a blessing from his deceased family can bring him back to the Land of the Living, but their oppressive ban on music forces Miguel to try & receive a blessing from Ernesto De La Cruz. Thus, he teams up with the charming former musician Héctor & his dog Dante to get to De La Cruz’s mansion party to receive his blessing. Miguel is a good child who loves his family (being especially close to his great grandmother, Mama Coco), but his passion for music causes conflict with the other members of his family, & it’s over the course of the film where he learns why his family hates music. *SPOILERS* It’s also through his adventures where he learns where his passion for music comes from - he learns that Héctor is his true great great grandfather, that he is the real musical genius behind Ernesto De La Cruz’s music, & uses music to help revive Mama Coco’s fading memories to help save Héctor from fading away forever as well as make amends with his family. *SPOILERS*

Why I say MIGHT as opposed to IS: Coco is a very interesting film to discuss, & with the topic of religion like this blog explores, this instance gets very confusing. On the one hand, a cross can be seen hanging from the wall in Mama Coco’s room, which can be seen here, & thus indicates that the Rivera family is very religious. Adding to this, the dominant religion of Mexico (the film’s setting) is Roman Catholicism, which makes the case stronger. In the film itself, Miguel even admits that initially he thought the traditions described in Dia de Los Muertos were make believe “like vitamins”, but after seeing the afterlife itself, it’s clear that he is certainly a believer. This can be seen in a clip found here. Last, & most importantly, the film makes it very VERY clear that there is an afterlife, & one of the main fundamental beliefs of Catholicism & all of Christianity in general is that there’s an afterlife after we die. But now this is where things get confusing…. Despite the film making it clear the afterlife is real, The Land of the Dead is not the same afterlife as described in Catholic doctrine - i.e. Heaven, Hell, & Purgatory. It seems to be based on traditional Mexican culture, which most likely dates back to before Christianity arrived in Mexico, & thus it’s sort of contradictory with the current religious beliefs. The film itself doesn’t explore this at all, & so we don’t really know how exactly the current religious beliefs work with regards to the Land of the Dead, which is based on memories & the importance of remembering our loved ones & who we are (which again, is based on real Mexican traditions). So, to conclude, it’s really hard to tell if the Rivera family is a loyal Catholic family, or if at the end of the film they practice a new religion based on the Land of the Dead.

(On a separate note: the earlier animated Dia de Los Muertos film The Book of Life has a very similar problem to Coco - Catholic nuns are seen as recurring extras in the film’s setting, but then they establish that there are three deities that exist: La Muerta the goddess who runs The Land of the Remembered, Xibalba the god who runs The Land of the Forgotten, & The Candle Maker who binds the universe together & owns the titular book. It’s arguably even more confusing, as Catholic beliefs make it super crystal clear that there is only ONE God, & yet that film shows Catholicism existing in a mythology with three deities.)

If this post is wrong: If this post is wrong & director Lee Unkrich or anyone else from Pixar Animation Studios have stated that the religious beliefs of Coco are ONLY surrounded around the lore involving the Land of the Dead, then please let me know in a polite ask, & I will have this post altered right away.

things I’m tired of on tv shows:

~ the white man always being the hero

~ few women-only scenes when a majority of the show is made up of men-only scenes

~ cheap “diversity” aka having a leading white cishet man, an emotional white woman, and poc on the main team with minor roles and stereotyped personalities, and one gay couple.

~ recycled plot lines. for example, death in paradise always has the authoritive white man having a crush on the a woman working below him

Nagisa Aragaki Should Have Been The Main Character of Hanebado! (はねバド!)

I made this video expressing why I feel Aragaki should have been the protagonist and why I prefer her over Ayano as a protagonist. I hope you enjoy the video. Let me know what you think cuz I worked hard on this video.

Turning Your Bedroom Into a Sanctuary

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, a quiet retreat for you to escape and feel safe at all times. It should be a place where you unwind after a busy day at the office; a room to be alone and focus on your thoughts.

Your bedroom should aim to be a comfortable, calming place you look forward to resting after a long day. If you want to upgrade the energy in your sleep area, check out these tips on how to turn your bedroom into a sanctuary that you’ll never want to leave.

Indulge Your Senses

Turn your bedroom into a sanctuary is by creating a sensory experience. The easiest way to do this is through your sense of smell. Grab your most delicious candle or diffuse your favourite essential oils to help set the right tone.

Fill up the room with soft, plushy materials, including rugs, pillows, and throw blankets, for some extra warmth and coziness.

Consider including a small area rug around your bed. This way, your toes have something soft and cozy to land on in the morning, just as soon as you wake up. Your feet will thank you!

Nature elements have a calming, meditative feel. perfect for your bedroom sanctuary.

Nature elements have a calming, meditative feel. perfect for your bedroom sanctuary.

And there are many creative ways these elements can be incorporated into your room to create a perfect bedroom sanctuary.

You can add potted plants or vases of fresh flowers, hang imagery of nature on the walls, or incorporate textured elements through bedding, rugs, or throw blankets.

Let the Light In!

Harsh lights can instantly kill the mood you’re trying to set. So avoid using fluorescent bulbs that wash out any semblance of serenity. Instead, opt for soft or natural light to brighten up your bedroom.

Even small actions like opening a window (even for a little bit in winter times) can dramatically change the mood in your room to something calmer and more inviting.

Ways to Overcome Low self esteem Part 2

Hey loves! You are viewing part 2 of my “How to fix low self-esteem series” CLICK HERE to view part 1!

What is low self Esteem..?

Low self-esteem is caused by feelings of unworthiness or the feeling that we are far behind where we are supposed to be in life. How did we come to decide that we are not good enough? How did we come up with the “ideal self” that we do not seem to attain?

4.Practice Gratitude

Be grateful for what you already have, be it your health, your family and friends, your home, the food you eat every day. Don’t take these things for granted.

5.Make time for yourself

Time is the most valuable thing we have because it is the only thing that no money on earth could buy. Do not spend with the wrong people! Time is better spent alone than with people who don’t appreciate and value your company.

6.Do not tolerate mediocrity from anyone!

The main reasons people tolerate mediocrity & bad behaviour. Is either because they view themselves as inferior based on superficialities or because they need validation from that person. People will only treat you the way you allow them to, so the way people treat you is your responsibility.

randombookthoughtss:

I absolutely hate it when character a is clearly in love with and willing to kill for character b, but character b is like, nah he doesn’t love me. Like bitch, yes he does! How can you be so stupid?!

And what’s worse is when character a is like I don’t deserve character b’s love. When they’re like my past sins make me unworthy. Haha. No. She’s been talking about your abs, the curve of your jaw, and the glint in your eye for the last 300 pages. You really think she cares about your tragic past?

I absolutely hate it when character a is clearly in love with and willing to kill for character b, but character b is like, nah he doesn’t love me. Like bitch, yes he does! How can you be so stupid?!

It’s a question that many people have been asking themselves lately. Am I special? Does the world revolve around me? If you’re like me, then you’re thinking the answer is no. Maybe a few tiktok “put a finger down: main character edition” videos have you feeling like you’re not. Or you’ve realized your best friend is really the one with the spotlight. Some people just don’t fit the description of what we call being the main character.

Well first, we can argue that we’re each the main character in our own story. And that’s perfectly true. Every person is living, growing, and experiencing life in a way that no one else is. Everyone has their own story to tell, starring themselves.

But an equally valid way of thinking of it, is this:

Maybe you just aren’t the main character.

And really, that’s fine. Because there’s so many equally important characters in a story, who can bring even more to the table than the main character. AND, main character does NOT equal favorite character. In fact, of all the shows, movies, and books you fan over, in how many of those stories is the main character your favorite? I’m guessing not many. In many cases, the front-and-center character is not the one everyone is in love with. Elena Gilbert from TVD is hardly an audience favorite compared to the others. How many people watching Avatar say Aang is their favorite? Even Harry Potter is overlooked in favor of his friends.

The point is, the fan-favorite character is usually NOT the main character, for whatever reason. So who is?

Most of our favorites are actually secondary characters, who are not in the titular role but offer even more to the story by way of intelligence, humor, wit, friendship, interesting story-lines, relatability, etc…

Ok, still not sure? Let’s look at some non main characters who have become highly integral parts to the story, maybe even moreso than the main characters themselves simply by possessing the traits I’ve mentioned:

Fred&George&Draco&Castiel&SpencerReid&JJ&PenelopeGarcia&Jaskier&Katara&Sokka&Toph&Zuko&Azula&Hermione&SteveHarrington&BuckyBarnes&Loki&EliCardashyan&HarleyQuinn&PhilCoulson&Shuri&DustinHenderson&RonWeasley&Enzo&Bonnie&Yennifer&WandaMaximoff&SamWilson&&&

so much more but I’m really tired so that’s all I will type out right now. But do you think any less of these characters because they’re not the “main character?” Does it make them any less significant? Don’t think so.

Just because you don’t relate to the Harry Potters or the Bella Swans, doesn’t mean your story is any less important.

The important part is that you’re the character you would want to see yourself as. Be that person.

And if anyone with main character syndrome picks on you, kindly remind them that Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way was also a main character :)

Had a dream last night about a game that didn’t exist, but like it was really interesting and I wanted to make fanart for it. But then I woke up and went oh shit it’s not real-

So I drew the two characters I remember most vividly

The smaller one in the back was the main character, very happy go lucky type, and mr. purple hair was the one everyone shipped him with? Also the instant favorite

For some reason the game had ps2 quality graphics (it was a recently made game), so it was all ugly, badly rendered polygons. It’s why both of the characters have tired looking faces it’s just what they looked like in game, and I remember people would get up in arms about *not* drawing it like the style of the game.

It’s also why main character has a white spot on his head, his hair didn’t render properly and left him with a weird white space in his head. The creators decided to just leave it because they couldn’t be bothered, but the fans took that as confirmation of that being part of his official design (even though none of the official art had the spot) and would attack people who left it out. The fandom, if you can’t tell, was kinda awful I think it might’ve been a big one from the vibes

As for purple boy, he apparently had a really good character, wish I could remember it but oh well. Anyway a large part of the fans hc-ed him as trans and during a special update that allowed you to take off purple boys jacket as a fun skin change for some reason if you took it off it fuckin blew up his chest area making it look like he had weird tits (understand it did not *at all* look like actual real tits more like someone stuck a log in his shirt) and even though the creators quickly removed that and said it was a glitch, as you might suspect, the fans took it as confirmation of his transness. Also it became a bit of a meme

The game style was a first person ?rpg? There wasn’t any normal combat, instead you had to solve puzzles to beat “enemies” and besides that you just went around and did things for people. The more you did the more you got to know people and their opinions on other characters, how they were relevant to the plot, etc.
