Things I’ve learned so far in my witchcraft practice:

  1. Your intuition is your best friend; better to be wrong and safe than right and silent.
  2. Your digestion knows when something is off.
  3. Not everyone has to believe you, and not everyone is worth telling.
  4. Divination is here to guide you, not to define you.
  5. Protection. Cleansing. Protection. Cleansing. Protection. Clea—
  6. When you get in your own head, you get in your own way.
  7. Magick is science, psychology, intention, and unknowns.
  8. Tools are only focuses; you are all you need.
  9. There is energy in everything; atoms are moving all around us, each working together to keep the universe from unravelling. How bold of us to assume we aren’t able to witness that energy.
  10. Ask for permission, not forgiveness; your sister may forgive, but the earth may not.
  11. Even if this is all bullshit (it isn’t, in my experience), it’s fun, and laughter is the best medicine.
  12. Aloe for burns and antibiotics for infections.
  13. “Let other men go to war; Protesilaus must love.”
  14. You don’t owe your time, energy, or resources to anyone else, but sharing is often rewarding.
  15. Some information is too valuable to give away; charge for the things you cherish; keep the things you need.
  16. Be respectful of everything. I mean everything.
  17. Research, research, research!
  18. Sometimes the aesthetic is half the fun.
  19. Your blood, your bones, your sweat, your tears; they are all deeply a part of you so long as you’re tied to your body. They belong to you for a while, but they’re on loan; use them wisely.
  20. Know your present place; know your potential; they are not the same thing.

i just watched a video of paramecium or blepharisma ( a single celled organism) disintegrating into nothing, fighting for survival and all i could think about was does that creature feel the panic too? The dream of being unconscious forever? Those little flailing flagellas, what are they holding onto? How lonely does that one microscopic organism feel? Why is it dying? What has drove it to this stage that it just goes erratic and disintegrates? What sort of stimulus had it perceived? Is it running? What is it running from? What motor synapse is firing into that little thing that makes it too much for it to bear? To sustain? Why its cell wall bursts? Instead of holding together why is it letting go?

Moreover, if it’s not conscious, it doesn’t realize it has ceased to exist where do we draw the line? Nematodes? Platyhelminthes? Aves? Mammals? Or it can feel itself drifting and dying? It just can’t decipher it? Because consciousness is just merely a learned behavior?

Why do i emphathize with this creature, is it the error in the phenomenon making it interesting or the capacity of human empathy?

I had SO much fun with my first Twitch stream last night that I know I’ll definitely be doing this again. Come chat and hang out with me, ask me questions about paganism and witchcraft, and maybe we can pull some cards.

Subtle Witchcraft Tips

(coming from a closeted witch of 3-4 years)

  • stitch sigils or runes into your clothing - use a thread that’s the same colour of the fabric for extra subtlety
  • use bandanas to veil
  • display certain items as if they’re just decorative - all of my crystals are on a shelf and when my family asks i just tell them i like crystals! they’ve now assumed i’m a geology nerd lol
  • look into tea magick! tea is such a powerful tool for witchcraft and simply stirring your tea with intention can be a form of magick
  • if you wear makeup, paint sigils on your face with your foundation or concealer before blending
  • similarly if you wear nail polish, paint sigils on your nails
  • use perfumes or body products with certain scents that correlate to certain meanings e.g my shower gel and body oil are both lavender scented
  • create a shoebox altar - this makes it small and easy to hide
  • household herbs and spices can easily be used in spells!!
  • remember that a pendulum doesn’t have to be a fancy crystal on a chain, any small weight on a string can work just as well
  • any basic candle can be used in spells
  • research the correspondences of wearing rings on certain fingers
  • i love doing kitchen magick!! it’s so easy to incorporate into everyday life without blatantly being a form of magick
  • house plants can be great in magick
  • i know i briefly mentioned sigils before but don’t underestimate how powerful sigils can be!!
  • create small spell jars that you could easily hide

and remember: your craft is uniquely your own. don’t let anyone tell you what is and isn’t required to be a valid witch. i’ve had to be subtle about my practice for years and it’s taken a while for me to realise that i’m just as much of a witch as someone who openly practices.

blessed be <3

✨Hey tumblr- this is Chi from the Sunset Circle✨

Here’s today’s full moon ritual lesson-

Full Moon Rituals

To start off I have a full moon oil recipe I’d like everyone to start off with. I recommend preparing this for your rituals tonight. (Optional)

Tools you will need-

▽ an empty essential oil bottle with a lid (preferably a dark glass bottle; brown, blue, green- this is to preserve the oils and it’s properties)

▽ Carrier oil (almond, coconut, grape seed, jojoba, rose hip seed, olive, avocado)

▽ Optional- funnel- unless your badass and can fill a bottle w/o one

▽ 13 drops of sandalwood essential oil

▽ 9 drops of vanilla extract or essential oil

▽ 3 drops of jasmine essential oil

▽ 1 drop of rose essential oil

Remember to constantly think of your intentions while making. Intention is KEY.

After creating your oil, store it in a dark place until 4:26pm (that’s when the moon is estimated to rise in PST) Once it’s 4:30ish bring your oil outside to be charge for about 30 minutes, bring it back inside at 5:00pm so you can use it tonight. You can use this oil to anoint your candles tonight. ( If anyone has any questions on how to properly anoint- ask in the #ontopic channel on our server or feel free to ask here)

Now that you have your oil prepared, I want you to do a gratitude ritual to give thanks for all the existing blessings, gifts, wisdom and experiences in your life. Acknowledge all the things you have manifested so far. If your intentions are still fresh you may only see little changes- but, the power of gratitude combined with the full moon will supercharge your manifestation energy!!

Now to start on your gratitude ritual!

Sit comfortably in your sacred space or a quiet place in nature. Spend a few minutes centering yourself by meditating, grousing, drawing, chanting or any other method that helps you.

In your journal, write a list of all the things you are grateful for.

Think of as many things as you can, no matter how big or small- write in as much detail as you can. If there are people in your gratitude list, think of ways in which you can express your gratitude to them- perhaps a message or an act of kindness.

The full moon energy amplifies ALL emotions which can bring up intense feelings which is often v overwhelming. After performing your gratitude ritual, I recommend performing this releasing ritual. This will help you to harness this energy and use it to create that powerful shift in your life.

However, releasing work should only be done AFTER the moon has reached fullness and has started to wane. The peak of the full moon is estimated to be at 7:28- so perform this ritual anytime after that.

The tools you will need-

▽ Pen and paper

▽ Fireproof container

▽ Candle

▽ Bowl of salt

▽ Bowl of water

Find somewhere comfortable where you can sit and write, with at least 1 metre of space surrounding you. Use a compass unless you know where north, east, south, and west sit. Place the fireproof container in the East, place the lit candle in the South (anoint the candle with the oil you made earlier tonight to amplify the full moons energy) place a bowl of water in the West and a bowl of salt in the North.

Start by doing some grounding, meditation, deep breathing, or chanting. Light language is acceptable too. Once you feel centered/grounded, write down anything you feel you need to release.Spend a while visualizing these things leaving you, picture your life without them. Focus on the sensation of lightness.

Now turn to the candle in the South, set the paper alight- visualize the fire burning them away. Drop the burning paper in the fireproof container and watch it smoke- visualize them floating away from you.Once the paper has cooled, turn to the North and mix the ash into the salt- visualize the salt neutralizing and absorbing any remaining negative energy

Turn to the East and add the salt and ash to the water. Dispose of the water somewhere far away from your home, or flush it down the drain, then give thanks to the elements for taking it from you. Also It’s a good idea to do a white light protection visualization after a releasing ritual, to prevent negative energy from reattaching.

Now that we’ve reached the end of the night let’s settle down with some yoga.

Tonight’s full moon is in Gemini to Cancer- Cancer rules the chest and stomach. So let a focus on some chest opening yoga poses. Stretch out your chest to improve your posture. Be kind to your stomach by practicing healthy eating, and for mild digestive problems give your stomach a little help with dandelion or peppermint tea.

Here’s a guided yoga video!

a concept: scattered afternoon showers, the sun peeking through the clouds, sipping fragrant tea by the window, the scent of early spring just after the snow melts, a cool breeze pleasantly chilling your skin, a half-written paper on the table before you, a crow sits in the tree outside and caws gaily as it cleans its feathers in the rain, in the distance the other birds weave their voices together in song

My whole family is sending me news of the weather because we have a massive storm system moving through right now, and my grandma and mom are both messaging every couple minutes to remind me that there’s a tornado warning at the moment.

Meanwhile I’m home alone and just finished brewing some milk tea to enjoy while I continue writing.
