After a rough month of sickness, chronic illness, and the death of our business owner and boss I had a 5 pound weight gain. It kills me to have to write it down especially after a plateau last month. I had to add this sticker to my journal to remind myself that weight loss is a journey and I will make it to my goal!

Yep that’s my flabby ass arm. Do you know it’s smaller than it used to be? 6 inches smaller. Did you know I’m embarrassed of them? Did you know they are my least favorite? Did you know that I hate them and can’t wait for the day I can lose the fat and have skin removal surgery? Did you know that I just got a comment on a photo that I shared feeling confident and sexy that said “Those arms “ Don’t be hateful. Just because I share a picture doesn’t mean I’m proud of how I look or that I think I’m beautiful. It means I accept my flaws and that I am a work in progress. 65 pounds down from my top weight and working hard everyday to get better. Stop hating on other people. Love them through their trials. And commenter, I’m going to love you too- because people who leave hateful comments often leave them because of your own insecurities.

This was an incredibly tough and busy month for me. I had a lot of traveling, worrying about family stuff and a lot of stress at work. I kept up with my diet for the most part, struggling the most when I was away from home. No excuses, but it is so hard to stay on diet and away from dairy when you are living out of a hotel room for days at a time. I did my best. What I did not do was lose a single pound, HOWEVER, I did maintain! While I could be super down on myself (which I am trying desperately to avoid) because I didn’t manage to lose any weight this month, I AM proud of myself for ending the month exactly the same weight I started it. It may have been difficult but I managed to stick to my diet and workouts enough that I know that once I get down to my goal weight I will be able to maintain it with the skills that I have learned and the habits that I build.

So why did I write all this just to say that I haven’t changed weight all month? Because I know that some of you get very discouraged when you reach a plateau or slip up and don’t stay on diet. I want you to know that this is one minute, one day, one month of your life. Know better and do better. If you slip up or have a bad month or even gain a pound or more back , buckle down and do better next month. You can do and so can I!

Well guys, I am 2 weeks post partum now and since November 2018 I am officially down 90 pounds as of this morning. None of my clothes fit which is amazing and a huge hassle since I’m toting around a newborn, lol! I am officially the lowest weight in my adult life at 255 pounds! I was 265 when I graduated high school. I am so thrilled y’all. These are my smallest prepregnancy jeans (a size 18)

I literally didn’t eat a carb for 4 weeks!!! So when the wedding was over, I binged, and I mean I binged on everything nearly every day! And now, I feel like shit. I’m addicted to sugar and fat again and look like a bloated potato! But more importantly my depression has never been worse, my skin is a mess, my hair is dry and I’m tired all.the.damn.time!!! Set Back;

Have you ever gotten so angry or upset that all you wanted to do was cry? That’s what happened to me yesterday and usually when that happens I binge eat. I got through the tough time and didn’t binge eat at that time. I was happy and proud of myself. But it ran into today because of an argument I had with my fiancé and my one subordinate decided to start an argument with me for no good reason. When no one was around I ate chips and donuts. I hate myself for it but I can’t let it get me down. I need to keep moving and keeping working on myself. I deserve to be happy and in love with the way I look. TIP OF THE DAY - How To Make Tracking Calories Easy

Just to give you some context, this photo is giving you an insight into a weight training session I did when it was snowing recently - I’m fairly sure it was below 0 degrees celsius!
Anyway, to answer the question —> It can be very daunting when someone mentions how you need to ‘track calories’ if you want to achieve your fitness goals in the quickest time frame. However, there is an app called ‘MyFitnessPal’ which makes tracking food very simple. It gives you the ability to track your food intake daily and keep a record of how many calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein you’re intaking. For example, if you decide to eat a dairy milk chocolate bar, you can either scan the food item by using the barcode on the packet OR you can search for the food item on the MyFitnessPal database, insert how much you ate of the food item (in this case, 1 bar), then this will automatically be logged into your daily food intake chart and it will show you the amount of calories the item was as well as how many carbohydrates, fats, and protein it contained.

You’ll need to know your current body weight, height, your perceived level of physical activity each day/week, whether you have any previous conditions etc. to work out your starting calories. The it will be a matter of trial and error once you have worked out your starting calories to see whether it allows you to lose between 1-2 pounds a week which, in my opinion, is the best rate of weight loss to optimise fat loss and maximise muscle retention.

In this video I discuss the good/bad effects of following a low carb diet, I would like your opinion on this topic so give the video a watch (link below);

The main issue with low carb diets for me personally, is that people jump to low carb diets or zero carb diets (also typically known as a keto diet) way too quickly so they experience many negative effects from eating low carbs. These effects can include prolonged feelings of lethargy and low energy, impaired performance when it comes to exercising, and productivity is negatively effected. If the body goes from eating moderate to high carb with a typical person’s diet, but then this person decides to eat strictly low to zero carbs, the body may react negatively due to this drastic change. Instead, if you’re thinking of switching to a low carb diet (this could be due to managing diabetes, being gluten free), if possible, try and take carbohydrates slowly away from your diet whilst adding in more foods higher in fat, therefore this gradual process will give your body more time to adjust to eating lower carbs and this means your exercise performance shouldn’t be hindered that much.
